At Trillium Dental, we perform oral cancer screenings using both visual inspection and manual palpation. In addition, we have the latest technology in oral cancer detection, which helps our dentists visualize abnormalities in the mucosal tissues of your lips, mouth, and upper throat. An oral cancer screening examination will allow your dentist to more accurately assess your overall oral health.

Teeth Cleaning
The best way to prevent excessive plaque buildup is to schedule a professional cleaning with a dentist or dental hygienist every six months. Plaque that is left untreated can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay. A routine dental cleaning lasts about one hour and will usually include scaling and polishing.

There are two procedures used by our dentists at Trillium: direct and indirect. The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using a procedure called bonding, while the indirect technique usually involves two appointments since the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory.

If your teeth are chipped, stained, or gapped, then veneers may be a good option for you to consider. Veneers are a widely used cosmetic dental procedure used to cover the outside, visible area of the tooth. They may also be used if the enamel on your teeth is badly worn or if your teeth are not properly aligned.
Crowns
Are you missing one or more teeth and want a permanent replacement solution? A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over a tooth, helping to restore its shape, size, strength or to improve its appearance. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but also can dramatically improve a tooth’s appearance, shape, and alignment. When a crown has adhered into place, it will fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
Bridges
If you have damaged or missing teeth, you may need a bridge. Dental bridges literally bridge the gap caused by one or more missing teeth, where one or more artificial teeth are cemented into place using the teeth on either side for support. Bridges are very durable and can last a lifetime with extra care and by practicing good oral hygiene.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment — or endodontic therapy — is necessary when a cavity is neglected, allowing it to penetrate all the way to the pulp. Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. Once this occurs the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone, which would be considered an abscess.
