Salesperson took 3 hours to quote us a price even after we insisted that he give us to-the-point details versus an entire history of the evolution of windows. SOME pertinent information and demonstrations for the layman are wonderful, but we don't care for an entire history of windows for hours upon hours. The quote he read us after three hours was outrageous, and then after we asked him for a copy of it, he refused to provide because "my handwriting is sloppy," which further raises suspicion. After reading the negative reviews on social media, we will not go with this company. Customer service and reputation online is everything nowadays. If you start off not listening to the customer when we ask you to get to the meat and potatoes of your sales pitch, and you take up three excruciating hours of our time, you've lost the sale right there. You further lost us by not providing the bid.
THIS IS A COPY OF THE MESSAGE I SENT TO THERMAL KING WINDOWS ON THEIR WEBPAGE UNDER “CONTACT US” ON 12/05/2015.
December 5, 2015
To Whom It May Concern:
On August 24, 2015 I signed a contract for the installation of 3 Thermal King windows at a total cost of $3356.00; these windows were installed on November 11, 2015. At the time the installation was completed, I told the installer I did not like the look of the windows and that the quality of workmanship was not acceptable. I was told that I would be receiving a follow-up from your company and that I should express my concerns at that time. To date, I have not received that follow-up; therefore, I am sending this to you via your webpage.
I am very DISSATISFIED with the quality of your windows. Your salesman showed me a very lovely sample of the windows I would be receiving. I DID NOT RECEIVE WINDOWS THAT LOOKED LIKE THE SAMPLE. Every mitered corner of each window has a raised strip that I am assuming hides the miter seam. This strip varies in depth on ALL corners; some are definitely higher than others and some look as though an ATTEMPT was made to sand down the strip to be even with the window material. Some of the corners have sharp edges and I cut my finger on one of them when I was cleaning the glass. The quality of the workmanship on these windows, in my opinion, DO NOT warrant the high cost of your windows. I regret having paid your company $3300 for windows that I could get from Home Depot or Lowes for less than 1/3 of the cost of yours. In addition, I have seen a finished Andersen window on one of my neighbor’s windows and it looks fantastic and they paid a lot less. I would suggest you go back to your design experts and redesign the corners.
Unfortunately your salesman did not have a sample or even a photo of what the fascia of the outside windows would look like. They are VERY UNATTRACTIVE! The sides extend below the tops/bottoms and the white sealant is rough, not consistent and not quality of an EXPENSIVE window installation. Your salesman stated in his presentation that all Thermal King employees were trained expressively in producing and installing quality windows. I feel you need to provide better training.
Three of my neighbors saw your sign in the my yard and asked me how I like them. I showed them the windows and told them what I have outlined above; also sent them to Jack’s house to see his Andersen windows. Would I ever recommend Thermal King windows? NEVER!!! Would I replace my other windows with Thermal King windows? NEVER!!! I regret having purchased your windows.
Just say no. They tried the old we need your wife there routine with me too. We are a two income family and work different schedules. Now the salesman comes buy and gives his spill, everything sounds the same as the last window company, get on to the price. He quotes a price will over $1,000 a window and this is after about three different discounts were added in. So he tells me the price; it took everything in my power not to laugh this guy out of my house. Never got the written estimate from them. Called and called and called, nothing. What company acts like this? Can you imagine paying 2 or 3 times the amount you should have and for windows, only to have a problem and they will not call you back or treat you poorly with the warranty? I wonder what their answer will be when this company has some one call the media and expose some of these things?

I am very pleased with my Thermal King Windows!
It wasn't a purchase I was looking forward to, kind of like a trip to the dentist. I would much rather plan a trip to the beach, but Thermal King made our experience quick and painless. I didn't even mind writing the check at the end because our windows are so fantastic. Everything from our first meeting with the salesperson to the installation was professional. I've even noticed that our air conditioning is more efficient. We used to set our thermostat at 69 or 70 and now set it at 74 or 75. I am convinced it's because our windows are not allowing heat to enter into our home.
The best thing is that we will not have to worry about buying windows again as long as we live in this house...but if we do move, we will DEFINITELY buy Thermal King Windows!

I bought two windows from Thermal King after hearing their ads on the radio. I had a great experience with them. The salesman came to the house and was prompt and professional. He took the time not only to show us his product but also to educate us on what to look for in replacement windows.
The main reason we bought is because the windows are second to NONE. We like to take care of our house, and these windows aren't even in the same league with the cheap-ees you hear advertised for $189 (Oh, you want glass with that?) If you are putting windows in your home and don't at least look at Thermal King, you are doing yourself a diservice.
