All Buyers Beware.....1st let me say do not place anything on layaway. Recently they were purchased by a company called First Cash which also owns several of the other chain pawn shops in the area (NOT THE CASTLE) and customer service all rules are changed. If you put an item on LAYAWAY...although they do not verbally tell ...do not highlight or tell you you lose all your money if you default....they are the only company anywhere that does this......If you do not get that item out of layaway...THEY KEEP EVERY DIME YOU HAVE PAID ON IT and claim this is legal. Do not fall for this. It is in the fine print of your layaway receipt. For example...you buy a ring for 1500.00 and pay 500.00 down. If you do not make a payment after 33 days...3 days after the due date..it is forfeited and they say the money you put down is theres. If this has happened to you...immediately file a complaint with the BBB...call their corporate office in Texas,,,,at 1-800-572-3577 and issue a complaint and call the IRS as receiving money for nothing is a separate tax issue that needs to be addressed. Normal business practice is to give you a store credit. If you have already or have to put something on layaway...use a credit card. This will allow you to file a chargeback on the card...no merchandise received....the card company will challenge the purchase for you. BAD BAD business practices. There are great pawnshops around...try a family owned pawnshop. They are much more customer oriented
