My mom is in the Memory Care Unit at this facility. She. has terrific nurse's and nursing assistant's that are with her every day and know all her habits. They are specially trained for patients with Dementia and Alzheimer's and know exactly what to look for and how to treat them. All the way down to the dietician being involved, watching their weight, eating habits, feeding them six small meals a day, and it's all geared towards their illness. The nurses keep me informed about every little thing that goes on with my mom. It means so much, when you're the soul care giver and you can't be there always due to a disability. I have so much faith in these people. They've Proved themselves to me over and over . I don't worry like I use to . I know if something is wrong I'll get a call. If you want your loved one taken care of properly call lake Charles care center mental care unit .

I will not ever use this facility again and I would not recommend this facility to anyone. They overcharged me and I have been trying to get my money back from them for over two months. The incompetence of the staff that checks insurance benefits is enormous. Even after I explained that my insurance would pay 100% they insisted that I make a co-pay to get service. My insurance paid 100% within a week and now I have been trying to get my co-pay back. No about the service, went there 30 minutes before scheduled, took them about 15 minutes to get my money and over two hours to get around to the medical procedure. There are way better medical facilities in the Lake Charles area, I do not recommend Lake Area Medical Center to anyone, in fact I get way better service for my dogs at the vet.I give it one star only because that is the lowest I can rate it.
This place is horrific. My Aunt lives in this facility. I've always hated visiting because you hear people crying and yelling for a nurse. Recently, my aunt has told us she sits in her wet diapers for hours waiting for someone to change her. She is in pain from it. She also told us she isn't getting fed. She misses a meal a day. One of the employees told her (in front of us) that she wasn't going to feed her.I've tried searching for a number to the head office or management but all I can find is a generic office number to the front desk. Avoid this place please.
