What can i say, i was amazed. this is the 3rd time i moved, and was petrified chosing a moving company, Both times i was very dissapointed as both those companies were highly rated by the BBB. My new apt manager gave me a discount coupon from this company - looked at it, and said to her, never heard of this company before. She said - the feed back she got from previous tenants were just positive once, and i thought what the hell, let me try. For the first time ever, i never experienced this before, i spoke to one of the owners. never experienced a owner help out in customer service when it gets busy. All i can say - just fantastic! It was explained to me from beginning to end how they operated, she was so delightful and i imediately felt connected to her, and sounded like someone i can trust for a change - i was sold. This company was so involved in everthing ragarding my move - something you would expect from someone like the BBB. They don't just listen to a complain - they told me from the start - if there is anything i do not like regarding my move, i should just call in immediately. Well. i did not have to do it - the morning of my move, exactly 8.55am the movers arrived, 9am i got a call from the owner that helped me throough the process - to asked if the movers were there. I could not bvelieve it. 2 hours into the move - i got a suprise visit and met her. Could not believe someone that look like her would be part of a moving business - but as the saying goes - don't judge a book by its cover. She came to check up if the movers were working fast enough - and if i was happy with the job so far. She also handed us a beautiful gift bag to welcome us into our new home and to say thank you for using their services. Wow wow wow - thats all i have to say. I have never ever experienced something like this in any service company i have used before, let alone a company in the moving industry. I got 10% discount on my move - and that was an added bonus to us. This is one company i would refer to anyone with out a blink of hesitation. They are just wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! whatelse can i say! Ray V A Los Angeles, CA
This company is FANTASTIC!! I was told by a friend of mine how great they were, but after calling their office, i could understand what the fuss was all about. If i was not referred by my friend to them, i most probably would not have used them, and here's the reason why. As usual, i would normally check any company before using them on the BBB, so i checked, and they were not listed as a member. I asked my friend about it, and she said, to be a member of the better buisiness bureau does not mean thart you're good.. i then realized it, as i was dissapointed a few times going with the ratings of it. Well may i say, if all companies operate the way this company do, i don't have to waste my time searching for ratings with the BBB, From the moment i booked my move with them, i felt at ease like never before. Roz was just out standing! I questioned her why their co. were'nt a member of the BBB, and she took time to explain it to me. She even said that they are not a fan of the BBB. and if she can help it, hope they don't have to - but as she said, there are people like me that just go with a company because they have a high rating with the BBB. This woman is so well educated, that i could just listen to her!. I cannot say enough about her and M S P. I cannot believe that they are only in operation for the past 8 months! (by the way, that's one of the explanations she gave me for not being a member of the BBB, cause you have to be atleast a year in business before you can become a member!) My friend said that's exactly how she felt when she used them. She new Roz from a previous company she worked for, and there she used that company too because someone had referred her to Roz at the time. I can now understand why she referred me to this company, as they are so so lucky to have someone like Roz working for them. Thanx Roz, for everything you have done for me during my move. Your are simply just fantastic. Hope your company appreciate you as much my friend and I do.. Will refer you to all my peers, friends and family. K H Glendale, CA
Moving sucks - packing, unpacking, the whole bit. Hercules Moving Systems made the experience so much easier - they are worth every penny and then some. Yuval arrived at my door and he was extremely polite and knowledgeable. He gave me tips on what should be in boxes and what to bundle to save time for the movers = meaning that he was saving me money. He was so helpful and informative (even telling me about the yelp deal) that I was instantly blown away by his professionalism and this company. I called my husband and told him my experience and we immediately decided this was the company for us. My next call was to the other two moving companies we had coming for an estimate to cancel, then I called Yuval to say we would love to do business with him. The movers did not disappoint - they came, packed, and moved with an efficiency and speed that makes me wonder why they don't have capes? They were polite and respectful, sociable, and gracious for the protein bars and cold water bottles. (How are people so rude to not offer these things to people LITERALLY doing the heavy lifting for your move?) They met us at our new place the next day with the same efficiency and speed at UNPACKING and had us ready to settle in our new place in a matter of hours. It was such a treat for me, as I'm someone who usually gathers friends and family for a move and having it take an entire weekend just to get our stuff to a new place. Not even mentioning the unpacking and the rest of it. I highly recommend having professional movers everytime you move, b/c they know how to pack and how to move it quickly - the time you save on that alone is worth the money you spend. And if you want GOOD people who know what they're doing for a reasonable price, then Hercules Moving Systems is who you want.
