I have had Laclede Mutual Insurance (Hodges Insurance) since May of 2010 (roughly five years). I have attempted to make 3 claims during that time, NONE of which were covered (busted 72 year old clay water line in 2011, floor issues from a plumbing leak in 2014 as well as replacement of a roof that was hail damaged and began leaking onto the ceiling in the kitchen.) Since NONE of these claims were ever covered I ended up spending a little over $10,000 out of my own pocket to fix these problems. This appears to be their "modus operandi":
1.) TERRIBLE customer service!!!
2.) They will raise your deductible without informing you. (I'm not the only person they have done this to.)
3.) They will take payments from you for years but they will never cover ANYTHING... EVER.
4.) Instead of trying to help their customers, they try to find reasons why they CAN'T help you... And if they can't find one they will make one up in the hopes that you won't fight it.
5.) If you try to fight their decision not to cover your claim then they will just drop you and will not cite any policy specific reason for doing so.
I called the insurance agency the insurance agent came out we have mold and water leaks and the agent i just don't know i feel like im getting the run around. Our policy covers all the problems we are having I thought that was what homeowners insurance was suppose to cover damage you pay for in your policy and another thing is im being told i have to pay 2 deductibles.
In the ice storm of 2006 they were horrible. The adjuster was rude and to lazy to even get on the roof to see what time of damage there really was. They wouldn't pay for the replacement of my hot tub to be fixed because they said it was considered a pool...I can't swim in it and do not know of anyone else that can swim in one. The fixed and paid for NOTHING!! What a joke. At the time of my claim was when I found out that I had a 1000.00 deductible which at the time of signing I was told I had a 500.00...screwed again!! NOT a good insurance company!!

I would not recommend this insurance company to anyone. They are not professional at all. We have been doing business with them for two long years. We are in the process of filing our second claim due to the storm. Once again they are trying to screw us over. Apparently all the damage we had to our house because of the ice, was pre-existing. Which is far from the truth. Their excuss was it's just a old house. This was the excuss we got from the March Hail Storm. Really I don't understand it. They are not their for you in this stressful time. I guess I just wanted everyone to be aware of them. If anyone else has had problems with them please contact me. ke482001@yahoo
