My Dog Was Abused Here!! DO NOT GET YOUR PET GROOMED HERE!!

I have used their grooming services since buying my dog 4 years ago. I recently heard some unsettling encounters by others who had used Critter Country. So I took my dog to AV Pet City near me in Quartz Hill. I dropped my dog off on the way to work. Not long after, my husband received a call telling him my dog was absolutely terrified and asked my husband to come to the shop and help to soothe our dogs fears. My husband could not believe what he saw! Our dog had defecated all over the place and any time the groomers even picked up a brush he would start growling and trying to bite anyone near.(Our dog is extremely docile and loving!) My husband was able to help hold our dog so he could at least finished being trimmed, but was unable to be fully groomed. The groomer told my husband that our dog had obviously sustained abuse and that it had involved a brush by his reactions.She went on to say that some groomers and bathers will hit the dogs to get them to submit when the dog is nervous or not understanding what the groomer is trying to get them to do, Our heart is broken that someone we trusted to care for our pet would harm him!! I am so angry and wish there was someone to report there abuse to. Of course I have no proof that he was abused here. But other than us who love this dog, no one else groomed him. I do not believe the place we took him to today had anything to do with the abuse, as they were so kind as to call us and try and help our dog work through his fears. Which by the way was unsuccesful. We have decided to invest in a good trimmer and learn how to groom our dog so as to prevent any further trauma to him.I have NEVER taken the time to write a review for any business. But I hope this helps some other dog from being abused!!!

Critter Country is a horrible place.The staff there is so rude,and if you ask them for help after being if ignored they treat you awful.They are never friendly!Their staff sells their personal animals there for profit and seem to enjoy playing bidding wars with the customers. Once called out in it they surely will give you more attitude.Ask them a question about an animal and be prepared to get a smart answer back.If you order a product make sure you call before going to pi k it up...They like to sell your prepaid item then laugh at you and say"well it will be another week"This place is a JOKE!!

I took my dog here for grooming. I dropped her off at 8 am. I called a few times through out the day to ask if she was ready to be picked up. They said no each time. Around 6 pm I called again asking if she was done. They said she had been ready for hours and all the groomers had left. No one bothered to call me she was ready! She also hurt her foot at this place and no one at the front counter bothered to check with the groomers to see what had happened when i went back in and asked what happened to her. I wish I could put no stars for this place.

I'm giving one star, only because I can't give no stars at all, this place is by far the worst grooming place in the Antelope Valley, I took my mini schnauzer there yesterday and after 4-5 hours decided to ask if my dog was ready, it turned out the dog had been in a cage all the time, I said I was going to take her to another place they said I had to pay them $25 because the dog was "bathed", I decided to let them finish, 30 minutes later they said they were done, my dog looked exactly the same as when I brought her in, and her beard was short and uneven, never ever take your dogs to this place, I saw one of the employees hit a golden retriever in the face. When she saw me she kind of knew she made a mistake and pretended like nothing happened. Never ever take your dogs to this place.

If you're looking for a good reptile store, this is nice. From time to time they have puppies and kittens that are good quality animals. Their selection of rabbits and guenie pigs are nice also. The only reason I did not give a five star rating is because of customer service. I think that for the most part, everyone is nice there, I just think that no matter what kind of day your having it shouldn't show at your place of work and when customers come in you should greet them not act like you're superior to them... You never know what is coming in the door and I have been treated differently depending if I come in looking aweful or looking like I have alot of money... Remember, people can look homeless and be millionares...
