Unacceptable, outrageous service!I don’t know how this facility is still in business! How they manage to pretend that they care about the people? My son was admitted with severe muscle pain and they left him for more than a week without any treatment. There was no physician for 5-6 days, no one cares. This is a rehab facility but the therapists don’t do absolutely nothing. The personnel are cruel, heartless and left my son without any medications and treatment in pain. They used the money from the insurance and one day somebody decided to discharge him without asking him how he feels. They discharged him with the same pain as he was admitted and just used him to take the money from the insurance. My son has been with MS for 18 years but all the personnel remained heartless seeing his suffering. The manager in charge is Anna Lynn – rude, unprofessional, cruel person without heart, made of stone. Everyone better stay at home than coming to this facility. Shame on all people who take salaries to help the others but don’t do anything and are so cruel to watch suffering people without making minimal efforts to help.
In November of 2004, I moved my parents into El Jen and I have experienced nothing but the best of care and love for them. When my father was dying …

My sister was admitted to this facility after going through brain surgery. We provided a copy of medical power of attorney and her living will with DNR upon arrival. There were some very good people working here but most are not qualified healthcare workers. One Sunday morning my sister called frantic that no one would come to help her, no breakfast was brought and no one answering her calls for help. We immediately went to the facility and found in the section where my sister was located there was no staff to be found. People were laying in filth and no one had been given breakfast. Were they given their medications. We do not know. Constant frustration at lack of communication between the staff members regarding the people they were there to care for. Some time later Miriam was rushed to the hospital as she stopped breathing. Silver Hills neglected to send the DNR with Miriam and the result meant that hospital intubated her. Because of the incompetence of Silver Hills my sister suffered for many days. Luckily we were able to have her admitted to Nathan Adleson Hospice. Best care from everyone there. Thanks to them Miriam's final days were spent in a clean environment with loving and caring people.
I don't know what these other 2 are complaining about. I've had my sister at the heights several timed and always found the staff to be courteous, competent, and friendly. Of course, they're understaffed and stretched thin at times, but they more than compensate for the complaints with complements.
The school is great! Lots of hard and challenging work to help to be successful in your future career as a nurse. The professors there are really helpful and want to see you succeed. This school may be costly but education is and should be your greatest investment and a rewarding career such as nursing is well worth it.
Arizona College of Allied Health - Las Vegas is one of the most expensive private nursing schools in Nevada. It would cost a student about $700 per unit or about $84 K for the nursing program. However, it appears that the school would pick any nursing professor who's willing to accept the pay of the job regardless of experiences. Since the professors might have been randomly selected, they would not care about how the student’s success in the program. They might be busy with other job that they probably were working on at the same time. Some of the nursing professors do not give out hand-outs; others give out just one or two days before the exam. And the results: Not many made it. Because some of the materials from the exam had never been discussed, not even from the book nor the hand-outs and even worse, the exam questions were so confusing. Consequently, the students were the victims. Most students in this nursing program are not newly high school grads. They are working people and they work hard to earn their money to pay for their tuition, and many had to borrow loans, private or public, in addition. They chose this college because they trust that the school would help them to success in their study regardless of the high tuition. Facing with the uncertainties of the school professor's policies, many students began to wonder themselves whether they had financially invested their future in a wrong hand? The consequences were not affecting just the students themselves, but in many cases to their love ones as well. Moreover, students in this program whether with lower or higher IQ’s, they all had passed the HESI test. They paid to be able to study, not being paid to be studied. So, please understand the stresses in their studying while gambling with their exams and help them to study successfully.Hope that the Dean of N.S. will reconsider the way the professors are handling their teaching techniques as well as their dedications to the students’ goal.