From Business: Patina is a Michelin starred French restaurant at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, considered by many as the pinnacle of fine dining in Downtown Los Angeles.
When you drive by Figaro Cafe in Los Feliz, you might think it's full of pretentious hipsters/poseurs and that's it's so busy you wouldn't find a table. While it is busy and there are some douches there, it's a great place where you can find a table pretty quickly most times. The French food is good without being over-pricey and the atmosphere is really laid-back. Families, couples, single people, young and older alike -- these are the eclectic mix of people who dine there. You can dress up, get trendy or just walk in wearing jeans and t-shirt and not feel out of place. I had a phenomenal Eggs Florentine with potatoes, salad and bread, and I can't recommend this place highly enough for a casual meal with friends or date.
Great place to dine with a bird's-eye view of downtown L.A. They have a nice weekend brunch, and their dinner menu (which leans French) is good, but not great ... it's really about dining al fresco with that amazing view, especially at night. Sometimes whoever is at the hostess station can be a bit uppity if you request an outdoor table (the only tables really worth going for). Stick to your guns and wait for an outside seat. Or skip dinner and go to their open-air deck one floor up for a cocktail.
his place is an absolute must for all couples! The ambience and decor are perfect. The outdoor patio is covered with gorgeous little lights, trees, plants etc. You definately feel like you are somewhere other than Los Angeles. Tables are lit by candelight. The place is a bit loud because it is very full, but the atmosphere is very enjoyable. For dinner I had the grilled Ahi Tuna (medium rare) comes with baby veggies and a delicious hummus which was washed down with some fancy bottle of wine.
Whether you're a fan of steak frites or poule roti, Church & State does traditional French bistro food with tons of flavour. Excellent service and wine list. It's not your most quiet place but the busy environment adds to the charm. Located in downtown only minutes away from the historic skid row neighbourhood, Church & State is a lovely oasis of gourmet chow. It gets busy on the weekends so be sure to make reservations.
I ordered a strawberry and cheese filled crepe, it was absolutely delicious. The guy who made the crepe was very friendly and attentive. He was also very generous with the whip cream (my request). I was actually surprised at the exceptional quality of the service/food since this plaza is known to be very mediocre due to the constant influx of tourists. I will definitely be coming back to this place next time I'm at this plaza.
This is a great spot near the studios and just around the hill from the valley. Service is not rushed... and may feel slow for those who are used to quick meals. The ambience is great, so sit back and relax and enjoy the experience. The baked salmon with lemon sauce is fantastic and highly recommended. It's a bit hidden so watch for the sign, valet parking is the way to go as street parking is limited.
Believe it or not, this is actually a french restaurant highlighting food from southern france and the basque region of spain. I would probably say the food is 3.5 stars but i will round up since the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. looks can be deceiving as it looks to me like something of a dive bar from the outside. C'est faux mon frere!
Great place for brunch, I love to go on the weekends when I have time. The setting couldn't get any better, wonderful view of Downtown that's both exciting and relaxing. Everyone is friendly, no problems whatsoever with the service. Their mimosas are delicious, Perch is definitely one of my go-tos when I have the opportunity to eat out nice.
One of the most romantic spots for dining in the city, though it'll cost you a pretty penny. Tables are situated in a beautiful courtyard garden, and you'll find the place by literally going through the "little door" in the hedges. Lots of celeb sightings...I saw Paris Hilton stalked by paparazzi here once.
