I want to love this place, but keep coming back to disappointment. The cover charge policy is a joke...borderline fraudulent. Three of five times I've reserved a table and told the time a cover charge would begin and was lied to. Brian (owner) simply starts charging cover when the place begins to get busy, despite telling people a specific time (even if you get the person's name, admitting that you'd been screwed a few times by this. The food is decent...decent, but he charges like it's a five star formal. Simply over-priced. Beer prices are way too high...again, charging as if he's in an upscale establishment. Prices change without notice when the place gets busy and you are not told. You don't know you got burned until the bill comes. Just way too expensive.!Again, I've tried to like the place, but Brian has out-grown his britches and forgot about the people that set him up. My group used to go often, but now just very occasionally. If the food prices find their way back down to Earth and the beer specials come back, we'll come back.
Questioned the bill about being overcharged on Happy Hour beers. The bartender called the manager and he literally threw me out.
What a total bummer that I can "top this" with a visit to McDonald's. We walk in, it's stone quiet, and a big empty floor greeting us. We sat done and couldn't place our order for about 10 minutes. Then it took another 25 minutes to get our food. The food was ok, not worth a 25 minute wait. To top it off, we had to go up to get our bill, as now my lunch hour is more than over. No apologies. The credit card machine was broken. The waitress never checked up on us. There was only 1 waitress, which shouldn't have been a problem as there were only 3 tables. I so wanted it wto work. We won't be going back. Pretty much same review as Michael B.
Michigan vs Syracuse…Called@ 12 pm for beer specials ($3 u-call-its) so I made reservation for 6 people. We arrived & were seated @ table for only 4 w/chairs. Told the hostess my reservation for 6 people & she stated no other tables or chairs available. Looking around I saw many tables empty for later reservations with unoccupied chairs. She said those chairs are reserved...um excuse me? Did I not have a reservation???? Looking around more I also saw a chair holding open mens room door, another outside on the unused patio yet no chairs available. Hostess was an absolute joke!! She tried to give me a line about how she isn’t the one who handles the reservations & does “this stuff”…finally she said they sometimes book more than they can accommodate. DING!DING!DING! Give her a gold star or something shiny to play with.Ordered a black & tan...20 mins later waitress came back & said we aren’t making that...I’ve ordered this here before..what’s the issue now?? Specials were starting @ 9pm (however I wasn’t told that when I first called). Promptly at 9pm waitress said the manager pulled the specials & they’re not doing those anymore. BAIT & SWITCH!! Your place is completely packed for this game & u yank the specials knowing if people leave it will be extremely difficult to find a place to watch this game. Is that legal?..Definitely shady!!! YOUR BEER IS WAY OVERPRICED AS IT IS! We got the tab, specifically asked for Brian who is the manager/owner to speak with us. He would not come over to our table. Way to man up & explain the situation.…oh wait…you didn’t!!Extremely delighted I haven’t given the banquet room deposit…I will NEVER associate w/your shady business again!
Great beer list, decent service. However food was average, nothing special for the price we paid. Probably won''t go back.... can go anywhere with a beer list and ok food
Let me start off by saying that I wish this place was better, since it is minutes from my home. I have gone here three times, with the hopes that they would get better. Every time I have gone to One Under they are out of a beer I want on tap. Every time. On our third visit it became a joke - I told my waitress that they run out of beer all the time and then ordered a Guinness. She came back and told me they were out of Guinness. We then ordered their "Beer of the month" that was posted on the front door. Well, she came back and told us that that keg had just ran out and they had no more. On previous visits we had the same issues - draft beers that they were out of, even bottled beers they had run out of. On our last visit during dinner time everyone was eating, and a waitress was going around cleaning off tables with a horrible lemon-ammonia cleaner that made you sick. Yes - while everyone was eating. The manager (owner?) that is there is young, and obviously does not have the expertise to have a nice place. It's sad really, because the food is good and I like the setup. Three strikes and you're out - we won't be back.