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MY HUSBAND WAS ON A VENTILATOR WHEN HE ARRIVED TO ST JOSEPH'S AND HAD BEEN ABLE TO USE A BED PAN. THEY DO NOT USE BED PANS BUT THEY PUT ON DIAPERS, SEVERAL TIMES MY HUSBAND WOULD BE LYING IN HIS WASTE FOR HOURS HE HAD NO CALL BUTTON NEAR HIM MOST OF THE TIME, THE NURSES THERE SEEM TO BE ONLY ONE FOR THE HOLE WARD. THEY HAD A MALE NURSE THAT SEEM TO BE AT THE DESK MORE THAN HELPING PATIENTS. I HAD TO CALL FOR HIM SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO CHANGE HIS DIAPER. THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT MY HUSBAND TRYING TO GET OUT OF BED BUT IT WAS BECAUSE HE BE LYING IN HIS WASTE AWHILE. THEY PUT HIM IN A CHAIR WHEN HE 1ST GOT THERE BUT HE TRIED TO STAND SO THE NURSE TOLD ME NO MORE SITTING UP. THEY DID NOT TRY AGAIN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, MY HUSBAND WAS UNABLE TO TALK TO THEM THEY ALSO STOP ALOT OF HIS MEDICATION HE USUALLY TAKES BUT WERE DOPING HIM ON MENTAL MEDICATIONS. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND HIS ROOMMATE WOULD BE IN THE BED ON THE VENTILATOR AND NO OTHER MOVEMENT. THEY ALSO WOULD COME AND DO THINGS TO MY HUSBAND WHILE HE WAS ASLEEP AND NOT TELL HIM WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WHICH SCARED HIM AT TIMES. ST JOSEPH BAND HIM FOR GETTING UPSET IT WAS BECAUSE OF THEM NOT WARNING HIM. HE WAS MOVED TO VALLEY HOSPITAL. THEY DID WONDERS FOR HIM. THEY GOT HIM OFF VENTILATOR AND PUT A VOICE PIECE IN HIS TRACH, HE ABLE TO USE BED PAN 1ST DAY, 2ND DAY HE GOT SPEECH THERAPY WERE HE ABLE TO START TO LEARN TO EAT AGAIN, HE WAS ALSO ABLE TO TAKE STEPS ON WALKING, I FEEL THAT IF HE HAD STAYED LONGER AT ST JOSEPH HE WOULD NOT RECOVER, SEEM LIKE THEY HOLD BACK HELPING PATIENTS TO GET BETTER SO THEY CAN COLLECT MORE MONEY. THE ONLY GOOD TEAM THE DID HAVE WAS RESPIRATORY TEAM WAS MORE AVAILABLE.
My husband was there and we were given a letter stating the date the insurance would stop paying for his care. I arranged for a room for him at Pacifica but kept getting the run around from nursing. Then they said the doctor hadn't filled out his paperwork yet; so I tracked down the doctor and begged her to get his papers done so he could be transferred. She sat down and wrote stuff and got up and left. When I told the staff it was done they said she hadn't signed it. They screwed around long enough that I was told they couldn't transfer him that day. My husband had been sitting in the hall all day waiting to be moved and complaining but no one paid any attention to him. He said he was their hostage. I feel they keep you there because private parties have to pay them more than insurance does. I've talked to his insurance and numerous places who said they were absolutely wrong. Then I got a bill from them for $343.00. Just greed, incompetence, lack of caring or communication. Don't go there for any reason. They gave him so many pills at a time that he was vomiting. Avoid this place.
This was the only site that I investigated when a friend was being transferred, and I thought to myself. :Holy Crap" can it be this bad?? Well first of all all these reviews are outdated. From what I witnessed and from those that I spoke with .. they are trying hard and doing their best to provide good care. Of course their are bad apples in every bunch. And it only takes one to ruin it. I would like to add that if you have any valuables make sure you take inventory and get them locked up or they could disappear. You get what you pay for and yes they may be a little under staffed. They could use some volunteers like they have in the hospitals since they are under staffed. It is a difficult job just like teaching..workers probably are under paid..
My mother was admitted for rehabilitation. Her stay was beyond rehabilitating. She Is a diabetic and continued daily to receive pure sugar instead of sugar supplement. The food was always cold and tasteless. There was no meeting with a dietitian and everyone ate the same. Baths are weekly, beds do not get changed frequent, and no one comes and clean the rooms and definitely not the bathrooms. The staff was not only unfriendly to the patients but to me as well. I advise family members to be active in your love one lives because i have never seen such uncaring professionals in a position to be caring and accommodating. The staff even looks miserable. I'm so glad my mother is out of there, God bless those left behind. Silver Hills, clean up your act and get a clue, you are the contact that some only have, show some compassion and treat them like they are your love ones.
The staff was very nice, but understaffed. The care was not that great due to everyone running around. The facility had taken two different pain medication out of my dad's bag. When we checked out they only have him one prescription back and No one seemed to know where the other one was. No one had any answered to where the 48 count of extremely strong pain medication went, nor did anyone want to take the time to look for a answer.
