The one star is for terrible customer service. I echo the earlier reviewers who say the workers here, particularly the owner, have an attitude of arrogance and carelessness toward their customers. I have purchased nearly two complete sets of high end kitchen appliances from them. Despite that, when I called for service on their dishwasher, they basically told me they weren't interested in coming out and to buy some defoaming agent to throw in. When I had a refrigerator problem a few days later and called for service, the repairman didn't show for the time window they gave me and I received no call or information from anyone as to what happened. I had made special arrangements and rearranged my schedule to be home during that time. When I called to find out what happened, they gave no explanation and simply told me the window was now changed to four hours later. They promised this time he would be there and I explained the time crunch I was under but again rearranged my schedule to be there four hours later. When the repairman again didn't show as promised, I checked my phone and found a message from a few minutes earlier. I immediately called him back to find out that when I didn't immediately answer his call, he simply turned around and went back to the shop. I asked him to come back since he couldn't be more than five or ten minutes away. He refused. When I then called the owner, he chewed me out for not answering the call, told me the repairman had waited for me to call him beside the road before he left (which wasn't possible considering the long amount of time it takes to get from my house to return to the shop compared to the much shorter time that had passed between when the message was left for me and when I called the shop -- plus why do that instead of just come to my house five minutes away?), and basically said too bad for you. He also gave no explanation or apology for the no show for the earlier window, except to tell me they had to be at other places instead. He basically said I should have been available waiting for them the entire day after the first window so they could come anytime at their convenience. And if I somehow failed to immediately answer their one call that they were on their way, their policy was to drop the appointment and return to the shop with no call or notice to me.
The arrogant and paternalistic attitude of the owner as to appliance problems and service issues, having no concern or care for customers' schedules, and arguing with customers is the reason I do not recommend this shop.

I've used Lakewood Appliance for a number of years now to service my rental properties in the Gig Harbor area. I've found them to be reliable and trustworthy. They have never tried to up sell me on new equipment . Would I like the initial service call fee to be less costly, yes, but the service and speed of work performed has made up for that with my experiences.

This review is long but I feel the words are necesary so please bear with me. I have been renting a beautiful home in S. Hill for 4+ years now and it happens that my Property MGMT company uses Lakewood Appliance. I've had repairs to my dishwasher once, my fridge twice, and a new dryer installed all by Lkwood App repair men. With each repair I experienced a problem with the repair man but I shook it off, however; today was the worse and I couldn’t ignore it. My fridge went out today; all was melted in the freezer and I lost the contents of my fridge. At 10:30 am I called my Property MGMT Company to request a trouble call, they then placed a call to Lkwood App., then Lkwood App. called me to confirm the repair appt. I was told at that time that a repairman was on the way and would be at my house within an hour, it was 11:30am. By 3pm no one showed up so I called Lkwood App. again. I was now told that the repairman dropped my repair because I didn’t answer when he called my home to verify that I would be home. How many times do I need to verify I’m home? This is one of the problems we’ve had every time we have had to get a repair we end up playing this crazy phone tag with them that never works out. We tell them that were home all day but it doesn’t matter. The repairman just dropped the order for my trouble call. He didn’t have to follow up with anyone to let them know this, not the property mgmt or Lkwood App. Weird, huh, but that’s how they do things. When he finally did show up at 3:45 he told me I was lucky he even came out today after I missed his call and he even asked me if my fridge was 'really out'. The arrogance of that repairman was shocking. He was rude and when I called him on it he shook his head at me, smirked, and told me to call my property management about it and turned his back on me and walked out of my house while I was still trying to talk to him about the repair to the fridge and why it broke. I received similar experiences from each time they sent out a repairman. I did report them to my property management. I also called twice to try to speak to the owner, Ron at Lakewood App. After he didn’t return my call I called back and I was told by the receptionist that Ron said he would not speak to me. He didn’t care what I had to say and told me to call my Property MGMT instead. I said it’s not about placing a trouble call but about how a repairman acted in my home. I was told by them to call my property management even if it was about an issue with one of his repairmen, he didn't want to hear it. My impression of Lakewood App is that they really don't care at all and that they only care about the all mighty dollar. They’ve been in business too long to act this way esp. with so many people out of work now and the jobs people do have are not as secure as they should be. I’m not allowed to act this way in my job. They act like they don’t have to care. To be treated with such blatant disrespect by someone coming into your home to do a job that they are getting paid to do is appalling and arrogant. The repairman didn’t even try to hide his arrogance and bad attitude, he wore it proudly. I will never have Lakewood App. out to repair anything again. I will pay for myself and send the bill to Property Mgmt first.

