I was referred to the St Joseph East Pain Management and Rehab center by my doctor in Richmond. On my third visit, just shortly after paying my $30 copay, I had to leave because of the smell in the waiting room area. The body odors, old cigarette smoke, and smells from the submarine sandwich meal that one person had setup in the chair next to them was more than my wife and I could tolerate. During my last visit, it was the Dairy Queen breakfast meal that a person was sitting on the floor and eating that about made me sick. I’ve never been to a rescue mission but St Joseph East has certainly created what I imagine one to be like. I realize that the staff cannot control the personal hygiene of the patients but I do believe they could discourage eating meals in the waiting room. I will never go back to that facility again. The smoke smell that stuck to my clothing is reminder enough. I did not have any problems with the staff or the doctor that I did see on the first two occasions but I would not recommend this place to anyone except as a very last option. I have been to other pain clinics and more than one urgent care facilities and several doctors offices in my 65 years but this one definitely should be avoided if at all possible. I would like to point out that I am not currently taking any medication prescribed by them nor have I requested any pain medication from them. We were still discussing the types of imaging that would be possible for my back because an MRI is not an option with my medical implants.

I have been going here now going on 6 years and this is a busy place and always full every time I go. The only problem I have is you see a different doctor about every time I go. And the staff and doctors has always been professional and respectful to me. They have got most of my pain under control, but with the ongoing drug abuse problem they are limited to how much pain medication they can prescribe and have to make sure you are using your medication as prescribed. And with every visit you have to take labs and a drug screening which I'm ok with that. But if you really need help with pain. They will help you. If your wanting a place for anything else. This isn't going to happen here. And there not going to help you. This is what's making it hard on the people who really need help.
Dr. Bosomworth is a fine person . But, he has a woman working for him that schedules the apts. that is not friendly, she is rude and wont listen to what you are trying to tell her.Question: Why oh why would any Dr. especially a pain Dr. have someone like this employed for him? Someone please tell me why? A person is trying to get help for pain . If they didn't have pain to start with, she would give them pain before they hang the phone up!!
I've being coming her for a long time, but the Drs. Here use to be very understanding. Now it's like they don't care about you, just worried that they may do something wrong and the gov. Going to come in and shut them down. If they're not doing anything wrong why should they act like there walking on pins and needles. Now they are taking people's meds away from them. I like it there, but I can't live a decent life if they keep takin my meds. I do nothing wrong and I take my meds like I'm suppose to, but they don't care any more. Lost and confused!
Dr Harries was professional and nice informative. Found my problem within minutes and his office has been extremely helpful with Surgeon and Endocrinologist
I went here years ago and all the doctors were great until ballard wright he talked to me like I was trash for taking pain medicine they wrote me and I saw a few women come out crying he needs to retire and let people with hearts take over
This may be an outstanding pain clinic, but the receptionist is EXTREMELY rude. After calling with a polite inquiry, i was met with the rudest, most unhelpful, and unprofessional response. Although I could easily obtain a doctors' referral, and proof of insurance to cover my visit, i refuse to do so after being treated with such completely uncalled-for disrespect. Wish i could put no star at all.
I was called for a pill count on the day my children were faced with taking their father off of life support and watch him die, it was a very sudden thing and he was very young, I would not let my children face that alone. I was not only dismissed, my scrips and refills were canceled by calling my pharmacy :'(
