I'll make this very short
Interior: Cheap and lacking much thought
Management: Awful when it was Sugar and awful even now
Crowd: Looks like East LA, Compton. Crenshaw, and Inglewood came together for a block party
Hollywood needs some sort of quality control team and that team needs to shutdown Empire fast. How are they even still open for business?

I went to EMPIRE on a saturday night with a male friend for a date. I was having a great time, until another female patron unjustly started abusing me. This is what happened.
I went to the restroom to check my make-up. After I was done ,I went back to the main club looking fr my date. While searching for him, I was approached my a male patron who politely asked me if he could talk to me ,get my #, etc. I politely declined as I was there on a date and my date was standing right next to him.
Minutes later, the female patron approached me,alon with 3 of her friends and started yelling at me and said "" Don't be going talking to my cousin !"". It made no sense at all to me for two reasons .
A. If it's her cousin, why should she have a problem with any woman he advances.
B. It was not her man and
C. This was out of the blue weirdness.
I told her he was the one who approached me and I am not interested in her cousin. She physically and aggressively started yelling at me and came so close to me as though she was about to fight me . I immediately went towards the smoking room as there were bouncers there and they were the fist ones I could identify as bouncers . I went up to the bouncers and told them to please keep the female patron away from me, as she was following me and harassing me.
The bouncers did not have to look for the female patron because she follwoed me as I tried to get away from her. In fact as I was informing the bouncers of her actions and to keep her away from me, the female patron was yelling and again got in my face. The bouncers had to shield me.
Another female patron in the VIP area saw what was transpiring and invited me to sit with her in the VIP area, that way the harrassing female patron won't bother me anymore. I was in the VIP area when the manager approached me. He was a bald guy, about 5 ""9"" ft tall and asked me to come outside with them , as he needed to talk with me .
I'd just purchased a grey goose/pineapple drink and had not even began drinking it. The manager and some other bouncers asked me to finish my drink . I was in shock, I did not know what was goingon and why they were asking me to finish my drink. I tried to talk with them and before I knew it, one of the bouncers snatched my untouched /full drink out of my hands . And asked me to leave the club.
The bald manager, led me to the sidewalk of the club and told me to wait there and he'll be back. Before he left, I tried to talk to him , but I was so in shock by the strange events going on right before my eyes, I started crying. While I was outside on the side walk, some passersby asked what the club was like, I responded honestly and told them, I'd been thrown out and did not know why. My only reason as to why I was on the sidewalk was obviously jealousy. So, I told them, they probably won't want to go in. The bald manager got upset and told me "" That' it. You are trying to stop people from coming into my club , so I'm not even letting you back in.""
It made no sense to me, because a manager should resolve issues as fairly as possible. I paid to get into the club . I was not starting trouble with anyone. My drink was snatched out my hands by bouncers. That is not fair treatment. Why would I recommend anyone to go into a club where patrons are not given respect? I was the victim here. I went out on a date to have fun.
I don't understand why the other female patron was not called outside. In fact, I stood outside for an hour waiting for my date to come out of the club. Is this how Empire Nightclub treats its patrons. No one cared at all or reimbursed me the funds I paid for my full grey goose drink.
This was sad. So sad. Sad, I must have spoke too soon when I told one of your bouncers earlier during the night how nice the staff was. How come no one used common sense , fairness and tactful diplomacy to deal with the strange events last night?

