Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad offers a range of fire protection, suppression and rescue and medical emergency services. It maintains a fleet of several apparatus, such as engines, boats, sport utility vehicles, ambulances and dive units. Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad also conducts training sessions on several rescue-related topics. It has a work force of more than 10 employees, including captains, lieutenants, sergeants and chiefs. Established in 1952, Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad organizes several fundraising activities. It is a private, nonprofit corporation that responds to over 7,000 emergency and nonemergency calls annually.
