I've had a very similar problem with the Jewelry Exchange/ Factory in Livonia. purchased my wedding set there in 1999. My diamond came loose twice, so the third time I took it in they said they had to send it away and they did. after almost 8 weeks and endless calling they admitted that their repair in California had melted my setting! the small chip diamonds we're gone somewhere but they had my original stone sent back to the Livonia store. so when I went into the store I was told I had to purchase another setting to put it in but it would only cost me around $80! they melt my setting but I've got to pay $80 more for another one and it isn't the one I got married in! so I agree and come home with a different setting and my original stone in it. since then I replaced the chip stones twice and then last fall I look down at my ring and my center stone was gone! the crown broke with a prong and my center stone was missing and never found. I contacted them the other day and as usual they want me to come in and purchase another diamond!! Really! shoddy workmanship and definitely don't care if the customer's happy. Seems like it doesn't matter where you go, the quality isn't there.

My fiancee purchased my engagment ring from here and I loved it! Great looking diamond, great service and best of all great price! The jewelry stores in the mall couldn't come close to getting the quality diamond that we wanted for the price. My diamond looks so much better then any of my friend who got their rings at mall stores or other jewelry stores and paid way more. Highly reccommend!! Plus the salesperson was so helpful and making this a wonderful time.

My husband, now my ex, purchased a diamond and setting from this store. He is a disabled marine on a fixed income. The salesperson showed him a diamond that was part of a set of earrings. The total purchase was just over $2300.00...that was 4 years ago. Since then the price of gold and diamonds has doubled. I took my ring to two independent licensed and NAJA member jewelers thinking I could at least get maybe $3000 out of the ring. I was astonished that the most they would give me is $700.00. I was absolutely dumbfounded so they both explained that the diamond was chipped when it was mounted and it is an enhanced diamond (meaning the flaws were filled with a glass like material) so it should never be cleaned with a machine or ultrasonic cleaner. Now none of this was explained to my husband, he is disabled, not stupid. So I recently visited the store and acted as a customer who need the receipt for the ring reprinted. I then explained my dilemma with the ring which after 4 years was probably only really worth about $500.00 when it was purchased. I was instructed that they never sell a chipped diamond or an enhanced diamond, but I have both. Trust me I would never be able to afford to switch the diamond. He instructed me to read the fine print on the back of the receipt because their advertised ""appraise for double"" is only good for 30 days. You have to pay for a independent appraisal from a list they supply, or the ring must be return in perfect condition, same as when it left the store. Well my ring is the same as when it left the store and they will not even just refund me the original purchase price. Both jewelers I went to said they have customers every week from this store and none of the jewelry is even close to the purchase price. And use their appraisers, well that's a scam in itself, like they are gonna say it appraises for less. And what fiancee do you know that is going to ask to have her ring appraised from her new fiancee in 30 days...none. I will be contacting my attorney, any news station that will listen and you will find me picketing in front of the store if it is not resolved with my next visit to the store. Sending ring to North Carolina to a gemologist that does this for a living and has been to court on several cases with several stores, including the Jewelry Factory. My suggestion, save yourself the aggravation of dealing with a company that does not stand behind their promises.
This place is a RIPOFF!!! I had a broken bracelet that took 3 weeks to repair a link. When I went to pick it up I was informed that an additional link had to be replaced but the store did not contact me to ask for my approval (but of course I would have agreed) the mgr said that because I was not contacted they would not charge an additional fees. Of course they shouldn't. The kicker was the sales lady that was helping me got totally pissed because the mgr would not charge me the xtra fee! I couldn't believe it! She wouldn't even help me put the bracelet back on. Oh and by the way my bracelet broke again 3 DAYS LATER! I found another business and they only charged 15.00. My husband purchased a ring from them once I saw the ring I knew he got ripped off, Before we left the store with the ring we wanted to return it but of course they only give store credit and they charged him another 90.00 to size the ring! Finally we took the ring to be appraised and of the price was much lower than what he paid. He could've got a lot more for his money somewhere else.

I have made 3 recent purchases from The Jewelry Factory, although I only went in initially to window shop !!
The customer service, selection and prices were awesome. I wanted to have the earring backs upgraded on my purchase and they were ready quickly and look beautiful. One of my purchases was a 14k gold chain and when I got home and tried it on, it was shorter than I wanted. No problem, on my return, Adrianna, the best salesperson, showed me alternatives and even checked the safe to find a perfect exchange !! I love all three items and would shop there again and have already shared my experience with friends. Youv'e got to check them out !!

I have made two fairly pricy purchases as this location. Both items were custom. Both times, the service I received was excellent. My wedding set--we purchased the stone and setting from this location--is unique and gorgeous, and it appraised for much more than double the price I paid. I saved a significant amount of money there.
The second item I purchased last week. I had ordered a custom cut stone from a gem cutter and was looking for a setting. The stone was very large, so my options were limited to only one setting. It was gorgeous, but expensive, thus I decided to do some more shopping. But after visiting another store I had done business with before, getting a bit of a runaround, and receiving a price quote of more than double the quote I’d received at The Jewelry Factory, I went right back and made the purchase. The ring is GORGEOUS, and the jeweler did a fantastic job setting it. This was no easy job, so I was extremely pleased.
You can bet I’ll be back again. And that other store...? I won’t waste my time again.
As far as the appraisal goes: It didn’t appraise for double, but a custom ring doesn’t qualify for the guarantee. It still appraised for significantly more than I paid (including setting charge). Therefore, it was still a good value.

