Man, oh man, this is now our new favorite place for Chinese!! Everything we tried was excellent and we tried a lot...Tropical Pancakes, Spring Rolls, Onion Rings, Tofu Soup, Spicy Shrimp Soup, a Chicken Sandwich, Yakisoba, Spicy Green Beans, Full Scale Fried Rice, Chow Mien, Yellow Curry, and Choc Apps. Like I said, "we tried a lot". We stopped by Friday on our way out of town and the food was soooooo good we ordered again on our return.
The only negative was that they add gratuity yo your tab without notifying you. You can imagine my disappointment when I found out I tipped them twice.

The food was fresh and tasty, the girls at the counter were friendly and sweet. However, I had the same problem as another reviewer---MSG. I am very allergic and since they are so Health conscious (wheat free bread, vegan, etc., I didn't think to ask about MSG. Make sure you request your food without it!

I just discovered this place. I have been there like 5 times in a month. I am always seated promptly. The food is totally good. I have had the tofu scramble, the tropical pancakes, the spicy green beans, the lentil burger, The mushroom tempo, the onion rings, fried rice, yellow curry, and everything was good. They have highchairs for my daughter. The food doesn't take long. The servers were friendly and attentive. They refilled my glass before it was empty. No complaints.

i ordered out...i had a craving for tom kah kai and i ordered their spicy mushroom soup. it was so yummy! and lots of mushrooms! i've had other things here, but this is my favorite. i thought the girls at the counter were helpful and friendly...also, if you like young coconut, they have it. it's really wonderfully fresh and sweet on a hot day!

I went here with a group of friends and we were seated promptly. They accommodated our group of 8 easily and politely. We ordered and got the food quickly. I got the Pad Thai and it was great. We all tried each other?s food, and it was all quite good. Wow, I thought, maybe vegetarians aren't crazy after all... (just a joke). Anyway, after eating and having a grand time talking and getting cantankerous, we all got sleepy. Out of nowhere, we were all totally tanked. Strange, I thought, why is everyone sleepy even though it's early and we had planned to stay out and get some drinks after dinner? A few of us, myself included, started to feel nasty headaches coming on. I knew the MSG feeling at that point. The restaurant makes a big deal about promoting their ""natural"" and ""organic"" ingredients, but I don't consider MSG to be natural. I felt like I was drugged and got a horrible night's sleep. It was a mess. I don't expect to feel that way after eating at a ""natural/vegetarian"" restaurant. If you don't mind MSG, or whatever it is, then go for it. It actually does taste good, but the aftermath was AWFUL. I won?t go there again and I won?t recommend it to anyone I like.

wether it's being ordered to ""settle yr bill"" so the ""server"" can go home at 6 o'clock on a weeknight (but wait we're still eating and i'm still hungry) or the restaurant closing 40 minutes before the posted time (and being treated VERY POORLY when walking into the unlocked front door) the service is appallingly BAD. While i have had good service on occasion, it's VERY rare. i used to eat at Green Leaves at least twice a week, and the FOOD is DELICIOUS; but after having run numerous restaurants since 1993, i am constantly and consistantly appalled at their lack of knowledge and understanding in how to give even moderately adequate service to their customers. i have watched on numerous occasions my dinner guest recieve their food and finish eating it before i have even seen what my food looks like. as delicious as the food is and even though it is merely a block from my house, i will be avoiding GREEN LEAVES like a flaming bag of poo.

One of the first and still few vegan joints in Silverlake that I've found, Green Leaves has never disappointed me. Overall I guess the place might be known for having great Thai/asian vegan food but everything on the menu that I've had has been good. Of the Thai dishes, the Shiitake curry is best, Rock and roll noodles rock, and the spicy shrimp soup is great (it's like Tom Yum Koong-ask for extra sauce). They also have a variety of wraps and burgers and I think they serve breakfast all day. They extended their operating hours and are open until midnight every night. Perfect for late night cravings when vegetarians' choices for eating out are limited to french fries or bean burritos. The only problem I've had there so far is the parking. There's only street parking but one of the smaller side streets will usually have parking. They also deliver if you live nearby.

Well, really everything that I've tried is delicious. Try the mushroom soup (a veg version of thai coconut milk soup with chicken), yummy onion rings (hard to find true vegan fried food), and the breakfasts are wonderful too. Very reasonably priced, too. Check it out!
