Endometriosis
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive technique that is used to treat infertility due to multiple etiologies including tubal disease, male factor endometriosis, and unexplained causes. California Fertility Partners provides IVF in its Los Angeles Fertility Center. IVF treatment involves stimulation of the ovaries to produce multiple eggs, removal of the eggs by an ultrasound directed needle aspiration, followed by insemination of the eggs in the laboratory. The fertilized eggs, or embryos, are grown in culture for 3-5 days before being transferred into the uterine cavity under ultrasound guidance.

Thyroid
Age, egg quality, expertise and techniques used for freezing and thawing, conditions of IVF lab. At California Fertility Partners, we have the experience, skills and technology to give you the highest chance of success with egg freezing. Testing of the uterus and screening for medical diseases such as thyroid disease, that could impact the health of the pregnancy should be completed at least a month or two prior to using the eggs.

Ultrasound
IVF treatment requires careful monitoring by serial ultrasound and blood tests. All procedures can be performed at our center in Los Angeles. If you prefer to shorten your stay in southern California, we can arrange to have the initial testing done at an IVF center close to your home. All outside test results are interpreted by one of our physicians. Medications for the IVF cycle can be shipped directly to you from the U.S., or may be obtained locally.
Radiology
This is a specialized x-ray to evaluate the female reproductive tract, namely the uterus and fallopian tubes. This test is performed in a radiology suite, where a catheter is placed into the cervix using a speculum and dye is injected through the catheter while the X-ray machine takes pictures. This test can identify structural defects in the uterus that can interfere with embryo implantation or predispose to miscarriage, and can determine whether the fallopian tubes are open.

Chemotherapy
Women diagnosed with cancer should freeze eggs before starting cancer treatment. Egg freezing offers a chance to save eggs prior to chemotherapy, surgery or radiation for cancer treatment. Many of these treatments are destructive to eggs and can lead to infertility and premature menopause. The main factors that influence the impact of these therapies on future fertility are age at the time of cancer treatment, type and dose of chemotherapy, and location and dose of radiation. In some cases, viable eggs may be preserved after cancer treatment but it is always best to freeze before treatment if possible. Fertility options vary depending on age, type of cancer, and cancer-treatment plan.

Laparoscopy
If the surgical findings are too extensive to correct by laparoscopy, then a laparotomy â€“ which is a larger incision in the abdominal wall â€“ may be recommended to provide greater access to the pelvic organs and provide greater ability to restore the diseased tissues. Uterine fibroids, large ovarian cysts, and extensive pelvic adhesive disease are often removed though this larger incision. Laparotomy procedures are performed at one of our affiliated local hospitals.