I can say the transport company treated me like a friend? Only great things! I called Hercules transport after the company originally booked with accidentally forgot to put me on schedule. I called literally Herculean day before my move date and I thought that they were such a representation, they will be fully booked .. Too my surprise, they were not fully booked due to the incredible amount of teams they have to offer and they began the process moving immediately .. I have spoken with me and it made me totally feel like she knows me personally. She bought my trust in being honest with me about all the details of moving and she answered all my questions patiently. I ordered 3 staff @ $ 89 and it was worth every penny .. Once I booked with me, she gave me a white to complete my confirmation call. Ben explained everything again and made me feel like I was in good hands. The next morning, I was ready for my move my team so exciting. Carlos and his team came and shook him! They were fast, efficient, careful, but most of all, they were friendly .. They never gave me access when I gave them directions and they talked to me like I'm their friend and that they have my back .. They honestly seem. It was not about how much money they can get, that it would get my move done in a timely manner .. I 100% recommend Hercules everyone I know .. I gained friends with this company, and I'm sure you'll find their friends too! Thank you for Hercules! I see good things coming your way only! And a small side note: My husband totally impressed with matching uniforms. Not only do they have black shirts with yellow logo Hercules, but they also had nice black pants. It's not something you usually see with a moving company, the Hercules is very nice! Kelsey shows!
Professional & friendly international moving company in Los Angeles. I Love Movers are the best in business. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful they were. Every single person on the team worked hard, and they worked extremely well as a team. I wish we could have afforded to tip them more! That's what I was mostly concerned with - making sure they earn enough money for everything that they do. They packed everything so carefully and thoroughly, and never rushed, even though the move took longer than expected. I was blown away by their ability to disassemble my Ikea furniture. I thought it'd be near impossible, but the foreman knew exactly how to handle each piece, and took time to communicate to his team how to dismantle and pack the parts. They were able to take the furniture apart easily and without any damage. I hope that the movers on the other end are as good as these guys are! Again, I wish that we could have offered them more money as a tip. Please give them all a bonus. They're great guys, and dealt with a difficult situation (the broken elevator, the heat, things taking longer than they had planned) with ease and maintained a great attitude. Lots of people would have taken it out on us, or would have griped or complained, making us feel uncomfortable or guilty somehow. Not these guys - they were there to do the job and were committed to a high standard of work and professionalism. In addition, they were very personable, which made me and my family feel comfortable and at ease during the move. Great Company, Great people.
