Right from the start this experience was HORRIBLE!!!!! Do noT do business with this company. I went through Home Depot hoping they had a reputable installer but was greatly dissapointed. I wish I would have seen these reviews before I ordered my flooring because it would have saved me a lot of grief! STAY CLEAR OF ULTIMATE INSTALLATION IN LIVONIA, MI.
I purchased flooring from Abbey Flooring and worked with Debbie and Steve and it was a great experience overall! The installation was smooth sailing....I would go back to them for other floor purchases.
Absolutely horrible! Get your own installer these people are the worst! Save your money and your sanity! I could go on and on on the runaround, unprofessional attitudes, scheduling appts and then never showing up, not calling...etc... Save yourself and use a different contractor. They shouldn't even be in business!
After the owner of J&R Flooring contacted us to give a review we was surprised to read the negative comments made against this company. We have had J&R Flooring do hardwood floor installations involving 3/4's of our home and also bedroom carpeting. We were very satisfied with price,quality, and installation. This was not laminate hardwood. This was the real deal. They did an excellent job in a timely manner and I would recommend them. It is a shamed how one bad apple can spoil the whole bushel. We would do business with J&R Flooring again.
As soon as upper management became aware of the below described incident The person who was assigned this project has been fired. We do not in anyway condone this type of negative behavior. As we all know there is also two sides to every story. After these people canceled our original install date based on what we later find out is a lie...a 1.5 day job turned into a 3 day job...and I was sexually harassed constantly by their installer! It got to the point where we called the company and they sent out someone to babysit him but it still didn't stop him. We were assured after day 2 that he would be fired...guess who showed up the morning of day 3?!? I called the company and told them to drop off the molding and I'd finish it myself because he wasn't getting back in my home. We were again ASSURED he had been fired by the owner.Before we knew better we had suggested the company to a friend. After they AGAIN canceled on the day of her install date guess who shows up to do the job...the CREEPY CARPENTER!Do not trust this company or their installers around women or children! Absolutely appalling that they let this guy continue to work for them after knowing he harassed someone! Oh and BRIAN who reviewed on here WAS THE BABYSITTER they sent over! He heard the comments first hand!!!
our experience with Ultimate was HORRIBLE. Home Depot contracts with them for installation and talk about the run around! We were scheduled for a two day installation and the first installer arrived, late, and took a look at the floor and told us that there was no way to install the floor as there were too many structural issues. We paid for extra labor and leveler knowing that some work would be needed. The installer recommended we hire a carpenter to sand and fix, so I did that very same day with the impression that the installers would come back. When I called to say that I handled the situation, their installer said that a carpenter is not a floor guy and he would not come back because he did not want to "lose another day of work." When I called ultimate, and Home Depot, to ask why no one would be coming, Ultimate agreed to send an area manager to look at the floor. This manager arrived four days later and agreed that the floor could be put in, they just didn't know when. I expressed the need to have the floor in as soon as possible, especially since I had already been scheduled. The manager said he would call me back that same afternoon. Not only did he not call back, but when I did manage to get a hold of him, he stated the soonest he could get me scheduled was two weeks. This is, unfortunately, a very brief recounting of what has been a week's nightmare. Frankly, Ultimate really didn't seem to care, nor did they even apologize for the rudeness of the first installer, the wait, or the headache. As long as Home Depot continues to contract with this unorganized, rude, inept company, I will not be shopping with them!
I was disappointed about how the Abbey's salesman handled my case. A 1-week job lasted over 1 month, and still not done today. It was first was paused due to material shortage, then later due to poor workmanship. I ordered hard wood flooring, but the nosing was substituted with another species of wood, and the first step riser was substituted with a thin veneer! It was bubbly and squeaky when I put my finger on it. When I showed the salesman, he said "don't touch it." Really? In middle of the month, I called the salesman, requesting to move my furniture back and at least to reset my toilet. The appointment was scheduled but only furniture was moved. They claimed that they don't have material to reset the toilet. During the 3rd week I called the installer, he gave me an evening time to reset the toilet. However, on that day he did not show up or call... My toilet was reset after a month, finally! Furthermore, the stair rails were damaged during the installation, one side showed chips and holes and gaps, the other side was unstable and squeaky. When I pointed them out to the salesman, he said because my stair was old (less than 30 years), and that it was what he expected. He also said that his people are "not going to spend 5 days to fix the rail". His unprofessional attitude was beyond my belief. I requested the first riser to be done with the same hard wood as stated in contract, or use custom-made engineered wood with reasonable discount, he told me "No, that's too expensive. You wanted the cheap way. We can somehow bend a half inch engineered wood and get the job done that way." Maybe you can tell me, is a 5-digit payment to Abbey a cheap order? Is this how they treat their customers? I was told to talk to the store owner to revolve this. I'm awaiting their response and will give update.
I would not let them do my floors if it was free. We had a horrible experience with this company. Installers do bad work, are disrescpectful and almost ruined my walls and baseboards! It took over 5 weeks to put in harwood, carpet and vinyl is a 1600 square foot home. The owner just kept calling and wanting money before the work was performed. I had to hire a painter and another floor installer to fix their mistakes.RUN away from this company. If I could give them ZERO stars I would!