My mother passed away in March at 90. While going through her jewelry, we found her engagement ring, which had to be cut off years ago due to a thinning band and bloating from meds. August would have been her 70th anniversary. On September 3, I decided to bring it to the Jewelry Factory to see if it could be repaired. They said it would take a week. I got a call the next morning (Mom's 91st birthday-and already emotional) saying it was finished. When we picked it up, we could not believe it was the same dull, broken & bent 70-year old ring! My sisters were amazed and regretting their decision to take the intact wedding band & mother rings instead. Thank you SO much. I've NEVER seen this ring look so beautiful in all the years my mother wore it. Looks like it's good to go for another 70 years. That staff (especially Cathy) was very helpful & friendly. JOB SO WELL DONE! Thanks!

I brought my mom's wedding set in to have it sized to my finger. Before the woman behind the counter even looked it closely, I mean REALLY looked at it. she said she could tell the prongs were worn and would need to be replaced. She had her ""jeweler"" look at it, and he agreed. Quoted me a price of $270.00 for the sizing and prong re-tipping. AND, they wouldn't size it unless I agreed to have the prongs done. I couldn't afford the $270.00 so I didn't have it done. Not there anyway. I took it to another jewelry store, in Westland. and they did it for $120.00. My math tells me that's well under half of what The Jewelry Factory wanted to charge me. What a scam. I know I did not wear my ""rip me off"" head band that day either. Shame on you, Jewelry Factory in Livonia....

After researching diamonds and talking to several public and private diamond dealers we got the best quality for the best price in town. Additionally, the service is an exemplary model of what customer service should be in every aspect. They don't work on commission, so they are not pushy at all. Joann was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant, patient, and able to immediately determine our needs (style, price range, etc.). Since there are 17 locations owned by one person, they are truly able to give you the best price in town and guarantee it because they will pay you 120% of the sale, if you can find it cheaper. My ring is beautiful!!

I purchased a one carat diamond ring in memory of my mother who passed away a few months ago. I had done a lot of research as to where was the best place to buy a diamond in my area, I chose the Jewelry Factory in Livonia, MI. I was not disappointed, MaryAnn was awesome! My ring is beautiful and appraised for almost double what I paid for it. This is the only place I will shop and MaryAnn is the one to see!
My fiance proposed on New Years Eve 2009. My ring was beautiful. The ring and diamond were purchased at different stores. Livonia Jewelry Factory was where the diamond was purchased. The diamond was a great value for how wonderful the quality is... the problem was they said they would have no problem setting the diamond in a ring that they did not sell at their store. 2 days after wearing my ring, the diamond shifted. Terrified I was going to lose my diamond I stopped wearing it. I took it for an appraisal and it was recommended that I continue not wearing my ring until I get it looked at by a jeweler. I took it to the store my ring (not the diamond) was purchased. They stated that the diamond was set incorrectly and it was going to cost around $250 for them to send it out to rebuild the head of the ring that the diamond sits in. When I called The Jewelry Factory they told me to bring in the ring because they wanted to see how poorly the diamond was actually set (a reasonable request). When I drove 30 mins to show them the ring I was told nothing was wrong. Then after a few mins it was acknowledged that it looked like the diamond shifted. Then the woman asked if I hit it on anything. I wore the ring for 2 days, I was offended they tried to blame it on me. They said they would reset it if I wanted. NO THANKS! The jeweler that the ring was purchased from could not even reset it. That is why he needed to send it to the place that particular ring is designed and made, and they thought I would just agree to let them set have another try at setting it! Then the man the sold my fiance the diamond came up to me and said that my fiance specifically requested the diamond be set low and that is why they had trouble setting it. My fiance would have no clue the difference between setting the diamond high or low. He would never have said that; again trying to put blame on us! I left there upset, with a $50 gift card (their way of repaying my fiancé's fee for them setting the diamond) and went back to the jeweler that the ring was purchased from so they could send it out for repairs. In the end, we spent more money, and the first two weeks of being engaged I am ringless (and every engaged woman knows the ring is the first thing people ask to see when you tell them you are engaged.)
I was also shocked to see that the store isn't the one you see in the commercials. Beyond that, the lady that helped my fiance and I was excellent. Your experience here probably depends a lot on who helps you. This store had by far the best prices on loose diamonds compared to the other stores we visited. The other thing that we liked (especially my fiance) was that there isn't sales commission, so the lady helping us was very relaxed and not pushy at all. My fiance bought the diamond and they had it set and sized within two hours! Bottom line... don't expect to be pampered when you go here, but if you want an exceptional deal, definitely consider this store. PS - she got my ring in $1500 under budget!