We were looking for a moving co to move our local small office, but most companies only do the hourly minimum rate thing. A friend of ours told me to call Tom at M S P, which i did, and i am still greatful for that. Tom explained to me that their company also work on a hourly rate, and would normally just do a walkthroughs on the bigger moves, but will make an exception and come an have a look at it. I understood that i can't blame them for wanting to come out, cause he said the last time a customer gave them their moving belongings over the phone, and it ended up twice what was give to them over the phone. When he came out, he took a look, wrote everything down and said he will send ua a proposal when he gets back to his office. not long after that we got the proposal, and were quite happy as it was much cheaper then the actual flat rate company rate we got. I knew we could trust them as our friend used them before and could not stop talking about them afterwards, and that's the reason he told us to call them. The day of the move could not have gone any better. The movers were phenominal!!, They were on time, very professional, kind and worked as fast as they could to get the job done. We could not believe how lucky we got! A week later we got another shock, Tom came by to give us a thank you card and a welcoming gift. Now that's what you call great great customer service all round. They listen, they explain, and they care! i will recomend them to everyone we know! Kudos to all the staff at MSP! Rov Doug, CA
Lucky me. I needed to move again. So I called several companies Then I remembered I used Hercules Moving some years back. I did not know if they are still in business. I found them on YELP. I found few harsh reviews, but it did not stop me. I had a good experience before. MIKE answered and was very nice on the phone. So I figured, why not try them yet once again. They did not disappoint me. This time I had 3 guys, simply too much stuff. Price was at very reasonlble level @79/hour - that's still the lowest rate we could find anyway. Especially at the end of the month. I hear some companies raise it quite a bit. But since I already used them, I thought I will not risk and get another mover. Last time was great. I called and was quoted as much as $120 for 3 by other moving co's. We used Hercules to move all my large stuff and to pack the kitchen: glass, dishes, food,& stuff. They charge me only $29 for fuel which was fair, going to SIMI VALLEY , that was a big 26 footer. They wrapped all my stuff: dressers, mattresses, couches, chairs, so that they don't get scratched or damaged. Yuval and the guys took extra care of our stuff and not one single thing was damaged. We had many fine pieces of furniture and fragile items too, since we had many unopened wedding gifts and such. They took extra care. I also had guitar, amps, and an upright. This was hands down the best moving experience I have ever had. From one happy customer. ThX HERCULES !!!
Who said customer service is dead and gone! When i was referred to this company by my best friend, and the way she spoke about the consultant that helped her on the phone, i said it sound to good to be true. I was very nervous about my upcoming move, and told her, okay if you are so happy about their service, they must be good. I spoke to Roz, what a lovely accent first of all, and so pleasant. I could just talk to her forever. She helped me and put my nerves at ease until my move this past weekend! She called me the morning of the move to ask me if i was okaty and ready to go, and i could not believe it. i said to my fiance, heaven must be missing an angel with this lady! The movers were spot on time, and they were very proffesional about the way they went about things. After the move, the movers gave us a Beautiful bottle of champagne wrapped in a satin bag with a big bow to welcome us into our new home, or as Roz would put it in her note with the bottle - Use this towards your "roofwetting party, as a thankyou for using our service. "roofwetting? must be an english thing, but i liked it. I asked her what it meant, she said it''s celebrating your new home! What a wonderful group of people they are. Roz must be an angle, but i have found my saviour i told them. Thanks so much guys, i will recommend you to all the people i know. You are all so great, and i love you guys!! Ren C Beverly Hills,
I was thoroughly searching for a moving company as i did not have a great experience with the one i chose the last time. I came across this company and could not believe they only had 5 stars. i search for a few more movers, but they were the only ones with just 5stars. So i decided to call them. Their lines were all busy, so i left a message. One thing i already liked were, i was not sent from that department to another by a stupid automated phone. A few minutes later i got a call from Liz. I congratulated her for all their five stars, I even made a joke saying i hope i would not be the first one having to change that. She laught and said they always just try and do their best for everyone. I imediately liked her as she realy made me feel so at ease. i decided i would go with them. The day of my move everything went great. Liz were there for me from the start to the end of it all. i got a surprise when the wonderful pretty lady Liz came by personally by to deliver a welcoming gift to me. Service like this i have never experienced. i can now see why they only have five stars. Jose and Mike were just great with my move, and nothing were damaged or broken. I can't emphasize enough how great they were. I have already recommend them to my best friend. Thank you MSP and staff for the great service i received. Liz you are awesome, I am so happy i chose you guys! SLawlen, Los Angeles CA
After our move on Saturday, i can clearly see why these guys only have five stars. They sure deserve more then that. They are FANTASTIC!!, Liz our consultant were just great from the moment we touched base with them to the end of it all. No request of ours were ignored, and i imediately felt our move is gonna be in great hands. Liz were with us through the entire process - even dropped by on the morning of the move. The 4 guys were very polite, professional and worked none stop. During the process we had to stop them and ask if they would take a quick bite to eat, i feel if we did not, they would just continue to get the job done. We used their unpacking and cleaning services aswell, and with that we got an addtional 25% off. At the end of it all, we received a lovely welcome to our new home gift and we thought that it was just so thoughtful; My wife were telling me that the top CEO of the company was a woman, and she insist that is the reason that made the difference. Well i might agree there, as the service were out of this world. Personally i was speechless how well it all went. If we should ever move again, no need to call anyone but them! We will definitely recommend them to everyone we know. Thanks again Liz, for making us believe in excellent service again. You guys are just great. Reyner Fam. Beverly Hills, CA
Every move is different, so it's vital to choose a moving company that's right for you. The first consideration you should make when hiring these professionals is how far you're moving.
