Village Green of Lansing

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment complex. We were unable to see our apartment until the day we moved in. We asked several times and where told that someone still lived in it and it wasn't ready. Then we were told that they don't usually show the apartment until the day the lease is signed. Well, here is the reason they don't show the apartment in advance: The bathroom floors were so water damaged that the flooring was peeling up and exposing the wood underneath. The wood was rotten and the mold growth was out of control. It took 3 weeks of complaining before I could even get someone to come look at it. There are no locks on any of the windows. Our stove works when it wants to and the porch light does not work after it has been "fixed" twice. The carpet is destroyed. They claimed to have cleaned it prior to us moving in, however, I own my own carpet cleaner and I had to clean the carpet four times to get the water to change from black to brown. The outlets are all very old and loose and two of them spark when used. When I asked the maintanance man, Randy, to fix them, he told me that he would only fix 3 of them and to take my pick. This was after I offered to tape off the bad ones so they wouldn't have to check them all and the office personnel told me not to worry and that they would check all of the outlets and fix all that needed to be fixed.

It took three weeks to receive a mail box key. I had to watch for the mail man and show ID at my own home in order to receive my mail. Then to top it all off, The maintanence man, Randy, also had the nerve to tell me that I am nothing but a crabby pregnant woman. ... Yes, I am a very crabby pregnant woman because I was decieved into moving into a place that I was told was huge and very nice. This place is a huge dump!! My son's bedroom door frame is broken and the door will not stay closed. My daughter's bedroom window had a screen that was torn so bad that she could have put her 9 y/o body through it. The countertops are stained and scratched. All of the cupboards have been painted on the inside and the paint comes off on your dishes, the cupboard and drawers are mis-aligned and do not stay closed. The bathroom mirrors/medicine cabinets are broken, one of the doors fell off completely because is was broken and rigged to look good. But, once opened if fell off. The hallways and laundry rooms are filthy and stink. I also have teenagers hiding out in bushes ourside of my apartment doing drugs because I have no porch light and the security light on the building doesn't work. I was told two weeks ago that the security light would be fixed immediatly.

Beware that the staff is very friendly and the club house is nice. They will be kind to you and make lots of promises that will never be followed up on. Save your money and energy and do NOT rent at Village Green of Lansing!
