My Physician for my colonoscopy was Dr. Kulkarni. He and ALL of the staff, including the receptionists, ALL of the nurses, the Anesthesiologist Physician Assistant, the Anesthesiologist, were excellent. Dr. Kulkarni listened intently in my pre-surgery consult. He then explained the procedure excellently. He had obviously read my medical history prior to this pre-surgery consult; which had to be one more headache for him as I have history of cancer before I was 30 yrs old. Dr. Kulkarni was thorough in his questioning and explanation of the process, dangers, preparations, and post surgery procedures. The day of the surgery was very efficient and caring. Each nurse asked if I was warm enough, was I comfortable, and was genuinely concerned about my well being throughout the procedure. The procedure went exactly as Dr. Kulkarni said. Everyone, including the Billing Manager, was caring, understanding, compassionate, and valuing to me. I am sorry that some may have experienced something less than what I did. However, they must have listened or seen some of the words from others. I am thankful that I chose Dr. Kulkarni and Southern Gastroenterology Associates. These are teams of professionals with families too and all of the employees understand that they are serving people who need the utmost of encouragement during a delicate time. I had a great day on July 11, 2017!. I had my colonoscopy done by Dr. Kulkarni & team.
They have a terrible billing process with doctor office. When I did surgeon at Gwinnett Digestive Clinic on April 2016, I paid $200 copay for surgical procedure. In later, I still received the medical payment for the $200 copay. I contacted the billing office and they told me that I did not pay $200 copay because the doctor clinic office did not transfer my $200 copay to their billing office. Therfore, that is my responsibility to pay them $200 copay. Even though the doctor clinic office did not transfer the copay to them, they do not collect payment from doctor clinic and only collect the payment from patients. I told them that is your billing process issue between you and doctor clinic office and why patients should be involved. They insisted that is patients responsibility for the $200 copay because they didn't received. You should avoid medical services from both companies (North Georgia Digestive Disease Consultants and Gwinnett Digestive Clinic )!
Excellent Dr. and Staff. They make you feel like family. I would highly recommend to everyone. All of the regular's, Joe, Kathy, Stephanie, Jennifer are amazing as Dr. Krishnan.
I was referred to southern gastroenterology by my primary care physician because I constantly vomit and have diarrhea, which is no fun! My doctor was Dr. Kulkarni. My initial visit, I spent most of my time waiting in the room, which is fine if the doctor is good, but he was very cold when he finally arrived. I immediately felt like I was inconveniencing his day. I gave him my previous records from my old gastro doctor, and tried to explain my issues, only to be constantly interrupted; being told "ok, ok" as if to rush me. He ordered me an upper endoscopy. Immediately following the procedure, he stated that I had gastroporesis, and a hiatal hernia. He ordered 2 more procedures which included a gastric emptying study at the local hospital. As far as results go, I was always told "no news is good news." I was never followed up with. I called twice to schedule a follow-up, but only received a call back when I told my PCP that I never was followed up on. By the time my appointment rolls around, it has been 3 agonizing months. I waited in the office for an hour and a half, then called back to a room, only to wait another 35 minutes. When Dr. Kulkarni comes in, he is flustered and rushed. He only had notes from our first visit, which did not include the 3 procedures performed. He stated, "looks like everything is normal." What? I had to tell him that he diagnosed me with gastroporesis and a hiatal hernia. Then he asked what medication he had prescribed to me? I told him that I was never prescribed anything. Then he looked perplexed. I asked him why he never followed up with me, he stated "that's not my job, you're not my only patient." I told him that wasn't my problem that he is overbooked, and he should take it up with his scheduler. I have never felt so mistreated by a supposed professional. I told him I wanted my records so I could go somewhere else. He refused to give me my records, and I also had to pay for a service that was never given. Dr. Kulkarni said "We're done here," and pointed to the door. I kept demanding my records, which were in his hand, but he childishly refused. I declared how wrong it is to withhold someone's records, knowing that I have something wrong with me. I traveled over an hour, and waited for 2 only to be treated like absolute dirt. This guy should not be in practice.
All the nurses and the doctor were very helpful. I will recommend anyone to go to GDC endoscopy center. I love all the staff who took care of me. Marilyn K . Levy
