took my truck to get an oil change on the 4th of August. It took over 4 hours for them to complete the oil change after checking a couple times when it would be done so he could leave. paper was left in the truck and the Oil light and tire pressure light was blinking. He was given a detail certificate to come back for the inconvenience.

Today went back to get the detail done. 3 hours later he finally got the truck back. complained about the wait and the Service Department Managers Steve asked him why he didn't call and make an appointment? told him he asked the lady at the front desk if he needed to make an appointment, she told him No, just come in. told him that he was not going to be returning and Steve told him it was his prerogative to go somewhere else. No apology, no concern for loosing a good customer. His attitude was unacceptable and customer service sucked.... Very disappointed......... Disgusted with the mediocre service and especially the long wait......

High Pressure Tactics

I've done my fair amount of car shopping over the years, and so I know the high pressure tactics these salesmen and financiers can use, and I was disappointed to find out that Lakeland Chrysler Dodge used this as well. But once I found out that the same owners also own Lakeland Toyota, I knew I wasn't going to buy a car there.

Honestly the finance guy was a jerk who tried to be all big and bad and show he was the head honcho in the hierarchy of that place. But honestly he just showed himself to be a pompous delta bravo. My remark to the salesman before I left was ""I'm a little smarter than your average girl"". If you think I'm going to take the first offer on the table, which was ludicrous mind you, and let you lowball me on the trade-in of my car, then you're not the smart financier that you think you are. Yeah... my car had 200,000 miles on it... but it's a Honda, and it can go WELL over 400,000. I'm not stupid, that's why I bought it initially. But now I need an SUV that's got a good price on it and is dependable, so I went looking for a Jeep Patriot.

So... they lowballed me on the trade-in, saying it was just too much negative equity... and to be fair, I owed almost 10 on it, but an offer of $3500... really? Yeah um... no. But wait a minute... I could get FOUR FREE OIL CHANGES? Um... the reason I don't shop or get my car serviced at Lakeland Toyota anymore is because they are known ALL OVER THE INTERNET for doing more damage to your car than what you went in there for. And... personal history, they steal money out of your glove box. It happened to me as a teenager. A learning experience mind you, and now I take everything out of my car when I get it serviced. But if this place is affiliated with Lakeland Toyota, NO WAY am I getting it serviced there. And wow... a $100 break on oil changes... I feel special! OH, and to be even more condescending, he offered to ""Buy"" me a popcorn, even though they were giving that out free.

Part of me enjoys going into dealerships and seeing how because I look young and am female, that apparently they think I'm some dumb bimbo who knows nothing about cars. I drive for a living... and I'm careful with my money. I'm not going to foolishly spend it or be taken advantage of.

So I asked for some paper to write down the numbers and as the salesman started to write them down for me, he was yelled at by the finance guy. So I just pulled out my iPhone and took a photo, took that to Tom Edwards Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in Bartow and was met with a MUCH better deal on a better version of the Patriot in a color I wanted and outstanding service with NO pressure tactics at all. OH... and 4 free oil changes ;)

Honestly, I've dealt with dealerships like these in the past, and I urge you to stay away. I just wish I was good with remembering names, because then I'd tell you who to avoid here if you MUST go here.