First of all the club is a JOKE! $40 dollars to park at the door, $20 for regular Valet. I went on Saturday night. It was an URBAN CLUB (whatever). The free before 10:30 another Joke. Got there and stood in line until 10:35. Bouncers were cool but the Manager and URBAN Promoter(s) were rude and horrible. If you are a woman who is Too Curvy, Large and In Charge or whatever they call it these days, don't bother trying to go here. They will not let you in and will stop you before you get out of the car. Urban men should realize that women come in ALL Shapes and sizes.
Also, if you are looking for men, ladies, they control the line and the door so hard that I saw few men. Saw a bunch of women. The balance is very bad. I don't get dressed up to look at women. My friends and I, who actually made it in the club were very disappointed.
Sugar is not so sweet.

well after reading all the reviews below me I am not surprised at all.
this was the same owner of Pearl which is now closed and for good reason
he also owns Sunset Beach which also gets a bad rap,
and this hole Sugar.
He also has a film production company that leaves cast and crew stranded on deserted islands when they run out of money halfway through filming to fend for themselves to get back home.
I definetly can see a trend here and thats bad business, bad people, bad karma................

Extremely rude bouncers and door people. Everything bad that people say about this place is true..I went tonight--Friday, August 1-- and this place was really bad. The place was empty when we got there at 11:30 PM...I am sure due to the bad reputation this place is receiving.
Avoid at all costs, unless you want some burly bouncer to be all up in your face asking ""Why the **** are you shaking your head for?"", right after we were told to get up off the VIP seats---though not a single person was there for the VIP tables/area.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I attended Club Sugar 06-23-08 for a BET Pre-Party. I was with the party that threw the event at the club. We arrived in two stretch limos but as soon as we pulled to the front of the clubs driveway we were rudely asked to vacate our limo immediately because we cannot block the driveway. We told the security we had to wait for the promoter to escort us in but they yelled at us to get out of the limos. Once we got towards the lines a couple of our patrons had to take some photos and do interviews with the media that was there. Me and another young lady stood off to the side to wait for the rest of our party but once again was rudely told by security we need to go in or get out. So again we complied and went inside the club and waited for the rest of our party to get in. I've never experienced such rude people. The owner and the manager were rude. It seemed like they didn't care for their guests to enjoy themselves. They got their money and that's was all they cared about. There were atleast 200 people outside who had already paid $30.00 for pre-sale tickets and could not get in. Famous rappers and actors were turned away from the club. The performers (Glasses Malone, Lil Wayne, Mack 10 and others) were not even able to perform because the club wouldnt let them pull their tour bus into the parking lot. They expected big stars to get out at the curb and walk through a crowd of adoring fans who probably would have mobbed them. I hate to say this but it seemed as though because it was a darker crowd that evening they talked down to us and treated us as if we were nothing. I even overheard the owner when asked by someone who was the party for he said,"" I dont know some rapper guy"". I wouldnt recommend this club to my worse enemy. I can say I truely dislike the club and its employees. Club Sugar will never see another penny from me or anyone I know. I will make it my mission to put these guys out of business.
Went to Sugar on a Saturday with some of my friends. It was about 12:30 when we decided to just sit down and relax for awhile. Some girls come and ask us to move for a second so they can take some rock candy off the wall. The rock candy made the sugar logo and lite up. My friends and I decided to pull some off too. There were no signs anywhere about not touching the candy or consuming the candy. Right away some bouncers come up to us and kick us out. Nobody had any way of knowing we could not touch the wall. All the bouncers were very rude. Then another bouncer comes, takes our IDs and copies down our information. Saying that he is going to report us for destruction of private property. The bouncers make us pay $80 to get our information back.
All the employees at Sugar are money greedy people who don't care about anybody. They just find ways to cheat you of your money and make sure you have the worst time possible.
Not EVER coming back here.
After waiting half an hour to get into another club (Ritual) acrosss the street, we decided to give club sugar across the street a try-- one of the promoters out front introduced himself to us, told us they had just started a new promotion there, and let us right in even though they still had some kind of a line. (I guess they wanted hot girls in their club and Ritual didn't-- they were letting a bunch of guy friends of the promoters)
I like the layout of the club - i had never been there before, I thought there was a nice crowd inside, a handful of artsy fartsy people but I don't mind that... definately a fashionable mix... the Dj's played good music, lots of stuff you don't hear on the radio or remixes of popular stuff I hadn't heard before, either way it was very uptempo which is good because I love to dance... They also had a cool photo area in the back (Kinda like prom or homecoming) which was way cool.
All in all i would recomend it.

