About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

I never give any restaurant five stars unless they're so far out of the ordinary - in a good way - that I want to give them the kudos they deserve. No, this isn't a rating for the ambiance of the restaurant - it's in a mini mall on Sunset and the decor inside looks mini-mallish. But the special feeling starts from the moment you enter, as the owner greets you as if you were a member of his family. That treatment continues via the expert service from the waitstaff. I've eaten at nice and dive-y restaurants all over the world, and the service is on a par with an excellent restaurant in Paris or London. The food is the star of the show, however. It's simply superb. Waaay superior to most restaurants in the L.A. area. Everything is suffused with a huge amount of flavor. You wouldn't think a mixed baby greens salad could taste this good, but it does. And the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp ... drool. One of my favorite entrees is the linguine with seafood (with shrimp, scallops, calamari and clams - I had to look all this up on their website). Wow - I felt like I was sitting in my fave little ristorante on the Amalfi Coast. I'm not a cow eater, but my friends have gone into rapturous states, just describing their veal dishes. Then there's the shrimp scampi ... again, drooool. Don't even think you can just show up - you have to have a reservation. Aroma hit the newspapers a few years ago for showing celebrities the door, since they hadn't booked in advance. A true Silver Lake gem.

Well, isn't this a surprise? N...

Well, isn't this a surprise? Not that having a good sushi bar in a mini mall is surprising in L.A. The surprise is that it took me so long to try it out - and that it was actually good. I'll have to hit it up a few more times to give it a really well rounded review, but here's what I'll say: the fish is very fresh, and they have a huge assortment of rolls, and the usual sashimi, et al. At one of my fave sushi joints, I always ask for a rainbow roll, but request that they just use salmon. Miyako actually has this roll on the menu. And when you ask for some edamame, they come to your table with a fresh, steaming hot *enormous* pile of said dish, nicely salted. That is *so* much better than the usual cold and tasteless edamame that I frequently run into elsewhere. The service was a bit shaky, only because the waitress had started her new career just five minutes before I walked in the door. She actually didn't know what edamame was - we both had the manager come over, who looked terribly embarrassed, but quickly resolved the situation. The dishes arrived out of order, but they were all so good that I didn't care. It's walking distance from home, so ... I'm very happy.

Hollywood Hookah Lounge

I went to this hookah lounge last weekend, and had a blast. It's definitely the right place to go to for an upbeat, relaxing, and lively scene. Our server was very energetic, fun, and easy to conversate with. The hookahs were great because they actually start it for you first before they bring it out, which makes it more easy and enjoyable to smoke out of. I felt very privileged being able to see the world's largest hookah. It's awesome and ridiculously HUGE! I also liked how there were different private booths inside which is a great idea for the next time I go with a group to be able to have our own space. The one thing I would recommend is if you're going on a weekend, to call and reserve before if you can because we had to wait a little bit before getting seated because it was a full house. This is definitely a hookah lounge you must go to and is worth seeing. It's definitely worth the drive and price. Lots of fun, and am definitely going back!

Are you looking to relax and also get your face and body back in order, then I know a place for you, "That is the Lounge Spa" At the Lounge Spa, I know I am always greeted with welcome and that i feel comfortable knowing that i can come here for maintance to keep my skin in order and feel good about it. Some businesses are so hustle and bustle these days they are there to do the facial or massage and its a business, well this is a business of caring and it shows in their services, every person that works at this place always has a smile on their face and in good moods, because they love their jobs, and I appreciate that everytime i go there! And of course I must say that Alice gives the best facial in LA, and I feel good knowing I can count on her even when I need it in a time crunch! They will do their best to get you in if they can! Love the Lounge Spa what more can I say! The best !

Plaza Night Club

Plaza Show Fan

Come in to a light hearted, friendly greeting people, to an exceptional night of surprise and enjoyment. You can spend as little as the door charge of $5 to view two fantastic shows a night on Friday and Saturday. The first show begins at 10:15 P and the second at Midnight. Don't blame it on Midnight, but the fun and dancing gets better as the night proceeds. From cumbia to all different types of Latin Music you will glimpse one of these stars or perhaps another International star like Laura Pasini. Donna Summer, Cher, and Cyndi Lauper have all been done. The crowd is mostly Spanish speaking people, and you will meet people from all over the world. It truely has a World Class Appeal for such a Honky Tonk Interior. You will see what Hollywood brings out the best of humanity. I urge you to get there early, and don't worry about the place being packed. By 10:30 P the tables are normally taken.

Sushi Sasabune

My favorite destination for sushi

No cut rolls here. To be honest, I'm not even sure what the menu looks like. I always get omakase (chef's choice), and there are only two choices: American or Japanese. The Japanese version is a little bit more out there (ie. sea urchin, abalone, etc). Both are good, and I mix it up. The last dish they usually bring you is the blue crab handroll. Hard for me to say what my favorites are, but the handroll would rank up there. Sometimes, I'll get an extra. Rice is a little fluffier and warm. Some may find it strange but I like it. Omakase generally runs $50 - $70 per person, without drinks. You can park on the street if you're lucky, otherwise there is a parking structure underneath the building (validated). Used to be that you needed reservations, but it didn't seem too bad the last couple of times I visited.

Sushi Sasabune
Martha L. rated

This is probably one of the best sushi places in LA. This isn't your California roll sushi places, which is a really nice change of pace. If you can, definitely try the Omakase (Japanese or regular). It'll definitely be more $$, but the fish selection is so good. I'll just say this, I haven't had such good fresh tasting sushi in a while. Of course I haven't tried some of the higher end and more $$$ places around town, but to those who are thinking about spending a bit more on on much better sushi without breaking the bank, I'd recommend this place. Small problem with this location, which I guess is true for most places near the west side... is parking. I don't remember seeing a parking lot for this place, but there's plenty of street parking in the adjacent streets or the nearby neighborhood.
