Lawton Chiles Middle Academy, founded in 1927, offers education to students in grades six through eight. It has an enrollment of more than 550 students, and is affiliated to Polk County School District. The school offers various subjects in its curriculum, including mathematics, science, American history, Spanish, computers, language arts, and health and physical education. The extracurricular activities offered by the school include chorus, jazz band, visual arts, yearbook, scrapbook, National Honor Society, science Olympiad and field trips. The school also has a library and media center that offers a variety of books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, Internet access and online databases. Lawton Chiles Middle Academy is located in Lakeland, Fla., and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
