My fiancée and I visited "LB Formal Wear" on February 4, 2012. It is the adjacent business operated by the same owner of "Leng Beauty Salon." We planned to rent a Cambodian traditional dress for our wedding on June 23, 2012 and left a $50 deposit for this purpose. We decided not to rent the dress since we couldn't fit changing outfits into our wedding day schedule. Upon returning to request the deposit on May 19, 2012, we were given half of the deposit ($25). My fiancee inquired why the full deposit was not being returned and the owner responded that it was her shop and she could run it per her prerogative. There was never any written or verbal agreement of the terms of the deposit. Nothing was disclosed about this and so we want the rest of the deposit back. We communicated to her that we would be reporting this issue to the BBB (and we did). She was very rude. We do not recommend this business to anyone. It is not necessarily the issue of the money (though we have requested that back). Rather, it is an issue of principle - we wanted to share this with the Yelp community.-----------****UPDATE AS OF JULY 23, 2012****I filed a complaint with the BBB and received this response back from the owner. It is amusing because it lacks anything factual (i.e. my *wife* tried on a *dress*, it took at most *20 minutes* for her look flip through a catalog and try *one* dress on). Owner is now claiming the half of the deposit she kept is for trying on clothes (who does this?). This owner is dishonest. Stay away from this shop. We want the rest of our $50 deposit back.BBB - Company's Initial Response - Posted 07/20/2012Company emailed: When he came in to our store, he took two hours plus to try on the tuxedo. Furthermore, He gave a deposit of $50. A couple of days after the deposit he came back demanded his deposit back. I refunded $25 of his deposit for all of the time he tried on the clothes. He told me he was too busy. He made a deposit for me to hold on to the tux so I wouldn't not rent the tux to anybody else which I didn't. It was available to him. I could not rent out that particular tux. I gave half in which case I do not have to refund him but I did anyway. I thought I did what I could to satisfy him. Thank You! From Business: Welcome to David’s Bridal Long Beach, California store, serving brides and special occasion customers of Buena Park, La Palma, Cypress and more. David’s Bridal is…
They lure you in with the BEST customer service. They came 4 hours late to the wedding. They told us the pick-up the silver platters and accessories the day before the wedding which we did. Then the owner said she will have the roses centerpiece design for the paka-sla which we ordered over weeks ago ready for the next day. In order for her to get the paka-sla we had to pay before she ordered. All the traditional Khmer wedding starts in the morning right? Well, we had to call and pay another make-up/hair artist to come in and do the bride/bridemaids hair/make-up. We tried calling them numerous times leaving messages asking when will they be here. We had important guests arrived and left early. We had to drive the monk back and rescheduled till noon. We had the band waiting for hours. We had to hold back our photographer and videographer. The bride (my sister) was crying because LB Formal Wear ruin her wedding day. When they (LB Formal Wear) arrived they said 'sorry, we didn't know it was today'. What BS right? Then they insulted my family. Now that's what made me really angry. Two days later we went to their shop to return all the silver platters and accessories. They said we broke their tiara. We said that's not our glue. That is very old glue someone used and it's yellow. So she shut-up and took the glue off threw it in the trash quick and changed the subject.Next she asked we pay the remaining balance plus the cost of the paka-sla. We said to them that they don't deserved the remaining balance because they ruin the wedding, we had to pay for the other make-up/hair artist who already had plans but came to my sister wedding to the rescue and we will not pay for the paka-sla because we paid it when we ordered a couple of weeks ago.LB Formal Wear is no good. They love to provide superb customer service when you put your down payment, then eat your money and come late. They are liars. Remember for any wedding planning/purchasing to have a written contract and receipts of EVERYTHING.
