After creating my custom menu, printing it, and my girlfriend and I deciding to visit for weekend dinner, I drove over to the new Lawrence HuHot to check it out. I took a look at the available items and disappointedly found at least half of what I wanted, and chose from the create your own, was not there. I asked the hostesses, and a manager told me the location was a franchise and they only offered certain items on certain days. No swordfish, no mahi mahi, no scallops, no seafood medley, no pork. To say the least, I'm very disappointed. They need to take the create your own off of the website, as it is deceptive. I'm almost embarrassed to take my friends there because I've already told them all of the great stuff you can eat. What a shame. For just opening, it deflates the excitement. I've also noticed that soup or salad is supposed to be included with dinner. I didn't see it on the item bar or anywhere in the restaurant. We'll see tonight if the server offers it. My girlfriend asked me if I decided not to go. I reluctantly said I would try it. My first impression was that it was not much if (any) better than the Mongolian BBQ in Overland Park, KS. I realize this is a new location, though HuHot in Lawrence needs to meet the expectations as presented by the website. Why should I go eat somewhere when I can't get what I want and what is advertised? Please persuade me otherwise.