Courtesy, honesty, timeliness. This is a great business that gives the attention only a local business can. No big box attitude or lack of knowledge here!
I have dealt with Lakewood Appliance several times over the last 5 years. Everytime, I have been treated with respect and attentiveness. I have bought a reconditioned fridge, parts for my fridge & freezer, and most recently had repairs done onsite to a freezer at a food bank.

Lakewood Appliance hooked up my dishwasher and water began to leak immediately when running the dishwasher. After calling they would not admit it must be their fault but they came out and tightened up the connections which did correct the problem. Again no admit to fault. Also the dishwasher is not screwed to the cabinet at the top, so it falls out of the cabinet onto the floor. If I open the dishwasher and pull the trays out 1/2 way, I can avoid this from happening. There are no screws holding it in. They did not even try to screw it in.
Again - this is no fault of theirs.

My mother who is 86 and myself have been dealing with Lakewood Applicance for years. It is the only applicance store we will deal with. Professional, personal, friendly, bend over backwards to help us with our needs and are always up front on costs. Seems to be alot of unhappiness about a ""trip"" charge. Well, I guess you would have to own a small business to understand the costs of keeping your doors open especially in these trying times. I'm sure no one has a magic wand that would be able to see what is wrong with your appliance until they see or hear the issue. Appliances are not coming out of the factory like they used to. Remember when your refrigerator would last 20 years? Not anymore! Lakewood Appliance has served us well over these years and we will continue to use them and give them a fabulous recommendation to anyone who is needing a new appliance or repair. Thank you Ron (owner) and your employees for all you have done for us...

The condenser on our 5 yr old Amana fridg went out 1 day after the warranty expired. Ron worked with the company to get it replaced without charge. Now, 2 months, later, it's failing again! I don't need this inconvenience, waste of food, and cost. Great experiences with their service overall in past years but this is frustrating.

We bought a new refrigerator from this company. After about 8 years the refrigerator stopped completed and just made a load humming noise. I called the store inquire about repair service and was told that there would be a minimum charge of $75 to come out and look at it. I described the symptoms completely and asked if they had any idea what was wrong withe refrigerator. They said no they would have to look at it.
A repair guy comes out and without pulling out a tool or anything says, ""the compressor is shot and would cost about $500 to repair, better off buying a new one"". I could have gotten this response from the guy over the phone and saved a service call. Since everything in my freezer was melting I asked if they had anything used available and he said he could go back and ask and someone would call me. Five days later someone calls me and asks whether we were interested in buying something. By this time we had gone to Sears Outlet and bought a new one.
We got the bill months later. When I called and asked if they would waiver the service charge since we were prior customers and had waited so long for a call back, the manager said he would think about it and let me know. Several months later, we get a bill from a collections company with interests.
These people lack intregrity in my opinion. They have lost a customer permanently.

Over the years we have taken many appliances to them for repair. They are honest and always are straightforward in helping me make a decision on to repair or replace. Living on Anderson Island, their help has been wonderful, because we are pretty much stranded out there when something goes wrong.

I called on a Monday and on Thursday the man came out to fix my dryer. After 15 minutes I was told it was shot and was charged $80 to have them come out and tell me this! Outrageous, I would not have minded to pay $15 bucks for the trip but $80 is highway robbery. I will never call Lakewood Appliance again. I went to TV Time and purchased a dryer for $139.00 with a 1 year warranty!
