It's a great place after all

I go there for tea at least once a week. They have a big selection of Yogi and Celestial. A friend introduced me to that place. In the beginning I was hesitant of what to think of that coffee shop. It didn't take me long to become a fan. I go there for the cool, laid-back atmosphere. The staff is welcome and sweet. You'll see a lot of people on their laptops. The fact it's open till late every day is a great plus. But beware the crowd that follows at those times. C'est ca!

Definately agree that the attitude of the people who work there isn't always the friendliest, but who cares. The coffee and atmosphere there by far makes up for the two minutes you have to deal with the person behind the counter. I suggest you grab some coffee, one of their yummy desserts, and kick back in one of their many dark corners and people watch. Its Hollywood after all!!!!!!

I go to this place OFTEN because I live in the Hollywood Hills & it's the only coffee shop in the area. Each time I go is terrible & I always swear I won't go again, but I always end up going back because it's so close. The two things I like about this place is the coffee (they use Italian espresso) and it's delicious, and they also allow dogs inside. However, each time I go is ruined by the terrible attitudes of the staff. They are pretentious for no reason, and very rude. I have talked to a lot of people in the area, and they all agree it's a very unpleasant place to go. PLEASE, someone open another coffee shop in the area!

Where to begin!?

This is my favorite place to go and regroup my thoughts and regain focus.
I literally can not think of one single negative thing to say about this place.

If you haven't been here before I recommend bringing a laptop or a book ordering an ice tea and a desert and vegging with your shoes off in the Moroccan themed dark room for a few hours.

Nice location

For a place in Hollywood, the price is very un-Hollywood. My friend and I randomly chose this place to work for our weekly Sunday meeting. The blue interior was very nice. We had to stay close to the door because it was very dark inside. The coffee was great along with the shake that my friend had. The person working was so friendly. I totally love the location also. There are quite a few restaurants on that same block if you want a place to eat after spending the day at Bourgeois Pig.

I love studying here

The perfect atmosphere-you can study and feel like you're out. The tuna salad is soooo good. Parking is sometimes annoying-but nothing new in LA.

Not bad for Hollywood!

A little on the expensive side, but then, yet you are paying for the atmosphere and location and a non-starbucks environment. There are many stories of Hollywood writers spending hours working here, and some locals just never leave this place. They only serve expresso and no coffee, which is fine, cause the expresso is a unique type you can't get elswhere in hollywood.

good coffee. open late.

this is a good relaxing spot to have coffee.. even late at night. the atmosphere is dark and relaxed. there's a room with pillows and tables. there's also a pool table if you wanna play. the service depends on what day you go on, because of the people that work there.

i liked it.

i must have gone on some random weekday bc when i went, it was very chill. i took some old friends from out of town and we had a good time. there is a great italian place next door--im not crazy bout gourmet pizza bc it all tastes the same, but this place was delicious. anyway, the coffee place charges too much for nothing (thai iced tea horrible) but cool place to kick it.

ive been warned about the loud high schoolers, though, on weekends.

kind of silly but still enjoyable coffeehouse

i loved the pig a lot more when i was in high school -- it felt very cool to me.. now, in my old age, i've realized that it tries a little too hard, all the people ""writing their screenplays"" are secretly probably updating their myspace profiles and that it's not really that exciting. but still i love the pig! the moroccan room in the back is fun, especially for a date or with a group of friends. the pool tables are dumb (they're not level). the tables in front on the sidewalk are great for people watching, smoking and gossiping, particularly in the evening.. but good luck with parking!

Rude service and bad coffee...

I like to support local cafes' and have tried the ""Pig"" many times for my morning coffee, you can pretty much expect a snooty barista, with kind of that I'm too cool to work here or help you South Beach vibe in this supposedly artistic, down to earth local hang out. I had one too many bad experiences with this place, and at $2.25 for a watered down small coffee plus the dollar I tip doesn't add up for me anymore. If you're looking for friendly service and a half decent coffee I would steer clear of this place. I do think the interior itself is pretty cool, but the staff definetely ruins any type of coffee house atmosphere you'd expect from a place with the name ""Bourgeois Pig"".

Not superb

I found this place on Citysearch, thinking it would be a nice place to study. It was a bad idea. Yes, the place was cute and had a nice vibe, and probably would have been more enjoyable if I was just there to catch up with a friend. Instead, I found a loud, dark, overly crowded place complete not suitable for studying. Maybe it was just the day I went, who knows.

One more thing to mention, I have never been to a place that charged $3 for a Diet Coke before. That was a little rediculous.

Bohemian Hollywood vibe

There's a palpable creative vibe when you walk in, which could have something to do with the number of screenwriters pecking away on their laptops The pool table seems randomly thrown in, but it works just the same, much like the Middle Eastern-themed back room. And there's always the chance you'll have a celebrity sighting.

One of my all time favorite coffee houses. I love the pool table and the genie bottle room. A great place to hang-out with friends. You may see a lot of young people. Good for after dinner drinks.

great coffee shop, with 1 minor problem

Bourgeois Pig is a fantastic place with great ambience, perfect for an evening conversing with a friend or friends, shooting pool, or hanging out in the beautiful back room that resembles an opium den. The atmosphere is very relaxing both indoors and out, which explains the number of people who go there to write or read or just sit and watch the traffic drive by. There's usually ample seating, even outdoors on the sidewalk (though it can definitely get crowded on weekend evenings). There isn't much of anything negative one can say about the place, unless you're a single girl who is trying to relax with a book and one of the shady would-be lotharios who sometimes drop in for a tea sits down next to you and flirts, uninvited. Aside from that, this is one of my favorite places in L.A.!