And, BTW. . .I did read the posts about rude sales people and ""sexist"" policies, and yeah, they did ask that my wife and i both be present so that they didn't have to go over everything twice -- makes sense to me that they are just trying to be efficient with their time. And, yes, they did ask us to buy at the end of the demo, and offered us a better price to do so. We took it. If someone thinks that's high pressure then maybe they should shop at a big box store where NOBODY talks to them.
Bottom line -- my experience wasn't even close to the other negative comments. They sound like thin skinned people to me.
Will definately buy from them again.

Sorry, but I just kicked the estimator out and told him not to return. The estimator came exactly on time, went upstairs, looked at the window that needs replacing and then said: ""Where's your husband, I can't give you an estimate without your husband."" I asked if he was joking, but no, even their manager confirmed that is their sexist business policy. No estimate if the husband is not home. Good luck with running that kind of company, you certainly won't get my business!
We ordered our windows back in June, shortly after moving into our home and discovering the windows were less than desirable.I won’t go into that. We had replaced the windows in our previous home, with double hung blah blah bah and discovered a good quality window is only as good as its installation. And so we convinced ourselves to fork over the big $ and go with Thermal King this time, based upon the guarantee of non-subcontracted installers. Now, I confess I did not truly expect the awesome job they did.
They went above and beyond the basic requirement of providing and excellent installation of our triple pane windows complete with professional casing and insulation: cheerfully removing and rehanging all wooden blinds; cleaning the upper door half-round as they installed it, removing every tiny bit of debris at the end of the day, you’d never have known they were there; removing their shoes upon entering the home; even taking cookies from the oven while I was outside filling the kiddie pool for the children. Funnily, the cookies were a thank you for them, for slaving away in the heat!
I would recommend them and their windows to anyone. They were courteous, polite and well mannered, besides being nice young men. I also appreciated the kindness with which they interacted with our 3 young children.
We felt compelled to write this review as we are so very pleased with the recent addition of our Thermal King windows.
It was the installation team that really impressed us with the company! Charlie, Lee and Kerry made up the hardest working crew we have ever seen.We are so impressed with their work ethics, consideration and pride in work. If the company has any type of performance incentives/rewards, this crew is certainly deserving.
We feel the windows themselves dramatically change the appearance of our home, and we know will provide us with increased comfort and reduced electric bills for years to come. We are very happy that we went with this company and their quality products.
I wanted to add my review, as I had the complete opposite experience with Thermal King Windows. I am not a person that takes the time to write letters, however, when someone is exceptional, they deserve to be recognized. The installment quality I received was perfect. Charlie and his crew were very personal and professional.
I am so pleased with the windows. I was extremely wary about the different window companies, their quality, cost, double pane versus triple pane and appearance. I had Champion and Rolox out twice, the Thermal King out three times before purchasing. I was showed more ways to test windows, temperatures and quality than colors of M&Ms. The cost of windows was so expensive and Rolox even tried to bait me in with a guarantee to pay back if the windows did not pay for themselves in a few years. After investigating there was no way I could have recovered $20,000 in savings. What they were hoping was that I would get tired of keeping the records required, or move. However, if someone had only a few windows in a smaller house and they were in bad shape, this might work. But it would require lot of record keeping to pay off. My opinion, it was a scam.
The difference between double and triple windows was decided by checking the noise outside, the temp and stronger frame of the window structure. Several companies advised to use the double window that it was plenty. My question was then why do you make triple? My daughter in law replaced her windows from Window World. While we remodeled her residence, I had plenty of time to observe her windows. They were double pane and did a decent job of blocking the heat and cold. However, after comparing them to my Thermal King triple panes, I liked the total heating and cooling effects. The sound of triple pane stops the outside noise greatly and the condensation on my windows on early cool mornings and high dew days this quickly goes away and is a result of the triple pane. The double windows do not do this, showing me just how better the triples really are.
I would also recommend getting the wood grain on the inside to the windows to match the trim in the house. It makes my rooms stand out and be noticed, especially when you use the wood venetian blinds.
In closing, I would say that I am very pleased with the quality of the windows and workmanship. The cost that I incurred was much more than anticipated, but end result was worth it. I have 33 windows to demonstrate. I did a lot of checking on windows and would not mind helping someone make a decision. I can’t imagine spending a lot of money for replacement windows to find that someone settled for less and then had to live with them for a long time.
My husband and I have been so pleased with this company. Their product looks great, and we are delighted with how they improve the appearance of our house. But, even more, we were so happy with the crew who installed our windows. Jason and his team were courteous, professional and did an amazing job. Even when their work was delayed by rainy weather, they made every effort to get the job done as soon as they could. These men are really an asset to their employer.