Setting: 6/21/08; @ approximately 1 am in the Trance room of Sugar nightclub.
Situation: My friends and I were loyally attending Saturday nights @ Sugar nightclub and at 1 am, we were sitting inside a trance room underneath Sugar nightclub's wall of rock candy. A few female patrons nonchalantly grabbed pieces of candy and when my friends and I inquired about taking the candy, they said everybody could take some. (Note: There is no signage, conspicuous warnings, or security in front of the wall indicating we were allowed or not allowed to take candy) Hence, my friends and I decided to try the alleged candies. A few moments later, African American male security guards along with 1 Caucasian guard came over and decided to kick us out of the club due to our supposed ""destruction of club property"" by taking candy from the wall that contained no warning signs. As they were kicking my friends and I out, a few more patrons took more pieces of candy and the guards ignored them even though I had pointed it out. They simply said: ""well, not everyone who speeds gets a ticket."" As we were escorted out of the club, the guards decided to copy our Drivers license information so that they may send us a bill for the candy. But as I revealed that I knew of many promoters that were Promoting that night, they told us that if $80 tip was given, everything would be dropped. Blackmail, verbal and mental harassment and lack of customer service were exhibited by all involved with Sugar that night

Went there on a Friday night for a friends birthday. Our names were supposed to be n the guestlist but the door guy said they were not. He allowed everyone in the party to go in except for the two darker skinned ladies in the party and told them they were not on the list. We called the promoter and he said take it up with the doorman. The bouncer would not let them at all he yelled at them to stand off to the side and call someone then eventully told them they could not stand there. It was the works ecxperience ever. The bouncer and the promoter have sticks up their butts and really bad attitudes. It was our first visit and we would never go again. We ended up going jsut across the street and had a great time. Got in for free and got bottle service for free as well. Club Sugar is horrible!!! Make sure your on the guestlist and ladies make sure your not too chocolate or you have a mix in your party.

i agree...that club is a rip off...i was on the guestlist and they still made me pay $20.00..actually the doorman asked me for $10.00 and i am a woman.then when i handed a $20.00 to the cashier she took the whole $20.00 saying:""actually it is $20.00""...i let it go;then the head bouncer at the door came inside the smoking area and in a brutal belligerant agressive tone, told me ""don't sit like that on our couch!!!!"";i was talking to someone and just politely replied ""ok""...then on m way out at 1.45 am;the same bouncer come screaming at me saying""get out!!!ou gotta go!!!
so i told him nicely""you can be polite to customers...then he said screaming...""you are not a customer, you are lucky i even let you in my club etc...""
the doorman, was scared of telling him to be nice to customers, basically took the side of the bouncers.
then,i asked for his name to make a report,he came in my face intimidating me and saying so you wanna make a report? and i said yes...he said so what just get out and make it on monday.
he intimidated every other worker so they will not give me his name.
i felt attacked, abused, targeted and disrespected.i still have the bank receits...because i had to go to the atm to give them $20.00 cash and then they go on and say,i am not a customer...abusing me verbally and bullying me.
i guess that is the policy of that club, let the bouncers treat people like dirt and no one says anything.their phone numbers is just a voicemail,no one ever picks up the phone.
also i noticed that they made all the black girls pay but not the others ethnicities...i walk up on sunday morning and still was upset about the night before on how i was bullyied by the head bouncer and the promoter just stood tere in agreement, did not said a word.
they do have the right to let in whoever they want, but they have no right to abuse nor bully anyone especially after taking their money.

The inside of the club is alright. They eventually block off all areas so you have to stand in/near the dancefloor.
Watch out for the bouncers cause they will say you have to pay them to get in even if they just let your friends in for free!!! They even do this 30 minutes before closing.
Your better off going to Ritual across the street. It is 20 times nicer and the music is better.
