Prior to my surgery, my stomach tube was removed and spilled contents onto my pillow case and sheet (bile). The day after my surgery, my father noticed that these linens had not been changed. This happened twice during my stay there. I was never given anything to clean my hands with, even though I was "attached" to the wall and unable to reach the sink. My shower was not cleaned for at least four days, as there was a small piece of paper in the shower floor that didn't move. I developed a serious infection (caused by above unsanitary conditions) and had to have my staples removed, resulting in my dismissal with a four inch and a one inch openings in my stomach, literally open wounds. This infection caused uncontrolled diahrrea and again sanitary procedures were not followed. Once, a personal friend had to clean up the "accident" as the nurse had merely thrown a towel over it, and had not even wiped the toilet. This extended my recovery time, as well as having to deal with having to be "packed" every day. I would not take a stray animal to this place, unless it was to have it put to sleep. I filed a formal complaint with the HCA, and was dismissed the following day, even though I had been told earlier that same day that I would have to stay for at least three more days. I am now having difficulty obtaining my medical records to see what rights that I have, now that a routine surgery has resulting in my living with a horrendous disfiguring scar, due to a hospital induced infection. As they say, "Buyer beware" or "Enter at your own risk".
