Rosalie K.

I have a Catalina 22 sailboat and took it in to Pauls because it was stalling and also I could not raise the prop out of the water and lock it into place before raising the sails, it would not stay locked into position and kept falling back into the water. I had to wait a week and a half for them to even begin looking at the motor, and I understood. When I was called to pick up my motor, I paid $145.00 for the services then I went to go get my motor from the service area. It was then that I discovered that the motor prop still would not lock into place when tilted and notified the service tech. The service man who supposedly worked on it did not seen all that concerned that this was still a problem and took a flat head screwdriver and jimmied the tilt lock mechanism until it locked into place, then told me that it was fixed. I expressed uncertainty that the underlying problem was taken care of. He did not attempt to address it or fix it and assured me that the problem was taken care of after playing around with the screwdriver until it locked a couple of times and sent me on my way. When I went to take friends out for sailing two nights later, we could not sail because, again, I was not able to pull the motor out of the water and lock it into place, it kept falling back into the water. Evening was ruined because we wanted to sail. I called Jason the Service Manager to explain the situation and he told me that I would have to bring it in and pay another service call to have this problem looked at. He was not apologetic, and was firm in his decision, even though I reminded him that I already paid for this issue and was told that it was fixed. I am deeply upset and frustrated at how I was ripped off by Pauls Marine, will take my loss and search for a much more professional and reputable company to handle my needs. My advice to others is not to trust Paul,s Marine for any services as you will waste your money and be treated very badly.
