A little over-hyped for the food and service

Went to Luna Park for the first time with a friend last week and thought it was a bit over-hyped. First of all make sure to bring money for parking because you will either have to valet or fight for one of the metered spots on La Brea.

We decided to share a bottle of wine and some courses. We started off with the chipotle caesar salad, it was good, nothing out of this world - but had a little kick with spice. Next, we had the parmesan rigatoni Bolognese. My friend ordered this before and said it was really good, but this time around it was kind of bland and needed some extra salt and pepper to liven it up.

However, we decided up front that we were going to treat ourselves with the make your own s'mores - these were super yummy and definitely made up for the rest of the meal.

The overall look of the restaurant was nice, very dark with candles - maybe nice for a date instead of meeting a friend. And was disappointed that someone told me to get the grilled cheese and tomato soup because it is really good, but apparently it is only offered on the lunch menu. I looked at this menu online and it looks like it offers a ton more than just the dinner menu - so maybe next time I'll try lunch instead of dinner there.

Always packed! Groupon friendly! Great environment!

Came to Luna with my sister during her birthday. Food was great. We had a salad and an avocado burger. They offer great discounts through twitter and groupon and have a full bar. If you can, go there on someones birthday, the ""cake"" they bring you is surprisingly ""large"" :) I'll let you see what I'm talking about. It gave us a good laugh on how clever they were!

Find Them on Twitter!

Almost on a weekly basis, Luna Park tweets unreal discounts, such as 50% off your entire check. Of course, you have to be following them to know the secret password to whisper to your server. Luna Park also offers ""Blue Plate Specials"" Sunday to Thursday night with entrees priced from $10 to $12, in addition to their regular menu items like goat cheese fondue, pot roast and pork cutlet. Don't forget to order one of their specialty cocktails, their sangria is my favorite. [Twitter Handle: @lunaparkla]

worst meal we have ever had

My husband and I had dinner here on april 9, 2010,by
recommendation from sandra lee of the food network
we drove from orange county to la, we had concert tickets at staples and decided to drive to luna park
then back to downtown for concert. What a mistake
we arrived at 5:30pm dinner time very few people in
restaurant. We were sat at a booth that everytime
the door was opened to go to serve people in outside
patie a large draft of air would come in. My husband immediately order his appitizer when we sat down because be knew we needed to leave by 7:00 to get back to downtown. As soon as the water was put on the table we ordered dinner, my husband ordered the casulet and I order stuffed pork cutlet with mushrooms and guyere cheese. We waited l hours for dinner and
when it came my husband dish was so hot and steaming he had to wait 20 mins to cool , the beans
were not cook and the rest was a mushey mess. My
cutlet was about the side a a 3x5 card so thin that
if it was stuffed the mushroom and cheese were not
noticed in the flavor., the mashed potatoes were runney and cold swinning in butter or oil unable to
detact flavor,. We then ordered the signature dessert
make you own smores., the homemade crackers were
burnt and the marshmellow were difficult to get out
of the heated dish, they stuck to the spoon and had
to get transferred to cracker. The only positive was we
had a 50% off coupon, thank goodness, i would have
been upset if we had paid full price for this poorly
prepared food. We were planning to take friends
from australia there but will not now and would not
recommed to anyone. When the management realized that we had been waiting a long time for our
meal they avoided our table like the plague, never said
and about the poor service or the long wait. A couple
came in 30-40 minutes after use and received the same dishes that we ordered 5 minutes after our food
arrived . We had to continuely ask for water, know one
every came to your table to see if were liked the food, etc. Regular prices of food are way to high for the
small portions and poor preparation, Don't waste your
time or money in this restaurant.

Great drinks and fun atmosphere

It may be hard to find, but it's a really cute date spot or a fun place to eat with the girls.

I only had their sandwiches which may have been a mistake because it was so-so. Everyone raves of the mac&cheese so maybe next time?

Great atmosphere and kind of crappy service, drinks were yummy.

Great deserts!

Forgot about this spot because of all the new fab restos in town. But went back recently and had a spot on lunch. Everything was just great and we got a killer deal (50% off!) by following them on twitter. I was very impressed with the mac & cheese, salads and especially the deserts. I will go back and i must remember to remember Luna Park as a viable dinner option too!

Can you say salt?

Really too bad how terrible the food is, because Luna Park on La Brea is about three blocks from our apartment. We tried it a couple years ago and thought the food was awful; bar food for people who don't care what they're eating. We tried again recently, and seriously, can you say salt? My vegetarian dish was so salty I couldn't even eat it. My husband's shrimp risotto was a bit better, but it tasted like something out of a package from Trader Joes. No insult to TJ's. The service was friendly and the decor is cute, but honestly; not cheap, salted to hell food for people who are more interested in their overpriced cocktails than the food they're putting in their mouths. You know what we decided? That the crowd was "bridge & tunnel". It's a Manhattan reference, but it basically means people who want to be where it's happening, but have no clue. Don't waste your money learning the hard way like we did.

Better Now than before

I get the comments below I have been there a few times and was very iffy on going back. But I got a gift card for half price at lahalfoff. com so I figured it was cheap. Food was much better and the staff was really nice actually. I guess they read citysearch...
