Fatima African Hair Braiding & Design

I’ve been to Fatima’s about 5 times now and every time I’ve loved my style. The ladies are polite and work fast. They remember who you are and treat you with respect. Ever since I started getting my hair braided, I haven’t wanted to go anywhere else. These ladies are super talented and I always get complements on my hair. I’ve been to other salons where the service and general atmosphere isn’t good, but I know when I come here I will be treated with respect.

I made same day Appointment for 6pm via text message. I get here and one of the women working said my appointment was at 5:30. I kindly showed her the text messages. Mind you I only came in for a simply 3 french braids. Upon my arrival I'm told that another person who is doing 10 braids will be taken before me. I kindly told the woman who was supposed to do my hair that that was not okay as I made an appointment. The two women then started to argue with me about it. I apologize I was under the impression appointments were taken first. When I asked the taller woman if I could choose the hair for my braids and she acted as if she had no idea what I was talking about. She looked at me as if that was an out of ordinary request yet when I have come in the past never been an issue.I've been coming here for years and always had an amazing experience. This experience has definitely made me never want to come back.

I LOVE this salon! I was a bit confused on what style I wanted to get, and Fatima was being very patient and tried to help me find a style that would suit me. She also offered me food, and drinks, which was very nice of her. The employees are so fun to be around! Everyone made me feel like I was at home. And because of how much fun I was having, the process of my braiding my hair was a breeze! I had two people doing my hair by the way. And I liked how they didn’t braid my hair tight at all. The price was very affordable! (She offers credit card payments). After a month my braids are still looking fresh! Overall, I will definitely be coming back to get my hair done! They also have a barber and a hair stylist who is very convenient for me, because I can bring my son to get his hair shaved, and my daughter can get her hair pressed. If you want to get your hair done at a clean, professional, and fun salon, I advise to you go here! Thanks so much Fatima!

I would highly recommend Fatima's place if you want great results. I spent 8 hours at her salon and my hair turned out beautiful. Its really a work of art! Everyone comments on how amazing my hair looks. Thank you Fatima!

This place should not even be listed as a business! The service was horrible! They spent the majority of the time chattering away in their native language. Constant breakes were taken for them to eat and attend to crying babies. Constant gossiping about clients. It was a disaster!!! They braid slower than any place I've ever been (been getting braids for over 20 yrs). The hairstyles last 6 weeks if you're lucky! They are very discriminating towards non-african people! Women have called in threatening her because of the poor job that was done to their hair....Not good! I came in the day before to get an estimate (she was 45mins late). The following day when I returned she had went up on the price $40.00....go figure! If you are looking for good customer service in a professional and relaxing atmosphere...bypass this place!!! Most of the "decent" reviews are written by her family members and employees! She asked me to write her a good review before she even started on my hair!!!

This place is fantastic for natural hair. This is a very home like place and they do very good hair. Love their products. A++++

Fatima does great work, nice & neat. I'm a firm believer that you pay for what you get. I will definitely be going back, clean shop, warm welcoming & she does good work.

Discriminating establishment! While the braid were decent I will never frequent this establishment again! I scheduled an 8a Saturday appointment for my exchange student who has been getting braids her whole life. It typically takes 8 hours to get her braids done. Upon arriving on time to our appointment we had to wait 15 minutes to get in the building which had Saturday hours of 7a-7p. When the doors were open we still had to wait for the owner and upon the arrival she ate her breakfast before starting on my daughter's head. Before starting she made a comment about how my exchange student must be mixed (not sure why that makes a difference) because she had thick hair. I returned to get my daughter after 8 hours only to have Fatima berate my 16 year old student because I was there and she did not give permission to tell me to come. I politely explained that I was back because it normally takes 8 hours at we were at that point. She had a small chunk of hair left to braid plus clean up and dipping. I volunteered to run my friend to Walmart to get stuff and come back. We were gone for another hour and upon my second return she was barely any further. In total it took her 11.5 hours! 3.5 of which I was there waiting. My daughter told me that she was consistently on the phone. Would not allow her to eat until she was ready to eat which was hours after she asked to eat. It was not until my friend asked her how much longer did she get someone to help her finish up. Fatima assumed that because I was caucasian that I did not understand the process for getting braids. My friend, who happens to be African American, received more respect in this shop than myself or my student who actually paid the extremely high rate! There is no reason that it should have taken 3.5hours longer than normal especially when I was sitting and waiting and it should have only taken maybe an 1 hour longer with what was left when I arrived the first time. I will never go again and I hope no one I know does either! The one star was for the decency in the braids.

Fatima is good at what she does. (You won't have a headache when she's through). When it comes to the price she will stick you up if you know what I mean. I desperately needed my hair done and she saw that. Her assistant helped her but she wasnt as gentle. The job was done in 11hrs. I had individuals with synthetic hair and waves. The length ends higher than my stomache. When it comes to the shop, it was decent as far as cleanliness goes. The reason I give it two stars is because she was on time, she made sure the style I wanted was agreed on, and it wasn't a good day for her but she was trying to be as friendly as possible. One more negative is that the trim wasn't even. I have been getting compliments but the price was rediculous.

Let me explain how wonderful Fatima and her staff were to do my daughters hair. My daughter is in college, called when she was coming home and said she wanted braids.....I have not had my hair in braids in years and honestly had no ideas where to go. Looked up Fatima on line, and found her, and I was very pleased with the service, the cleanliness of her shop, and prices. AND the biggest one was her flexibilty to take her on a Sunday - no one does that. She worked with me to schedule and had 2 people work on my daughter's hair, so it took 1/2 the time. We were in and out and her hair is absolutely beautiful. We will go back again and I will get mine done also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Fatima!

I found Fatima African Hair Braiding online. I called and she was able to fit me in on Short notice. She and 2 other ladies showe up at 5am to start on my micro braids and I was out of the by 12:30pm. It was an overall great experience. And yes, I will be going back!

I was very pleased with the service I recieved. Fatima (the owner) was very friendly and accomodating. When my boyfriend mentioned he was cold she quickly turned the heat up and then back down when he warmed up. As far as my hair she did a spectacular job I am a very tender headed person and she was very gently and this was the very first time I wasn't on the brink of tears from getting the micros. My hair was beautifully done. The shop was nice and clean and to make sure that I was able to get out for work on time she asked her assistant to help her braid my hair to get it done more quickly. I will definately be returning to Fatima in about three months!! :)
