I rented a car from Payless in Las Vegas for six days this past September. The company's agent refused to complete a condition report at the outset-- so I took my own photos instead. Then the agent implied that the vehicle was fine when I returned it on September 13. Forty-six days later Payless wrote a letter addressed to me which contained an accusation that I had caused damage to one of the vehicle's tail lamps during the rental period. Payless then charged my Visa credit card $437.38 USD without my permission. As a result of a local postal strike I did not receive Payless' letter until November 8, which is the same day Payless received a heated reaction from me. Following the conversation a member of their staff created an online service ticket designed to handle the dispute; then from November 9 to November 28 I spent precious life-hours going back and forth with The Payless Customer Service Lead (The Lead). The Lead's first message to me stated: "...it has been determined that this incident was the driver’s responsibility..." and "...Because this is a renter responsibility situation, the charges have been deemed to be valid and a refund is not warranted..." It was DETERMINED? HOW?! When pressed to reveal the proof that I had inflicted the damage, The Lead dodged the demand and asked me to defend myself by submitting the non-existent condition report. When pressed again she stated that "We have forwarded your information to the location for further review." When given a deadline and threatened with negative reviews she continued to offer no proof but did offer to refund 50% of my $437.38 USD. Finally, when given a deadline and threatened with possible legal action she finally conceded that there is "no documentation on their side." Payless promptly refunded my money and stated: "We apologize for any difficulties you may have experienced during your rental. We hope you continue to choose Payless Car Rental as your rental car company of choice."

Be careful: this location charges a cleaning fee if you don't return the car in brand new condition. I've been renting cars for 20+ years, never was i charged a cleaning fee for normal "wear & tear" of a car! Stay away from this location.
This location made renting a truck for moving simple and easy. Great customer service made moving less stressful.
Completely ripped off. Avoid the company. Unprofessional rude and just creeps. .................
They sell cars with no title! Will tell you it's going to come in the mail, It will never come ! It's been more than 2 month!! Plus the car they sold us is in non working condition . Started to have issues on the same week ! We have already submitted complain to DMV, next is to take them to court!!! Do not waste your money! I just hope they will get what they deserve!
Very unethical practice. Front desk guy first tried to sell us additional insurance and we said NO. He then lied by saying the insurance of the state where we are from does not cover rental cars". The coverage of an insurance has nothing to do with the state of residence. Anyway, we CLEARLY DECLINED ANY additional insurance. Then the guy proceeded with the paper work and asked us for a credit card. We asked if there would be any charge on the card, he said no and this is only for the purpose of deposit. He handed the paper work without reviewing the contents. At the exit, we finger-signed in an ipad without reading the specific items (who would when you are sitting at the car at the exit and have no idea that someone had sneaked an insurance charge in the contract?). Returned in about a week without any issue but found found a charge of $26.88 per day for insurance. Called their CS immediately. Lady in billing department refused to refund because we signed the contract. I argued that we declined the insurance and that the front desk guy had told us there would be no additional charge and, therefore, we were only deceived to sign, but no success. To sum up, this company's business practice is very unethical. First, the guy at the front desk lied and tried to cheat us by saying "Arkansas insurance does not cover rental car". Secondly, he lied to us that there would be no charge and the credit card is only for purpose of deposit. He also did not explain the contents of the paper work and did not confirm with us for an acknowledgement of a charge he sneaked in the paper work in spite of our declination of such a charge. Therefore, we believe we were ripped off by this company. They sneaked a charge we clearly declined and insisted on a signature we were deceived to sign. I googled and found numerous number of victims like us. We think their unethical practice of business should be stopped!!
