Dental Care

We also carry a variety of home dental care products to keep your pets teeth clean in between dental cleanings. Vaccination
We ask that you arrive 10 minutes early to complete necessary paperwork prior to your appointment. Please bring your pet’s medical history and current vaccine status. Rabies vaccination is required by law and proof of vaccination is required before our staff will handle your pet. If you do not have your pet’s previous medical/vaccine history, we will be glad to contact your previous veterinarian and obtain it for you. If you would prefer, you may fill out our New Client Information form online.
Nutritional Counseling
It increases circulation and brings increased blood supply to the affected areas. This allows for all sorts of healing modulators to be brought to the area being lasered. It enhances the flow of oxygen from the blood into the cells that need it the most. It promotes cellular metabolism. We understand metabolism in the form of weight control, but this is at the cellular level and the cells can produce more energy which allows them to perform lots of great work for healing purposes.
Comprehensive Examination
At Capeside Animal Hospital, we believe in preventative care for your pet. Early detection of health problems can allow for prompt treatment. Your pet should receive a comprehensive physical exam at least once a year and geriatric, or older pets (pets 7 years or older), should have a physical exam twice yearly. Since the average pet's lifespan is significantly shorter than ours, their health can change very quickly within just a few months.

We know boarding can be stressful for our feline friends. This is why at Capeside Animal Hospital, cats are boarded in our feline only Cat Care Center. Each cage comes with a window view, fresh water, and blankets. To board with us, all cats must be current on an exam by a Capeside Veterinarian, FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, as well as an intestinal parasite screening.

Capeside Animal Hospital offers the safest and most effective injectable and inhalant (isoflurane) anesthetics and also pain relief for all surgical procedures. All surgical patients receive a pre-operative sedation (which includes pain medication) to minimize anxiety. We monitor body temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, ECG as well as oxygen and carbon dioxide levels throughout the entire procedure.
Kidney Disease Treatment
Capeside Animal Hospital offers limited boarding to active clients. Due to staff shortages, we are offering limited boarding for cats and limited medical boarding only for dogs. Conditions considered for medical boarding are, but not limited to, diabetes, kidney failure, cancers, surgical recovery, Addison's or Cushing's Disease, geriatric pets on medications, or other chronic conditions. In addition to preventing bad breath and periodontal disease it can also prevent infection from spreading through the blood stream to your pet's liver, kidneys, and heart. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, pain with eating, and drooling.
Cancer Treatment
Chemotherapy refers to drugs that are used to kill cancer cells. These drugs may be given by mouth or by intravenous or intramuscular injection. Because pets are considered part of the family and they are living longer lives, cancer treatment is a rapidly evolving discipline in veterinary medicine.

Laser Surgery
Your pet's health is as important to us as it is to you. Capeside Animal Hospital is pleased to offer laser surgery. In many procedures, the laser can replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery. Please ask if your pet's surgical procedure can be done with laser!
Spaying and Neutering
Pain management is an important part of our pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative anesthetic and medical protocol. Surgical patients, including those undergoing routine procedures such as an ovariohysterectomy (spay) and castration (neuter), receive pain control that includes injectable medications, local anesthetics, cold laser therapy and oral pain medications.

Laboratory Services
Prior to surgery, each patient receives a thorough physical examination to identify any existing medical conditions that might endanger your pet's health. Because not all problems can be detected on examination, pre-anesthetic blood work is strongly recommended (a requirement for pets 5yrs and older). Blood work results provide a more complete picture of your pet's health and allow us to tailor an anesthetic protocol that is specific to your pet. Your pet's vital signs are monitored during anesthesia.

Microchipping is a permanent pet identification.
