Broken Art Tattoo is hands down, the best shop in LA. I trust all of the artists, and have had complex & colorful work done, as well as simple text. They are superb :) The few times that I have let another shop work on me, I am never as satisfied as I am with the guys at Broken Art. Not only are they extremely talented, they are also very friendly, and provide a fun and cool experience for guests. From the crazy art, to the cool bar, the shop puts other tattoo parlors to shame. 5 stars all the way :)

I got this siick dragon tattoo on my back by Jeremy Swan and it was such a good time.. We just talked like we've known each other for years. Soooo siiiiick fool. Someone was making music in the back and it was such high quality sick stuff, just great vibes, like world music but way sicker..
congratulations! you just found the best shop in town.
broken art is a rare gem of a place. the artists who work there, while among the best in their respective fields, are, down to a man, amazing people. even the clients are cool.
i've gotten work done by every artist there and they've always been great at making me feel comfortable - i've never felt more at home in a shop. it's a clean, relaxed and tastefully done lobby, with organized, well designed and immaculate stations.
(and there's ping pong)
the music collection is ridiculous, the art is amazing and there's always a beer or three in the fridge.
you can get tattoos anywhere, i suppose, but when you get one at broken art, chances are you'll have walked away with some great ink and some new friends.
i won't go anywhere else and, in all honesty, most of their clients swear the same thing. if you're thinking about getting a tattoo, visit their shop. if you're not sold instantly, you probably don't want a tattoo.
I grew up with Derrek and have known Josue for a while now. These guys are my good buddies including jeremy matt and rosie. i love this shop like no other. they produce great work and its the best shop in CA (in my opinion.) if youre looking to get great work done that lasts a life time GO HERE!
Both of my arms have been covered thanks to the fine artists at Broken Art Tattoo. This is a great place to be worked on without being bothered by other people in the shop, something you find at other places in the city. A great environment, very chill, relaxed and comfortable.

So me and my girlfriend decided to take the trip to LA from San Jose and Fresno, respectably. We showed up a little before opening but Jeremy made us feel welcome right off the bat. Taken aback by finding out we drove all the way to LA just to get inked at his shop, he was still able to fit us in despite being a busy Saturday. He set us up with Derek who I consider a Tattooing prodigy. The staff is very friendly, the shop is very clean and the decor is very artsy as well as the atmosphere being very relaxed. As far as the work, me and my girlfriend are very satisfied with the job ""D-Rock"" did on us. Chances are we're coming back for more, although I recommend using common sense and making an appointment.
I recently went to Broken Art Tattoo to get a piece done that has been in my mind for a couple of years - it is a back piece that started with a tribal phoenix on one side of my back that I got done in Vegas with an average artist. So I came upon Broken Art by doing careful research and seeing the portfolio of work. Jeremy Swan has the most consistent beautiful art work I have seen. Then I found out he designed the shirts for Musink. That sealed the deal for me - I had to get my next piece, a cross, with him. I went in the shop and the first thing I notice is a life size statue of Darth Maul in the entrance. Then as I go in further, there is a small bar in one corner, a couple of couches, and a ping pong table! It was an inviting atmosphere. Jeremy was tattooing someone at the time, but was able to pause for a bit for me to present the work I wanted done and book an appointment. So, it was not surprising I got my appointment about a month later and placed an $80 deposit for it. He charges by the hour - $175. When the day came to do it, I was excited. I got the shop and when Jeremy arrived, he greeted me, went to settle down a few things, and went to work on my design on paper with a few custom changes. Immediately I was impressed with how quick he did this and how the ideas flowed from his mind to paper. When he saw the phoenix I had, he looked at the cross, and immediately suggested to not only get the cross done, but also get the phoenix on the other side as well with a few more additions to "frame" the cross and make it complete - all this came to him on the fly. So, looking at a rough sketch of what he meant, I immediately agreed. The tattooing session itself was about 2 hours and it was intense. When the cross was done, my jaw fell down. The colors and design just stood out - it was perfect! I booked my next appointment - about a 5 weeks from now - to finish off the piece. I could not recommend a better artist! If you want quality work, stop by and check the place out for yourself - you wont regret it!

i wanted some japanese artwork, they got it done. I wanted some old school style tattoo, they got it done. No matter what i wanted, they were able to do the job.. and if they didnt like it, they told me that it wouldnt look good. i like their honesty and their style. i can count on them for real body art.

