I've lived in Leavenworth for 10 years and have had so many different carriers I've lost count, and I've had constant problems with my mail service. First, there was the carrier that never delivered our mail if it was raining. Then there was the carrier that kept delivering mail to the wrong houses. My neighbors and I would regularly take mail to each other that had been delivered to the wrong box. At one point, my address was marked as vacant by the post office, and I have no idea why. I called the post office multiple times to report that I wasn't receiving mail, and it took a few phone calls before anybody bothered to check and see that my address was incorrectly marked as vacant. Then I tried to temporarily have my mail forwarded when I was working out of town for two months. Only about half the mail that should have been forwarded actually was, the rest was still being delivered to my regular address. And then when the temporary forward should have stopped, some of my mail continued being forwarded to my temporary address for a few more weeks. For a while, I had problems getting mail picked up. I would leave things in my mailbox with the flag up, and they would remain there, with the flag still up, for days. I tried scheduling package and mail pickups online, and I would receive email confirmations that my pickups were successfully completed when the packages were still sitting on my porch or mail was still in my box. It's been one problem after another, and I tried calling or going into the post office to report all these issues, but the workers in the post office are unhelpful and rude. They refuse to acknowledge the carriers' mistakes and just give me excuses. I actually switched all of my bills that I could from postal delivery to email and pay my bills online because I still never know whether or not I will receive my mail or whether the mail I send will actually get delivered. This post office is the worst and I wish there was some kind of alternative.
Several months ago my husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and the only thing to do, was to bring him home.Although we live in a subdivision of houses, our mailboxes are at the top of our street. I have lived in this home since August 1st, 1992, so I thought that the postal carrier was familiar with my name.My husband could not be left alone at any time. Since it was just the two of us, the mailbox would get so full at times that the carrier would take all of it back to the post office. He ALWAYS left a notice stating what happened and when I could get the mail from the post office. After several of these occurrences, my husband's Physician filled out a formal request form (provided by the post office) explaining why the mail needed to be delivered to our home. All we asked, was to please bring the mail to our house if the mailbox was getting full, so the carrier wouldn't take it back.We live 5 houses away and since the mail carrier has to drive over to the next street, he could've easily stopped by on his way over there. My husband passed away and since then, I've been a wreck and become a recluse. Went to check my mailbox last week, found it empty, no note from the carrier.Went to the post office. Was told none of my mail was there; that I needed to speak to my "carrier," but he wasn't in. Was informed that all my mail was probably sent back!! I was shocked!!!I am not a young person. I live in my home alone and my neighbors are used to not seeing me for weeks, especially in the winter time.I cannot believe that the carrier didn't stop by the house to check if everything was ok. Ring the doorbell, or at least stick a note on my door. Or, call police to stop by for a wellcheck. I know times have changed, but this is frightening! I could've been injured or dead and nobody would've noticed for weeks! In this ever faster moving world, nobody has time to care!!!I still don't know where my mail is!Happy Holidays
When my husband and I went to go pick up our package the other day the customer service we received was friendly and polite. However upon returning home and opening our package we noticed that our package was damaged and pieces where all over in the box. When contacting the post office they said we could not make a claim and have anything done about it due to they could NOT do anything about it. Would not recommend this office to anyone for delivery packages. Thus is the reason why I rated them a one star and believe that there motto must be as long as the packages don't have insurance on them handle them how ever you seem fit it does not matter how the customer feels.when they receive their packages. Totally upset that I am unable to enjoy my item that was shipped and will have to ship it to get repaired.
