can i just say i love cake? but i love great cakes!!! i grew up in san gabriel valley and chinatown for a good portion of my life! and then when we moved to the san fernando valley we still did majority of our chinese grocery shoppping and eatting in the sgv or ctown! for every bday we either go to nicoloci italian bakery in the valley on ventura or something new. its the something ""new"" always gets me!! 1st i dont like ganache or frosting. that stuff is sick!! everytime i always vowed "" next year its phoenix or nicoloci! cos this stuff is sick!!""..i love whipped cream and pillowy soft cake and fruit. recently my mom bought her baby brother (my uncle) a bday cake. unfortuneatly i couldnt be there cos i was having a bday party of my own! but when i got home i had some phoenix and said "" NOW THIS IS CAKE!!!Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm"" we get their original which is whipped cream and fresh strawberries!! i remember 10 years ago i had a college graduation party at the house. i was graduating from the ""equine program"" so my mom bought me a cake from phoenix which was soooo cute!! all my friends and i loved it!! it was a huge sheet cake that had a ranch and horses with a stream running through my cake!! make this place the next cake place you go to!! they even sell dim sum now!!

With all the new Chinese bakeries shooting up everywere, Phoenix in Chinatown is still one of the best. We've been buying cakes from Phoenix since I was a child...and that's at least 30 years ago. The traditional white sponge cage with whipped cream and strawberries is always yummy, and they still run out of those little round sesame seed cookies. Of course, the little ones thrive on the butterfly pastries dripping with sugary goodness.

just like their huge, colorful sign spells out in front of the store...i agree with them 100%, the best birthday cake you could get! not too sweet, plenty of fresh fruits inside. they have different sizes and flavors you could choose from, just go in and select what you want. just try and get one for your loved one's birthday. it's to die for~