Jeremy Swan is the best artist in LA, if not the country right now. Aside from that, this is by far the COOLEST tattoo shop in the world (one visit, and you'll see what I mean). Everyone at Broken Art is friendly and makes you feel apart of the family; whether you're old friends or just a walk-in. You actually leave saying ""wow"" when you see your ink...and that's what is most important.
If you don't live in LA, think about taking a trip out here to get inked by J Swan....I mean hell, people do it everyday for Miami/LA Ink...and I dont think they compare at all.
If you do live in LA, then there's no reason why you should be getting your work done anywhere else.
the art is number one at this place. their work can never be dated because it is sooo cool. I love everything that they have put on me.. and i know i can trust them to do the job surpassing what i even expected. just come into the shop, and youll see what i mean when i say these guys are a class act. they are freaken hilarious, and they take their work seriously.
coming back soon guys!
I called in to see if i could make an appointment and almost instantly got a date. They said that all i needed was to secure a spot with a deposit of only about 50 bucks. when i came in, i was shocked because the shop didnt look like any ordinary shop. They had a really nice set up, and the guys in there were really cool and really personable. they offered me some pizza right away and i felt like they were not only there for business, but for the love of art. seriously. they are really great at what they do.

Jeremy Swan is an amazing and talented artist! He just did my tattoo a couple of weeks ago and it healed so good. The colors are still so vibrant and I get so many compliments! People keep asking me if it's real because the detail is so perfect and the colors he used are amazing. I am so happy with my experince at Broken Art Tattoo! This shop is pretty cool and clean! They even have a full complimentary bar and make you feel like your in a V.I.P. lounge. If your thinking of getting tattooed, you should check them out. Really cool artists that listen to what you want and can draw anything:)

My husband and I were looking around a lot to try and find the best place to get a tattoo. We wanted it to be a good experience, and we went to lots of different shops, and were faced with too many egos. Then we found Broken Art Tattoo. It is the coolest shop I have ever seen. It has a really good vibe, and the guys are great, really wonderful. Justin did a great job with ours, and was a really nice guy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I hate those lame reviews that don't do justice and I never really do any reviews, but this one is warranted.
Usually tattoo shops are too doctor white or plastered with generic prints of tattoos.. nothing original.. This shop is the opposite of that.
The interior is like a cool swanky bar, (with a mini bar inside).. and the decor is amazing. The guys, Jeremy Swan and Justin Cox dress up the place like it's a real living room, without making it look dingy. It is a nice and clean place and they take care of you really well.
I came in with a picture and Jeremy took it to a whole nother level. It's nice to know that there are good tattooist out there that give a damn about what they are doing.

It might be a trick to first find this place, but it
is nicely hidden from random street walkers to pop in.
This place is set back into a quaint little shop that
immediately feels comfortable. Jeremy (who I get my
work done by) is always focused on the job he is
doing, but never too busy to shout a greeting to
acknowledge he will be right with you. Your eyes are
plenty busy while you wait as they can glance over the
many pieces of art that spread the walls. Everything
from pencil drawings from the guys who work there,
from cool decor, to the hidden children's drawings
behind a proud father's head. I also take time to
check out the books of past tattoos on the table, to
get some ideas. If you are a little uneasy before your
sitting you can ask to grab an adult beverage. Not
that you need one because once you sit down you know
Jeremy is on the level. I always throw all my ideas at
him and let him take it all in to let me know what
will work with my skin. Each detail he has put on me
is beyond my expectations. So much so that I never
write on these review sites but thought that others
have to know where to go in LA for good work. It is so
important to me that something that is going to last
the rest of my life has to be done right. I am
impressed with the work I have seen with his attention
to color but I am currently working on just black. The
contrast he can still create is amazing. If you just
want a place that you can just trust will be done
right and someone who will work with you to ensure
that, I would go check this place out.
I hope this helps.
