Garno avoids answering his calls. Will not answer questions until u fill out an application. Then ignores the application for a week. Then plays "bait and switch", claiming they are rented out (yet they appear from the outside as messy sometimes, not really ready for occupancy). Then loudly and drunkenly tells you what he wants you to rent! "Oh I know what u can afford" though he can't remember your income. If u r a home owner who foolishly trusted Garno I feel sorry for you. He hates section 8 because they don't like the state of repairs so the tenants have to move out. If you cannot pass section 8, then u won't pass city of Lansing either as they are much more strict. So repairs are not done, and he bills you for repairs never done. Well it is just a write off anyhow.... you as owner lose, then lose some more and eventually it will get torn down. SorryWe can afford 900, then obviously after 7 yrs in downsizing we can afford 800. But no, we won't a accepT a 2nd bedroom that is actually a walk in closet. Bait and switch. All of the advertised ones are just not rented out.
No clue how anything gets done. Paige Luce and Chris Garno barely said a paragraph between the two of them. Never seem to answer the phone and it is like pulling teeth to get a call. They ask for an appplication. We sent one already so made a copy. So we send another with... pay stubs? No results. We are long term tenants who have been looking since August 2018. Are these folks making an effort to rent anything? It is September and they won't call back. Drug or alcohol issues? We need a clue.
I have been with Mr. Garno for 6 years. He has been fair with me. I have always been honest with him when i got behind in rent. I do agree the mantaince and communication could be a lot better. I don't think it's that he don't care, i think he has delt with so much bull from renters, he is cautious. I do wish the communucation was better. The newer office girk carylon is really good. I hope she knows she is apperciated
Anyone in Lansing area DO NOT use Garno Lansing literally the worst company EVER!! Please share this if anyone is looking to rent a home in Lansing area DO NOT use Ganro. Always have random unannounced rude people at our house, the first day we literally could have died because there was a gas leak, he laughed it off and did not seem to care. Nothing is up to code on the house. No 24 hour notice. Accusing my husband of selling drugs because he doesn't want random people in the house when we're gone. Threatening to kick us out because he doesn't need to give 24 hour notice and he never returns our calls. Chris Garno and his property management company is complete crap and not professional at all. Also for the first week we did not have a working fridge because his ignorant cheap ass said it was fine and did not want to spend the money on a new one. We eventually got a refurbished one that works fine. Also things were supposed to be fixed to code did not fix and got the lease copy after hounding them for a month and a half
Cont. At one point, he had TWO (LITERALLY ONLY TWO) maintenance men working on every house he had. They were working 12+ hour days, constantly talked about how awful of a boss he was, etc. The girls in the office always seemed unhappy with their jobs because they were the ones having to clean up after Garno. Garno is sexist, misogynistic, arrogant, and completely void of giving a shit about anyone but himself and his bullcrap business. No one should rent from this slum lord. Garno is the worst experience of renting so far in Lansing. Do not rent from this man.
If I could have given 0 stars, I would. I'm making it my job to let everyone know how much of a garbage company, business owner, boss and landlord Chris Garno is. I rented from him from Jan 15-Dec 15. When we walked through the house he told that certain things were going to be finished before we moved in (like the vanity in the bathroom), which had not been replaced including knobs missing off drawers and shelves missing in the medicine cabinet. Railings were only half screwed into walls. There was a 1/2" gap under our front door that snow would blow into. The piping for the heat system was missing up to the upstairs so it only heated our basement. Upon moving in, we realized that the attic they considered a "fourth bedroom" had ZERO vents in there so it was about 20 degrees in the winter. We also had a wall in our basement collapse and it took almost a week to fix. Plus besides the obvious disarray the house was in, Garno was/is a god awful human being. 1000 charactee max? 2bcont
Overall, my experience with DTN has been great thus far. This was my first year leasing with this agency, and I elected to sign on for another two years with them. The staff is very cordial and maintenance is very quick to respond to any problems that arise.
Very great place to live. I lived with DTN for over 3 years and I love it! Maintenance is extremely fast and helpful. Also, a nice and safe environment.
Awesome staff and amenities at the leasing office. Best experience I've had with a leasing company in East Lansing.
The leasing office is amazing, they handle complaints (the few that we have) and are quick to fix anything that is broken or damaged. They are friendly and I enjoy/recommend renting from DTN Management Company.
