My mom, Mary Jane, who passed away on November 20 at the age of 93, was a resident at El Jen since 2015. I want to thank Carol Toomey and her dedicated staff, including Scott, Margaret, Terri, Mark, Sheri, and to all the other wonderful people who cared for my mom every day for their loving and professional care, their thoughtfulness and their many kindnesses. My mom was very happy there. Thank you. Kristy

In 2008 I was just released from Spring Valley hospital and recovering from a brain stem stroke when I needed a place to stay and recover. The social worker at Spring Valley hospital recommend HOFAH and I was brought there by Ever Menacho. Little did I know that for $1,400 a month I had to share a bedroom with another gentlemen and that there was no one living there that had any type of skilled nursing degree and also the one woman who was supposed to be the caretaker for us (four adult men) was an illegal woman from Mexico who was in hiding from her estranged father of her children. She also had no training or experience in assisted living whatsoever. I was completely shocked at the level of incompetence and bizarre rules such as a five minute limit on receiving phone calls. So i quickly arranged to move out. This is a cautionary tale about trusting someone's advice and not knowing all the facts before moving into what I needed at the time, and not a private home with no around the clock qualified staff disguised as an assisted living facility, so please if you need a place to recover from an illness or injury do yourself a favor and do your homework, and don't make the same mistake I did.
I Highly recommend Devoted Care! The staff is amazing, very polite and took stellar care of my 97yr old grandmother. Devoted Care is of the highest quality in Elderly living, Stellar in performance(i.e. nutrition, 24hr visitation, beautiful tranquil garden, pool, A1 staff, and Ms. Diane Coiley is the best! Her family and daughter really cared for my Grandmother and i give this Nursing facility STELLAR performance. This is truly a home with Family structure and Care! 10 stars!! I wouldn't not have picked a better place for my Grandmother. Everyday she had fresh flowers, so much Gratitude to Diane Coiley and her family. 10 stars!
There has consistently been a warm family feel and gracious welcome when I have come to visit at Devoted Care. They take on many of the attributes of the Eden Alternative Program focusing on quality life for seniors that seems to emphasize the elimination of loneliness, relational interactions, and even have house pets. The two houses adjacent to each other are maintained well and very clean. Diane's daughter lives and works at Devoted Care as an entry level assistant. Being family helps to enhance that overall comfortable family feel for the residents and their visiting family members. Diane, who is a nurse by training and certification ensures that her independent living program meets the needs of independent living. However, I do wish Diane would wear shoes even if she needs to walk out around the pool area. The other staff I have encountered have also been helpful and I have observed that they interact well but not intrusively with the residents. Should you need a residence that provides a higher level of individualized nursing care this would not be the place for you. But if you want a family oriented, person centered atmosphere that reflects well-being then Devoted Care is the place for you.
Do not bring your loved ones here! This place is completely unsanitary and dirty. There is animal fur and feces on the furniture. I worked here for a month and the houses were ALWAYS filthy. The owner, Diane, does not know how to run a business. She is very dishonest and manipulative woman. She will say anything to bring more clients into her houses including sharing a room with them because she is going bankrupt and does not even have enough money to pay her employees. This was my very first nursing job since I got out of serving active duty in the military, she completely took advantage of me and my situation. As an honest nurse I can tell you to NEVER consider leaving your loved ones here as an option.
In November of 2004, I moved my parents into El Jen and I have experienced nothing but the best of care and love for them. When my father was dying and in a rehab hospital their CNA offered to take care of him before and after her shift. That is the dedication of the El Jen staff. I visit my mom everyday and I see firsthand how the staff works. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the staff. Elmo Vose
They lied to me about things that they where doing with a friend and is now back in the hospital, with really bad bedsores and infections. I would not want any one to go through what my friend has gone through.
My Father spent his last year of his life in the care of the caregivers of the Palms Care Home. I would recommend this facility to you if you need a safe, clean, and caring environment for your loved one. I would drop in on them anytime I needed and the caregivers were always polite, the house smelled of cooking food, and my dad was available for me to visit with. Towards the end of his stay, Hospice visited regularly and the caregivers kept my dad from pain as best they could. Compassion is what these folks have plenty of.
Worst assisted living in town. After this community was recommended by my neighbor who's mother was there years ago(2012). He told me about community and I moved my mother in early this year(2015) building wasn't the best assisted living in town, it was NOT fancy but it felt like home. At the time my mother moved in things were not perfect but ok staff was friendly some of management were friendly actually the few that they had. But about 3 months ago or even less things are out of control. I moved my mother out because I over heard precious ED RaNae Cemesnsky that she was gonna make sure all medicaid residents where out of the building... Who is she to say and why this decision is being made. N also med tens DORIS, MYRNA and CHRIATJNA are very rude. They never had time to go over my moms medications. We had several problems regarding meds because they were always misplace(STOLEN) by one med tech or another one but always the medication missing was narcotic. There's no supervision the place is terrible
You guys did good work. I will continue to get the in home care assistance. Thanks again.
