First of all, I posted my review a few days ago. My review was either deleted or hidden somewhere. There was no way to select zero star. This is my second post, stating just about the same experience with AAMCO Lake Havasu. I took my 2013 Chevrolet Spark in at 8:30 a.m. for sluggish automatic transmission engagement, especially below 50 degrees. Chris McPhee ordered a new transmission filter three times in the following 24 hours, each time he said he had received a wrong filter. After he told me the second time for receiving an incorrect filter, I asked him to clean and put the old filter back, so I could drive 60 miles home. His adamant reply was “NO.” He expected me to stay at a motel that night. After going home that afternoon, I went to my local library and checked how much other transmission repair shops would charge for the same work. Chris was already charging me 2 ½ to 3 times more than the other two shops I checked. The next morning I called Chris and he said he had received yet another wrong filter. He said he would have the old filter cleaned, put back, and pour in new oil. When I went back to AAMCO, I told him about his charge compared to the others, he gave me a lame excuse. For 24 hours of waiting for my car to be fixed, he charged $300 for labor, new trans oil, possibly new gasket, old filter. After getting home, I went to the library and within 5 minutes, I found a new transmission filter & gasket online. Apparently, Chris did not know how to order the correct trans filter, or quite possibly did not order at all – by keeping me waiting, he would be able to charge more for the labor. He charged me 2 ½ hours of labor and other miscellaneous. Most of the time, I was kept waiting in the room for a new filter to arrive.
Great experience! Honest, reliable, and fast!! I will definitely be back!! I was very impressed by the service I got! He was honest and didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need.
Chris and his team at Aamco got back to me quickly about my transmission slipping and diagnosed the problem quickly as well. My transmission is working well after their work was done(which was again very fast). I felt appreciated for my business and will happily recommend them to anyone interested.
GREAT SHOP HAVE DONE 5 TRANNYS FOR US AND CUSTOMERS OF OURS ALL HAPPY IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SHOP THAT STANDS BEHIND THEIR WORK YOU FOUND IT GREAT PEOPLE BILL IS THE OWNER GREAT GUY
took my 4x4 in for a simple clutch...took WEEKS. THEN WAS TOLD IT DID NOT WORK AND HE DID NOT WANT TO TAKE APART AGAIN AND FIX."JUST TAKE IT HOME" ..HE SAID. NOW I HAVE A TRUCK I CANNOT DRIVE AND HAVE TO TAKE TO ANOTHER SHOP TO FIX!! DONT SAY YOU WERENT WARNED!
After 2 1\\2 weeks our car still wasn't fixed and we had to take it somewhere else. The owner yelled at my husband and hung up on him twice! Apparently 2 1\\2 weeks wasn't long enough for them to replace a clutch. Nice way to do business! Misdiagnosed the problem
i went to bulletproof transmissions to get my car looked because it thought the transmissions was slipping . the guys there were very nice to me they looked at my car ans told me it was just a speed sensor and and fixed it quickly and cheap ... Thanks Todd and Charles for helping me out .......
This is the GREATEST mechanic shop in town!!!!!! We have tried several shops in Lake Havasu area in the past few years and have always had problems with being overcharged and the work not done right the first time and having to pay more for them to fix it the right way. But Aamco by FAR outstands the rest, they have great customer service and they keep you up to date on whats going on with your vehicle. They are very reasonably priced and take great care of their customers. We highly recommend them to everyone that wants a loyal, friendly, caring shop to take their car in to.
If honesty, integrity and great service is important to you, they you are at the right place. I found Aatco and Joe due to an emergency situation that arose late on a Friday. Joe was polite and responsive on the phone and told us to bring our truck to his shop. Upon our arrival, besides Joe being a well presented and friendly guy, first thing I noticed was the cleanliness and organization of his shop. Being a retired shop owner I can immediately recognize the tell-tale signs of a good place to be and the opposite. I did not tell Joe of my mechanical expertise or that I already had a pretty good idea of the problem that my truck was suffering. After a very brief discussion of symptoms Joe stated what he thought was the problem. I was impressed with his knowledge and quick analysis, moreover that he put the truck up on the rack to verify before he said anything affirmative. Joe's analysis was correct and rather than telling me just how bad my luck was, he offered several methods of remedy from inexpensive patching that will get me home if time was a issue to partial or complete replacement of the failed part(s) that would take a couple of week days to get. Due to our time constraint we had to opt for the quick fix. Joe did a very competent job over the weekend including a Sunday. He was more than fair with pricing. In fact maybe too inexpensive. My recommendation does not come easy and carries some weight. I give my highest recommendation to Joe and Aatco Transmission.
