Dr Maturo grew up in Kansas City, KS and went to Bishop Ward High School. She moved to Lawrence for her undergraduate degree at The University of Kansas. She provides a full array of Obstetrical and Gynecologic services including Gynecologic Surgery. Her surgical expertise lies in specialized treatment of heavy periods and pelvic pain, minimally invasive hysterectomy, uterine endometrial ablation, pelvic floor reconstructive surgery for pelvic organ prolapse (including urinary incontinence procedures), treatment of uterine fibroids, laparoscopy, and hysteroscopy. Her office interests include well woman services, management of abnormal pap smears, treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception and family planning, conservative treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence, and identification and treatment of reasons for chronic pelvic pain, painful intercourse and pelvic floor disorders. Dr Maturo has a background in basic science and participated in basic science research throughout the duration of her undergraduate and medical school education. Her special interests include pelvic floor disorders including pelvic prolapse and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. She has specialized training in this area.
