I spoke to Dennis at Complete Automotive and explained the issue we were experiencing with the vehicle. Dennis had serviced our vehicle on one previous occasion (repair windshield wiper and oil change). Dennis said he had a good idea of what the problem was and it would be "around $500.00" to fix it and to drop the car off. After a few days, I called Dennis to get an update on the car and Dennis said they still hadn't looked at it. A few hours later, Dennis called back to inform my husband that the car was fixed. He had serviced the transmission (flush) and it was working just fine. It started every time and he was certain all was well. He then proceeded to tell my husband that the repairs were $688.45 (almost 30% higher than quoted) and he did not call to authorize the increase in charges. I have spoken to Dennis multiple times regarding the issue and in fact the last time my husband spoke to him, Dennis claimed that he never said he was going to fix that issue (because he didn't "know" it was a problem) and he went ahead and serviced the transmission because in his opinion it was in "really bad shape." I have no way to verify whether or not this was true and it is simply our word against his. I feel he has taken total advantage of us, charged us more than he quoted, refuses to provide a receipt and we are still dealing with the vehicle not starting intermittently. All of this leads me to wonder if he actually did anything at all to our vehicle? After picking the vehicle up it continued to start and stop intermittently and through some research of our own, I believed that the fob (key) may not be charging and would need to be replaced. During one of the conversations I had with Dennis after the work was completed and I was still having issues, I mentioned that to him. Dennis said to bring the car back and his wife gave us two batteries to put in the key ourselves. The problem with this solution is that they refused to replace the batteries themselves because they didn't want to break the fob. I have since learned that our particular fob doesn't even use the kind of batteries they gave me and in fact, the fob is supposed to recharge on its own when the car is running. The vehicle continued to be unreliable and start intermittently and in fact, stopped running while my daughter was driving it at a 4-way stop. I had to have the vehicle towed to our home because we could not get it to start again. The following day I contacted the BMW dealership in Pleasant Grove and they asked us to have it towed to them and they would look at it. The Service Consultant called later that day and explained that after running the car through their diagnostic machine they recommended replacing the IVM which tied to the engine components and was faulty thus causing the intermittent engine issues we were experiencing. I authorized the repairs and they were completed on 9/29/2017. I had to pay another $382.22 (they waived 1 of the diagnostic charges for $128.00). Since having this repair done by the BMW dealership, the car has NOT experienced the same issue again. My frustration stems from the fact that Dennis NEVER was able to diagnose the problem with the vehicle and yet still charged me almost $700.00 for something that DIDNT need to be done. Complete Automotive refused to provide a receipt for the alleged work he completed and I have never personally signed anything authorizing him to do what he did. Dennis did NOT do a diagnostic test on the vehicle to check for error codes because if he did he would have found the same thing the BMW dealership found and could have fixed the problem in a lot less time and for less money. In addition, after looking through the receipt/paperwork Dennis provided to DFCU regarding this dispute, I noticed that someone at Complete Automotive signed my name on the receipt! I have NEVER been to Complete Automotive and in fact the payment was made with my wife's Visa Debit Card from DFCU. While my wife was in their offic

My daughter took her car in for an oil change. He charge her $95 to remove a stripped oil plug and $47.50 to "unplug" the A/C compressor. When I called to question the charges, he was very defensive, said she approved the charges, and hung up on me. Go somewhere that doesn't take advantage of people that don't know cars.

When I took my car to have the engine light diagnosed, Dennis attached his computer and then we drove it together while he showed me exactly what the computer indicated was going wrong. I needed a new torque converter. He even invited me into the shop to show me a disassembled torque converter and explained why the unit was failing, and what the results of the failure are, describing exactly the symptoms I was experiencing. Then he gave me a quote for the repairs. All of this was part of the free quote he provided me.

I took the quote home and compared with other shops and found that the quote was very competitive with what I would expect to pay elsewhere. I parked the car and decided to wait until after the holidays to fix it, but when my other car died two days before Christmas, I was in a pickle. Dennis got my car in the same day, worked late and got me right back on the road by the next morning! I've never had a better experience with a mechanic.
