Very unprofessional and poor workmanship on their home building. Failure to address problems mentioned 3-4 times prior to closing. Moved in a month ago and still haven't fixed these issues. I would not recommend Sallee Development or Johnnie Adams Homes to those looking for a new home.Issues include: failure to grade backyard for drainage, leaving large (12"-18" dia.) rocks underneath new sod all over yard, trash underneath sod, installing broken wood floor boards in main living area, leaving two sections of yard ungraded and without sod, not watering sod enough prior to closing
We bought with Summit nearly two years ago. Now, we did not build but instead bought a completed home which I think makes a huge difference. However, once we moved in we had a storm that caused some water to flow freely down our basement walls and pool near our front door on the main level and fill window wells in the basement. They told us that the winds at the time were responsible and nothing could be expected to be perfect against that storm. How naive were we to believe them. That was the beginning. Recently we had roof leak and while the roof company did come to fix the issue so it won't happen again, Summit refuses to do anything about the damage. We tried to discuss this at our 1 year but after being inspected were told they could not find the source. I feel like we've communicated clearly and they do not care about the product once they have your money. It's unfortunate since we love the neighborhood and friends we've made. However, we are looking to move from a house we had hoped would be our forever home. If you build with them, be very vigilant about any repairs needed. It could save you immensely down the road and NEVER buy an already built home.
Do not buy a house from them. We've had several issues and none of them have been resolved. When you have water leaking into the house soaking the sheet rock... you have a problem. They have not and will not fix it..
We bought a Sallee Home in April 2015 and have had outdoor water and drainage issues ever since we moved in. They promised to fix it as soon as the weather improved, but now that the one-year warranty is past they said it's our problem, not theirs. And they still haven't come back for the promised 11 month punch list. Worst customer service ever. Buy elsewhere.
When buying a Summit Custom Home you are buying a home that will be nothing but one major issue after another. They will not back up warranty and customer service is poor. Recommend not buying from them unless you want to spend tens of thousands to fix their poor quality.
DO NOT BUILD WITH SUMMIT!!!!!!!!!!CHEAP CHEAP CHEAPThey rush, they are not honest. Any problems you have and we had LOTS and you bring to their attention they ignore you and the warranty department is rude and ignorant. We also had brought lots of things to their attention during the finally walk through and was told they would be addressed and NEVER was and when we brought it up again in the 90 day walk through they pretty much told us to kick rocks and we had signed papers.Summit is about quantity and not qualityWe are very unhappy ready to sell They will rush you, rush everything and take advantage of you, so please beware
Josh what happened ? What did they do?
Be sure to get everything spelled out on any agreements to engage services of Bill Wiley. He may choose to substitute cheaper products than you have been led to expect in building projects. Buyer beware definitely applies here!
I AGREE WITH OTHER POSTER. DO NOT BUILD WITH SUMMIT CUSTOM HOMES (of Kansas City)!!! We were told on 2 different instances that our lot would only cost "X" number of dollars to build on. Then we get the bill for more than 3x what we were "ballpark" quoted. I understand that I didn't get an exact, and I didn't have it in writing, but they pretty much told me to kick rocks. I mentioned saving money for them by my wife and I not having a realtor, and they said that didn't matter, they have to pay commissions to Better Homes and Gardens anyway. So note to self, DON'T BUILD WITH SUMMIT, get everything in writing, and even if you don't need one, get a realtor to represent you when buying. It won't change their stance at all. Their "Homeowner Care Specialist" was worthless as well. I strongly urge everyone against working with this group. Did I mention I was told the cheaper price the day of signing when the question was brought up? ANYTHING FOR A SALE!!!!
I was very impressed with the work ethic and cleanliness of the crew. We will look forward to working with them on future projects also.