Depending on the moving company, local moves are typically anywhere between one and 100 miles within the same state. Local moves are less complicated to plan, both for you and the movers you decide to hire. They're typically priced based on how much you need to move, how many movers the company plans to provide and how long the job is estimated to take.
Long-Distance and Interstate Moves
Even if you're staying in the same state, you may still technically be planning a long-distance move - though the exact mileage varies by moving company, these are typically moves that are more than 50 to 100 miles long or across state or country lines. In fact, even if you're moving within the same state but you have to go through another state or country first, it's likely considered an interstate move, rather than a local one. That's because the movers are technically transferring items between state lines, which means they'll be responsible for having the correct licensing and insurance in place.
Long-distance moves are much more complicated to plan, typically requiring you to pay numerous extra expenses for everything from shipping items to renting storage space.
Are you making a big move and trying to figure out exactly how much you should plan to spend? Or are you on a tight budget and looking to hire a mover who can keep costs low? Either way, it's important to understand how exactly moving companies charge their customers.
As mentioned above, for local moves, companies will charge based on the number of movers they provide and the amount of time they'll need to spend on the project. Generally, the more rooms in your apartment or house, the more movers and time you can expect to be charged for. The price of long-distance or interstate moves, on the other hand, will be based on the amount of belongings you have - and more specifically the weight of those belongings. The heavier the boxes or items you're shipping across state or country lines, the more expensive your move will be.
Moving costs will vary greatly, depending on where you are. Local moves in a small town in the Midwest will be much less expensive than comparable moves in New York City. For that reason, it's best to do some research about the going rates in your area.
No matter what type of move you're making, you can reach out to prospective moving companies for estimates - this is the best way to determine how expensive your move will be based on where you live and what services you're looking for. Typically, the moving company will send someone to your home who will do a walk through of each room, making note of the furniture, valuables and other belongings in each one. Then, he or she will provide an estimate. The exact amount you pay may, however, be different from the amount declared in the estimate. That's where the type of contract comes in.
Nonbinding vs. Binding Contracts
For any move, a company will ask you to sign a contract. It's crucial to know exactly what type of contract you're signing, though, to understand how much you can expect to pay. In basic terms, there are two types of moving contracts: binding and nonbinding. Binding, as well as binding not-to-exceed, contracts are the most preferable for people hiring movers. These list an estimated price the moving company cannot charge more than. So, even if your local move takes an hour longer or your belongings are heavier than expected for an interstate move, you're still only responsible for paying a fixed amount.
Nonbinding contracts, on the other hand, have no fixed final number. Instead, they list a rate - by the hour or by the pound/kilo - and you're responsible for paying exactly how much your move costs in those terms.
Keep in mind that movers provide a variety of services, many of which you may not require. These can affect how expensive your move will be. For example, a full-service move that includes packing and unpacking will be pricier than a local move that only includes loading the truck, driving it to the new home and unloading it.
For any move, there may be extra costs beyond the typical services offered. If you're asking your movers to transport large, hard-to-move items, like pianos, for instance, you'll likely pay an extra fee. Likewise, if your apartment building doesn't have an elevator or the truck has to be parked far from your home, you may be charged extra. Ask about these potential expenses when signing your contract.
