My Father stayed in Heartland at the Livonia and 5 Mile location for three weeks and my family was very displeased. He went in with two wounds and came out with three wounds (bed sores) which is in indication of lack of care. And he also acquired pneumonia while at Heartland. The nursing staff advised us that they were not at liberty to provide test results from a CBC or urine culture and that we would have to speak to the doctor. However, the doctor advised that the nurses are able to provide test results, just not provide a plan of action. Our family never received consistent information from the staff and they were slow to answer phone calls and return phone calls. My Father was on a pureed diet and when the food tray came, the meal slips would never indicate what types of foods were on the tray. When we asked if anyone could identify the meal items, we were told that there is no on there to do that and it could not be done. One week before my Father was set to move to another rehabilitation facility, his diet was upgraded to a mechanical soft diet, but Heartland never placed the new diet orders from the Speech Therapist in the file. This location definitely needs to do many upgrades to the rooms (beds, showers, TVs, etc.), common areas (dining hall, hallways, etc.) and family quarters. This location is lacking in several areas. I have a grandmother that is a very nice person; she is not one of those people that are mean and demanding. She is a person that does NOT want to be a bother yet she is getting ignored. She s/b getting a shower 2x a wk and have not had one for 2 wks. There was a time that when having stomach pain asked to Dr if she could have some Morton and the Dr said yes it then took 4hrs and mutli times of asking to get it. Also there have been at least 2 times they left her on the toilet for more then an hr even after pulling the string to have help. Grated she has said that there are some ads that are very nice and then there are some that are like what do you want. Then there was a time that they helped her get dressed and failed to give her oxygen and didn’t come back and she had to get out of a wheel chair and climb over the bed to get it. I am not very happy and that is not right to treat anyone like that. We have spoken to the social services about this and they said that they will talk to the ones on call but my Grandmother says she is still being ignored.
