Sinusitis
There are two types of sinusi¬tis: Acute sinusitis, which is often caused by a bacterial infection and visually develops as a complication five to ten days after the first symptoms of a viral respiratory infection such as the common cold. Chronic sinusitis, which also may he caused by bacterial infection, but is more often a chronic inflammatory disorder similar to bronchial asthma.
Pediatric Care

Primary Care

Ear Infections
Seasonal Rhinitis is usually caused by allergic sensitivity to pollens from trees, grasses or weeds, or to airborne mold spores. The symptoms occur mainly in spring, summer and/or early fall. Perennial Rhinitis is caused by sensitivity to house dust mites, animal dander, cockroaches and/or mold spores. The symptoms are year-round. Generally food allergies do not cause allergic rhinitis. Some people may experience both types of rhinitis, with perennial symptoms getting worse during specific pollen seasons. There are also non-allergic causes for rhinitis. Some known complications include ear infections, sinusitis, recurrent sore throats, cough, headache, altered sleep patterns, fatigue, irritability and poor school performance. Occasionally, children may develop orthodontic problems.

Dr. Iqbal graduated from the Dow Medical College at Karachi in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine. He went on to attend Louisiana State University where received his Masters in Microbiology and Clinical Immunology in 1991. This was followed by three years of residency in Internal Medicine at the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Beach, New Jersey. Thereafter Dr. Iqbal completed his two-year fellowship in the area of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.
Endoscopy
The diagnosis of Eosinophilic Esophagitis is suspected whenever dysphagia for solid food occurs and endoscopy is performed to establish the diagnosis with a biopsy of the esophagus showing increase number of eosinophils in the esophagus. Two most common causes for EE are acid reflux and food allergy.

Drug induced nasal congestion can be caused by birth control pills and other female hormone preparations, certain blood pressure medications, and the prolonged use of decongestant nasal sprays. Non-allergic Rhinitis can also be a symptom of hypothyroidism, or can occur during pregnancy.

Even if symptoms seem to be localized to the sinuses, the sinuses are not always infected. To make a correct diagnosis, some tests, if indicated will be ordered. These tests can include allergy testing, sinus X-ray, CT scans of the sinus and endoscopic examination of the sinus.

Ulcer
If you have a specific sensitivity to any of these substances, it will consist of any of following: erythematous rash, follicular rash, pustules rash and burn-like reactions to skin. A strong reaction can cause blisters and ulcer formation. So it is recommended to remove the specific chambers immediately. Applying hydrocortisone cream to the site will bring some relief. Please note that this reaction may leave permanent scar on the skin.
Eczema
Eczema is a “twitchy skin” condition, often affecting the face, elbows, knees and hands, is also known as Atopic dermatitis. This red, scaly, itchy rash at times may look very dry or ooze. It is commonly seen in infant and children but can occur later in life in individuals with personal or family histories of atopy, such as asthma or allergic rhinitis (‘hay fever”). There is a strong connection between eczema in childhood and the later development of asthma.

Seasonal allergic rhinitis often referred to as ‘hay fever,” affects more than 35 million people in the U.S. These seasonal allergies are caused by allergens. Airborne pollens and mold spores are outdoor allergens that commonly trigger symptoms during the spring and fall. Allergy testing is required to specifically diagnose these allergens.
