I went to Xiphium for a while, and unfortunately am no longer able to patronize the establishment due to economic concerns.
Rachel's haircuts are top-notch, Jaime's facials are very relaxing, and though she does not work there anymore, Carly's manicures were great.
The only criticism is that sometimes the service was a bit inconsistent, but that is a minor issue. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford to go back after I've made my millions.

I do like Christina and the receptionists have always been good but it is expensive and you are way too close to the person next to you getting their hair done. You can hear their conversations and see everyone way too close. If there were dividers between the stylists stations it would be good. I am going to stop going there when I can get a recommendation from someone that I like. For the prices they charge - the lack of privacy and the overall feeling that you are looking at/sitting too close to others is just wrong.

From the minute you enter Xiphium, the salon is unique. The receptionist is friendly, courteous & helpful. I enjoyed the whole experience! Phil was experienced and knew just how to handle a poor previous cut. The scalp massage, shampoo and hand massage were so relaxing.
I'm sorry to see other reviews that were not positive. I plan to return again and again. This is a quality salon with a staff that is highly competent and supportive. I feel the pricing reasonable for the service rendered.

I moved here a little over a year ago and a neighbor recommended Michael for hair coloring. He is fabulous, really knows his stuff and is a very nice guy. I did need to have a consultation first but he fit me in the day I called for this and the cost was very low and applied toward my first hair color - no big deal. I also get my hair cut here, and love it. I have thick course difficult hair. I was so sad to read the negative reviews of Vilma, my experience is that she is a highly trained artist and a very nice person. She not only gives a great cut but I have never had someone take so much time and care to teach me how to style my own hair. As a side note she does a lot for the community ie. a dog wash to help a no kill shelter, discounts on products for bringing in cans for a food drive. I also have had my brows waxed by Jamie several times and highly recommend her. From what I've seen the staff seems to have a very good rapport with each other. If you are comparing prices it should be noted that their is no tipping allowed here. I have been in numerous times and highly recommend Xiphium.

First timers...Process of Making a hair color appointment -
First schedule a Hair Consultation
Then schedule a separate appointment including a 3 week wait until you can actually have anything done.
At least they let you know it before trying to schedule any of the appointments.

Give me a break. When I read this I can tell hautechick is Vilma Subel herself. Vilma - you are not that good honey. We all know making money is more important to you than pleasing your clients or treating people well. This salon is hyped up to be a lot better than it is. The stylists that work for vilma have no talent. Further, the more experienced stylists - such as Helena and others - have all left due to Vilma being such a tyrant. And if you are a customer with a problem or complaint - watch out - Vilma and her minions will get you! Instead of working to satisfy you, they will treat you badly. This place, while ok looking from the outside, is infected by a group of gossipy, low talented people who aren't worth the prices they charge. Go to Westport or Midtown.

I came across this post (below) trashing my favorite salon. There is no way we can be talking about the same salon because Xiphium Salon at Town Center plaza has had the same staff for AGES and they are extremely professional and knowledgeable, in my opinion.
Vilma, the owner, is my personal stylist and she is amazing to me!
This gal knows her stuff. She is patient, attentive and kind and you can tell that the staff loves her too.
Oh, the head massages! What a treat! I've had salons rub my head as they wash it. This is different. Essential oils massaged into your scalp by a Xiphium pro is a few minutes of heaven!
I had my unruly hair cut and styled by Vilma and now get constant compliments about how beautiful and flowing it is. Finally, a cut that fits my face shape and my personality
Christina gave me amazing highlights, further accenting the fabulous hair cut. I've never been so happy about my hair EVER!
Then to finish up the experience you get a little make up touch up so that you're fresh and ready to present your new look to the world.
I highly recommend Xiphium if you want fabulous service and a fantastic ""do""!

Xiphium salon is a place to STAY AWAY from. You do not want to go here. This is not a place of professional people. The stylists are all new, as the experienced ones have left due to management's terrible compensation packages. They have drummed the good stylists out. The owner is the only one with experience, but unless you want to pay a NY price and get a bleached blonde bee hive, I would stay away from there too. Most of the staff are rude, and you will find discourteous and incompetent stlists and receptionists. The satisfaction and treatment of customers ranks at the bottom of this salon's concerns. It is evident from the top level down. The turnover there is indicative of the kinds of internal problems that go on. If you want a good professional cut, from experienced people who will give an edgy, but natural look, as well as respective and affordable price, there are several other salons in the area. This is not the one to go to.

I've tried a whole slate of stylists at this Aveda concept salon. Most were ok (my husband had more luck) but Vilma is definitely a cut above the rest. Frankly, finding a good cut in KC is a hard thing to do - I've taken to flying to NYC when I can't stand it anymore. KC cutters are just not used to doing chic, edgy things - it is KC after all. Vilma did a good job in that the cut looked fine days after I left the salon. It's an effort to get an appointment with her, and she's so dang slow (90 minute for a short cut) but the only one in KC I'd make an effort to see again.
