I'm very disappointed in our experience with Pruter's Taekwondo. Firstly, the classes were disorganized and my newer student was often sitting out for 10-15 minutes at a time. Classes repeatedly started 5-10 minutes late, communication was poor, and instructors would often be holding personal conversations on the mats during classes. Also, my daughter started taking classes over the summer and is not able to continue since the school year began because of the heavy homework load nightly. I had specifically expressed this concern to Mrs. Pruter when we enrolled because the paperwork said a 60 day notification was required to withdraw. I was told that was a formality to avoid accounting fees when students quit within a week or so of starting, and that a 30 day notice would be sufficient if we needed to take a pause during the school year. We called the other day to withdraw and was told we will still be charged for two months that our daughter will not be able to attend classes. That's $200 wasted! Not only is 60 days excessive, but I expected integrity in keeping their word from our discussion. Finally, after I posted this review on Facebook their original response was defensive, accusatory, and completely opposite of the character they purport to teach and uphold - even making insinuations about our child. They have since changed their reply, but it showed their true colors and attitude. My daughter was hoping to continue learning martial arts in the future. I can assure you that she will not be embarking on that endevour at Pruters.
The best place to learn real self-defense. It has a variety of disciplines in one place that all work together. They let you do a $25 trial and ta…
Our son started Tamashii Black Belt Academy in 2013 and he loves every minute of it. We love that they have a before and after school program and they take him to school and pickup him from school and by the time we get home from work he is done with his Karate and has already completed most of his school work. Did I mention its affordable!
I went here for Muay Thai classes. The instructors are good at the art but these classes are not designed for beginners. They don't spend time to show you technique. I enjoyed the classes and intended to keep going but my work schedule started to conflict with class times. When I tried to call and cancel they told me I would have to pay 6 months before they would let me out of their system. I was told when signing up that it would only be the rest of the month from cancelling time and 1 extra month. when I brought this to his attention he said, "oh well I guess I can go back to my old policy, if you pay me 3 months right now I'll let you out of my system." The BJJ classes looked good and if you are looking for a good MMA gym this is a good place to go but make sure you know exactly what you are getting yourself into before you sign anything. The whole contract is over a iPad so ask to see the fine print (where ever that may be).
My son did TKD here for approximately a year. His behavior became worse and worse every class he attended. They have young teenagers teaching the classes. They push tournaments for the future kids. There are too many kids pet class with to few instructors. They give out belts to anyone that pays the $50 testing fee whether they accomplished the tasks at testing or not. It is very disorganized with a lack of discipline for a martial arts studio. Good luck ever getting to talk to anyone in order to cancel your classes. You're only allowed to talk to the Pruters because they are busy, not in the office, or out of the country. Then you start getting collections notices for missing one payment. I'm sure they're are better, more professional, more disciplined, Tae Kwon Do studios. This just isn't one of them.
My daughter has been doing TKD with the Pruter's since she was six. The Future Kid program is a great way for your child to learn the basics and feel successful. Once they move up to the color belt program the students starts to fine tune the skills needed to be the higher belts. My daughter has gotten her second degree black belt and is the youngest member of the elite traveling sparring team. She has competed in many tournaments and competed in Nationals twice. TKD has built her confidence in herself not only in TKD but also in her school and interactions with adults and peers. She is a mentor in the younger classes and provides a roll model for them. As an adult student I'm impressed with the encouragement and positive feedback they provide. I highly recommend both the Lee's Summit and Blue Springs studio.
My Daughter started taekwondo with Pruter's Tkd in 2004 at 5 years old. She started out as a little girl training twice a week and now is 15 and trains with the Pruter's Elite team 5 days a week. This tkd school and the Pruter family have been a big reason for my daughter's success in school as well as tkd. To any parent looking to start their child in tkd , this school teaches discipline and values that will help your child succeed in life.
This is the best Olympic Taekwondo Program in Kansas City. PST currently has a Collegiate National Team Member, USA-Taekwondo World Cup Team member, and USA-Taekwondo Junior National Team member. The Elite competition team travels all over the USA and the World Competing in WTF Olympic Tournaments. If you just want recreational Taekwondo to learn Self-defense and gain in Confidence their program is the best. The Elite competition brings up the entire program. They have a program for the little children age 4-8 called Future Kids. This class is 30 minutes long two time per week. It is structured with 8 themes that rotate on an 8 week cycle. Balance, Memory, Discipline, Fitness, Coordination, Focus, Teamwork, and Control. The children learn to process think and set and achieve goals. When they graduate from this program they go into the Normal Taekwondo classes where they learn Forms (Patterns) and Sparring. This is patterned like the Future Kids program with formal testing and belt promotions. The Pruter’s and the staff teach with an incredible amount of patience and understanding letting each child or student progress at their own pace. I would strongly recommend this school to anyone looking for a great top notch Taekwondo program.
If you're looking for a good cardio workout, then you should definitely check this place out. The instructors are wonderful, very attentive to new people. There's no feeling of intimidation here, not like the feeling you get when you walk into a gym and try one of their classes where everyone's competing for some reason and girls mugging at what other girls are wearing and what not.Its a great workout, great way to end the day of a long work day.
Best Martial arts School in Lee's Summit, I was glad to learn from professional martial arts teacher. Thanks again...