I recommend Thermal King to all my friends!

I wish I would have read some of these reviews prior to having this company come out. I'm here to tell you that this company does a horrible job of doing business. I don't usually write reviews, but after this company wasted my time (which is money for me), I will never do business with them.
I too had an appointment with them. A rep called the day before to make sure we were still on for the following day. I told him that we would be home, but that my wife may get called into work. He stated that they would be out tomorrow. A different rep showed up the next day; he was also late! He ask me how I was and ask where my wife was. I stated that she got called into work. He stated that he needed to talk to both of us and that he was going to leave. Are you kidding me, I said. He said no, that both us have to be there. I said that was absolutely ridiculous, and he said that we can make another appointment when we would both be at home. I stated that he can either show me now or not worry about it because they were never going to come back. He said that he had to go and that he didn't want to be fired for showing their product to me, so he left.
Yeah folks, we're talking about windows here. Wow, what a great company that would fire someone for showing them their product. With the economy the way it is and this is how they do business. I work a lot and had just gotten off 60hrs straight in 3 days & my wife got called into work her 6th/12hr day. We don't have a lot of free time and it's very precious to us. I called the company to ask for the owner/president. They wouldn't give me a name and finally someone got on and ask if they could help me. I kept asking for a name, but he would not give me one. He wanted my name and when I gave it to him, he stated that he was the one I had talked to the day before to confirm the appointment. I said great, I stated that I had told him yesterday that my wife may get called into work and that he never said that we both had to be there. He gave me some song & dance that he thought he had made it clear. Folks, I'm here to tell you this guy never said one word about both of us having to be at home. I told him that he had wasted my time and that I would never do business with the company. I told him that I would put plywood up for windows before I used this company. I told him that I'm going to spread the word about how this company does business and that people should not use them. I also ask for an owner/presidents name repeatedly & he would never give me a name or number. He kept telling me he didn't know. I find that a little hard to believe. I sure like to know who I'm working for and who's the one running things; how about you?
The other reviews on here about the same type of problem are spot on. I don't know, but my guess would be that they're a very high pressure company and want to try and pressure both people in order to get a sale, or convince one and then gang up to persuade the other person. I can honestly say I don't know because they wouldn't even talk to me. If anyone else has had a bad experience with this company, please take a little time to post it. We don't need to support companies like this. There are too many other companies out there that sell windows. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The rep showed up knowing that I was the only one here. After I introduced myself, I told him that it was my partner that called and made the appointment. He then told me he didn't know who called, he just had our address and time on his list. After 5 minutes of small talk, he finally asked if I was in a position to make a decision on a sale. He could only offer Factory Incentives on the first visit, and if I couldn't make the decision, then perhaps he should come back. It would be best that he speak to both my partner and myself at the same time, he said, that way he could make sure we were both in agreement. I assured him that number one, I was quite capable of making a decision, and number two, it didn't matter, because we were not going to be pressured into a sale that very night. We had companies coming out each evening for the next 5 nights and we were going to listen to all of them, and then make our decision. After again telling me he would rather wait until we were both available, and that he was already booked for the evening and very busy, I finally told him that I would not guarantee that my partner would be here, and if he did not want to talk to me, he could walk out the door right now. And he did. On his way out he stated they would be calling back for a followup appointment - I told him to have a nice day.
The next day they did call - and the same man that initially set up the appointment (different from the actual rep), spoke to my partner again - he indicated the sales rep stated that my partner wasn't here, and asked why. My partner had already told them when they set up the appointment that he would not be here, but that I would and would gather all information to share. The phone rep then said that wasn't what they had set up. Then my partner told him exactly what happened, between myself and the actual representative, and assured the phone rep that he had explained that he would not be available. The phone rep finally admitted that he 'may have mis-understood', and my partner then told him we were not going to waste any more time with their company - the phone rep wished him well and HUNG UP!
For all the window companies there are in the Greater KC Area, I would NOT recommend Thermal King for any type of business at all.
The windows are very good looking, much better than our previous windows and I love the coating that blocks UV rays, but since the price was exceptionally high, I was expecting more. The installation was very average. Communication with the company was worse than average, although they did what they said when prodded, I just felt like I was an irritant instead of a valued customer.
I called Thermal King today wanting to purchase a new patio door. They would only meet with me if my husband was around too! What is this? I am the decision maker in this matter and my husband is too busy to meet with them. If they do not want my business it is their loss. Welcome to the 21st century, where women are allowed to make decisions without the permission of their husband!
