last weekLet me just tell you about the worst unsportsmanlike actions that this company has done!! Taelor Tetting went up approached another studio placed her hands on her and gloated that their dancer beat our dancer. (UNPROFESSIONAL) If I was in search of a new dance studio I would never go to this studio. If their owners and staff does this I can only what they teach their students. They have removed their business from other review sites so tell me who is in the wrong
I've had my children in this studio for over 14 years. 4 of which was spent on the competition team . If you wish to join an establishment that uses choreography that was taken from youtube than by all means , this is the place for you. For example: Look up ( Dangerous )performed by Briar Nolet 2 years ago at Showstoppers now being performed by 1 of their students. I'm sure they are very proud of that . HILARIOUS.....:)
My daughter attended classes at this studio for a total of 8 years. 7 of those years she spent on the competition team. I’m ashamed to say we stuck around that long. During that time, I saw many amazing families come and go because of their poor treatment. Some of those students have gone on to do wonderful things in dance while others completely lost their love and passion for the art. The students are taught by former students of Tammy and have no professional training or credentials. The instructors, including the owner and team director, use bully tactics towards the students and even some of the parents. I’m not entirely sure what kept us there except that my daughter has a deep love and need to dance. Many times I threatened to leave but my daughter begged me not to. That’s a decision I have to live with. I personally have had a couple of confrontations with Tammy regarding the treatment of my daughter and the role she played in her life (dance instructor NOT parent or decision maker). She even went so far, at one point, as to tell me my daughter was no longer allowed to speak with a former team member. That began the downward spiral. My daughter then made a very brave and mature decision to leave. She decided she had enough. After telling Tammy we would not be returning the following season, my daughter was essentially shunned and treated like a second class citizen. We took a leap of faith and went to another local studio. We have never been more happy with that jump! Unfortunately, the drama and animosity continues during the few times a year we have to see them and local competitions. So make a well informed decision before you choose this studio. There are much better options with a loving, accepting supportive atmosphere. This place is toxic.
My daughter danced at another studio in the area for 7 years. The best decision we ever made was coming to UDC 1 year ago. The students are given love, respect and encouragement no matter what level of dance they are at. My daughter has grown so much because of that. Jenn, Freddie, Kayloni and Jessica have a genuine passion for what they do!
Named “Best in Dance” for a reason! After leaving another dance studio with both my girls we landed here but it wasn’t by chance. It is because we did our research! These owners want you to dance for them, and your school, and your community! They aren’t scared or selfish, they want your child to pursue all of their passions. Professionally trained instructors!! Amazing instructors! Amazing dance families as well that all support each other. The most friendly knowledgeable front desk lady you’ll ever meet! Great kids! Centrally located! It’s the only choice in Lakeland! UDC!❤️
I have been dancing since the age of 3 and have been dancing competitively since I was 7 years old. I am now 13 years old and happier than I have ever been! It is no secret or surprise that the Florida dance market is highly competitive and thriving with amazing dance talent. Up until 2 years ago the opportunities for affordable, exemplary, diverse and professional dance instruction was obsolete in central Florida, particularly my home town of S. Lakeland. Walking into the Ultimate Dance Studio for the first time and being greeted by Freddie DeJesus was the most refreshing and enlightening experience I ever had. Jen Davis, Freddie, and the entire staff made me feel like family immediately! This studio is all about their students and teaching the best in DANCE OF ALL STYLES, FORMS and GENRES! Since my enrollment I've been exposed to ALL forms of dance and stage performance not just competition dance and winning trophies. I began learning things that even as a veteran competitive dancer had sadly and shockingly never learned from the other studios I previously attended. I learned things such as time steps in tap, improv, theatrical performance, and most importantly finally being free to express my own dance individuality!!! I finally had the opportunity to learn that hip hop was so much more than twerking and that even I could do lyrical and contemporary! I have never once been denied to try something out of my comfort zone or talent spectrum at Ultimate Dance Studio. I have not one single negative thing to say about Ultimate Dance Studio! After 8 years of searching and trial and error with less desirable establishments it was a breath of fresh air to finally find MY dance home! If your child or even you (adult classes offered here too) is looking to pursue a career in dance there is no other studio in town that will nurture, guide, and help pave the path for their dance dreams and desires!
I danced and competed at this studio for several years. At first it seemed to be the right fit for me.As time passed though the studio's true colors began to show. All I wanted to do was dance to my full potential and be given every opportunity to grow as a dancer. How could that ever happen when none of the instructors except "maybe" the owner and the ballet instructor had actual credentials in dance study, instruction, and experience other than being past students and/or daughters of the owner. I was restricted to their establishment by the owner for all instruction IF I wanted to continue to compete, thus sheltering me from so much dance education and knowledge! This place will take your money and give second rate instruction at best. They will stereotype your dancer and not expose them to ALL genres of dance. I was the designated "Jazz/open" dancer there. Well since leaving I've found a great love for many other forms of dance and performance. They charged my parents choreography fees for competitive dances that were used years prior. Not OK to keep charging fees for dances that have been RECYCLED over and over and over again! They encourage poor sportsmanship and exude a negative catty attitude in the competitive arena. My mother and I experienced that first hand this past weekend while my new team spent the entire weekend competing side by side with them. What kind of studio encourages their instructors AND I might add whom is also the daughter of the owner to tap my mom on the shoulder and do a ridiculous gloating happy dance because her student won over my teammate? Seriously! How is it OK then for one of their students to linger and stalk backstage and taunt ME while I'm performing on stage and then laugh when I have a mishap? That studio is toxic and exudes negativity. They spend more time trying to make others look bad than realizing they are the UGLY ones. Leaving this studio was the BEST decision my mother ever made for me!No regrets!
Instructor does not show up for class and does not inform student until they get there that there will be no class. In the last month they canceled 2 classes out of 4.
This is a studio that embraces diversity! I am so happy to see a dance company completely engage the LGBTQ community and celebrate all they have to offer. It isn't just for show, but a lifestyle. You see the influence in the lives of the teachers, parents and students. It is obvious in all that they do that this dance community has a true love for diversity and is truly LGBTQ - people- friendly. It is obvious in their classes, their community involvement and their outreach that they are inclusive and support everyone. BRAVO! What a great addition for the Lakeland community.
My daughter attended there from the time she was 2 1/2 until she was 18 and went off to college. Now 3 years into college went back for a recreational class. She turned into a very accomplished dancer, Danced on the UCF Knight Moves for a year, Southeastern Dance Team and is know a finalist for this years Tampa Bay Bucaneer cheerleaders. All her accomplishments in dance were thanks to her instructors at TDC and her willingness to work hard. She gained many lifelong freindships. They are a great studio whether it be for Recreational or Competitive teams.