Don't rush through the process of hiring a moving company. Make sure the movers you hire are dependable, reputable and the right fit for your needs.
Look for Reviews and Recommendations
When hiring movers, it's a good idea to both look at reviews online and ask your friends and family members for recommendations. Personal endorsements will go a long way toward helping you determine whether you can expect the company to do a quick and professional job.
Choose Top Candidates
As you're vetting candidates through reviews and recommendations, narrow your selection to three or four top options. Make sure the companies offer the type of move you're looking for, whether it's interstate or local. These three or four companies are who you'll contact for estimates.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
After receiving estimates, you'll have a better idea which companies are within your budget. However, this isn't the only factor you should use when choosing movers, especially for more complicated jobs. In fact, you may be willing to pay a little more to hire quality movers who can ensure the safety of your belongings. Don't be afraid to call these companies and ask questions.
During the hiring process, you want to make sure of three things: First, that the moving company is reputable and has the proper licensing and insurance. Second, that the movers are dependable, professional and committed to doing the job correctly. Finally, that the estimate provided is binding and that you're aware of any potential excess costs. With these factors in mind, here are some of the most important questions to ask a moving company:
As with any service profession, there are certain moving companies - though they are few and far between - that aren't reputable or that will try to take advantage of you. It's important to be able to recognize a scam if you come across one.
Call the FMCSA
For long-distance or interstate moves, you can easily check that companies have the proper licensing and insurance, which is a clear indication that they're legitimate. All interstate moving companies must be registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, so call 888-368-7238 to confirm the licenses, insurance and credentials of the movers you're considering. The FMCSA can also tell you if any complaints have been filed against a particular moving company.
Check with the American Moving and Storage Association
For both local and long-distance moving companies, AMSA is another good place to check out a company's legitimacy. Moving companies aren't required to be an AMSA member, but the ones that are have committed to the association's rules and regulations, which protect both the companies and the consumers hiring them. If a company isn't an AMSA member, that doesn't mean it isn't reputable, but an AMSA membership is a clear indication of legitimacy.
One of the most common fears people face when moving to a new home is that something they own will be lost or damaged in the process. While no company will be able to guarantee everything arrives safely, there are steps you can take to make damage less likely.
Pack and Transport Your Valuables
If you have items that are emotionally or financially valuable to you, do your best to pack and move them yourself. Keep jewelry, expensive artwork, inherited valuables and even costly electronics in your own car - that way you'll have complete control over their safety at all times.
Choose a Moving Company That Plans Ahead
Moving companies can better keep your belongings safe when the movers plan ahead. What does this mean? Many companies take extra time to measure doorways, halls and stairways to find the safest route in and out of your home. They should also provide furniture blankets, covers and moving pads to keep both your home and your belongings free of scratches or other damage.
Keep the Moving Area Safe
There are some things you can control on moving day and some things you simply can't, such as the weather. If you're moving on a snowy, icy or rainy day, keeping all of your paths, stairways and walkways clear and dry is crucial. This can help protect both the movers and the large items they're carrying to and from the truck.
The subject of tipping is relatively unclear when it comes to movers. However, there is a general rule of thumb that most people in the industry agree on: Tip your movers if they've done a good job and you think a tip is warranted.
Generally, a 5 percent tip is considered appropriate, though some people recommend paying $20 per day, per mover for basic, local moves. However, almost everyone agrees you should first do a quick walk-through of your home to check for any damage to your furniture or belongings and to make sure everything is where you'd like it to be.
If you do decide to give a tip, divide it evenly and give money to each individual, rather than giving the entire sum to the head mover and expecting it to be doled out equally. One type of tip to avoid: alcohol. It's usually illegal for movers to have bottles of alcohol in the truck or van, so tipping a bottle of wine or liquor could get them into trouble.
