Provided by CitysearchBesides being a school it's also a great place to get a cheap cut. They've been around forever and students go on to cut from Supercuts to the best salons in the valley. They primarily teach hair styling, but they also give instruction on massage.

Provided by CitysearchThis school is the best! I had a fabulous experience, learned a ton, and now earning my own living. I would definitely recommend this school to prospective students. Thank you for everything AHD!
If you are on a limited income as I once was. You would be hard press to find a better place to get your hair done. These students are very good for the experance that they have to work with. The teachers work well with them. I went 8 times, only one bad experance. Although my life has change and I have moved on,I tell people about Academy of Hair Design all the time. Good Job
I went to this school, they are really nice when they want to get you to sign up for their program. But once in then the fun starts. There are to many wardens in the prison, rules change everyday. some of the teachers need to retire, they are stuck in the old age of teaching. there are some good teachers too, they try to keep up with new things, like the fashion shows are awesome!!! Not enough guest speakers for the hair people or nails. Skin was really great,if you were lucky enough to get the right teacher in there. I got to see brazilian waxing, lash extensions, makeup, diamond tip microdermabrasions. Because of that class I specialize in skin care, more than hair. There is never anybody in the offices that will help you. Mr. John is useless there, he is just a pervert, calling himself your daddy, GROSS!!! Ms. S all she wants to do is sit around and do hair checks from her chair or take one of her 10 breaks a day. Ms. D. all she wants to do is sit outside in her car and smoke all day, she smells like an ash tray. Mr. D he is a good teacher, but come on, pick up the pace, you take to long to do hair checks, and Ms. J. she is so sweet I loved her. They should put teachers where they are strong at and what they like to do. I learned some cool things from Ms. A. she taught me some cools things in nails, and Ms. D. she showed me how to do extensions and she had some cool guest speakers when I was in skin. This school needs to get rid of the old and bring in some new blood, and not just take us for a ride and take our money :(

Provided by CitysearchI really enjoyed going to school there. The instructors were really great. Also, at the academy you're getting alot more hands on experience than you do at Majestany and that helps out alot with being confident in your work. My sister in law went to Majestany and she said sometimes her instructor could be a bit harsh. I also had a cousin who went there and she didn't mind the school....so no matter where you go you're going to hear good and bad. If I had to choose again I would definitely choose the academy.

Provided by CitysearchMy experience with it is that the instructors are great! The classroom setting is alot of fun and they go over the material alot so that you're well-prepared for the exams. You get alot of hands on training as you start cutting hair 5 weeks into the program. You have to do a minimum of 250 haircuts/styles and at the end, you have to do three job placements in three weeks so that you have a feel for the culture at any workplaces. When I was researching Majestany and the Academy of Hair Design, I also saw that the tuition was cheaper which you should also take into consideration :)

Provided by CitysearchThe instructors at AHD are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I learned a lot from each and every one being that they all have the specialties in the cosmetology field. AHD's instructors have helped me to be confident in passing the State Board Testing due to their passion and drive. This has been a life changing experience for me!

Provided by CitysearchThe Academy of Hair Design honestly changed my life for the better. As a teenager, I never knew what I wanted to do with my life after high school. I decided I wanted to go to beauty school and pursue a career. Not only the teachers but the management staff were beyond supportive and helpful. As a student, you must put forth the effort to be successful. Some people think beauty school is the easy way out.. WRONG. If you work hard and show respect, the teachers and staff will treat you with upmost respect themselves. The Academy of Hair Design is extremely professional and very up-to-date. The staff is always working hard to make school fun and enjoyable. This school is not about laziness and disrespectful people. They encourage their students to work hard and in any situation with a difficult client, they will always have your back. I not only learned hair, skin, and nails but I also learned life lessons and people skills. This school is the best!

Provided by CitysearchThe Academy is a very busy place. You'll be struck immediately at all the students chopping away. Besides being a school it's also a great place to get a cheap cut. They've been around forever and students go on to cut from Supercuts to the best salons in the valley. They primarily teach hair styling, but they also give instruction on massage. The staff is friendly and professional and they are very busy. Success with this school and landing a job is part skill and very much your confidence level. They give you the tools the rest is up to you.

Provided by CitysearchI've never been a student there, but I have had my hair cut, my nails done and my lip waxed by scores of the students there off and on for almost 20 years. I ask every one of them how they like it and they all say ""I LOVE it."" When I first started going there for services, it was hard to find an instructor to just come over and check finished work. Now they are everywhere and available to the students at any time during the process. Some instructors are more personable than others and probably some are more competent than others but I've never met one that I would describe as ""mean"". The woman at the front desk is as friendly and professional as at any high end salon. Maybe more so. And one more thing before I go. Seniors are entitled to discounts on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. You should see how patient and cheerful the students are with some of their elderly clients who can barely walk from the waiting area to the chair. It gives me hope for the new generation.
