Professionalism

This clinic is excellent at taking care of my dogs for kenneling. Exams were pretty good, but not excellent. Skin condition, they didn't even do a scrape & never did figure out what was wrong, but made sure to Rx me two pricey things to give him for it. I spent $200 for 2 visits, with no resolution & no apparent concern, since whatever it was was mild. Prices are high. Trying to get them to approve getting meds online was like pulling teeth and required many discussions (even tho I asked about this before ever going there in the 1st place). A pleasant, attractive place with excellent techs and front desk staff. I rate this place as average. Not bad, not great. Pricey.

When we moved to Lake Charles back in March of 2006, I started looking for a good veterinary clinic for our two cats, Tuffie and Freep, who had made the 2000 mile trek across the country with us. I have always believed that word of mouth is the best advertisement when it comes to health care, and, started asking people which veterinary clinic that they thought was the best. Time and again, University was the name that kept coming up. I am really glad that I listened to them!

For the last eight-plus years, UNIVERSITY has been there when we needed them, and, they have provided excellent care to our furry family members.

UNIVERSITY definitely has lived up to its reputation. I wanted the BEST for Freep and Tuffie, and, that is what we got. The medical care that they received helped them live long and happy lives. THANK YOU for your dedication to excellence...keep up the good work.

The doctors at University Animal clinic are some of the best! Our Myrtle had a sweet tooth for Rat Poison and poisoned herself on three different occasions! The first time, she was almost a goner after being told by a Moss Bluff Vet she was dying of heartworms! Upon seeing her, Dr. Woodword stated "She's been poisoned". It WAS rat poison! Blood transfusions and medications later, She was pulled through! Dr. Woodword took excellent care of her Pups! Then her spaying. There is absolutely nothing that can be given this team but praise. Awesome, caring people.

Great Veterinary Care

I have been taking my dogs and even guinea pigs to University Animal Hospital for 5+ years. They provide excellent care to the pets and their owners and are one of the few, if not the only clinic that treats small animals. It is a group of in veterinarians working there, but the receptionists happily grant a request if u prefer a certain vet. Although they are slightly more expensive than other vets, I gladly pay a few dollars more for the cleanliness and care that my pets receive.

Took my cat in for an unknown ...

Took my cat in for an unknown foot wound. I was nervous about seeing a new vet under such circumstances. However, the staff and vet (Dr. Prince) were extremely kind and took care of my kitty. They didn't try to push any unneeded services on me as well. Very happy in finding a good new vet.

Everytime I went to this place...

Everytime I went to this place, a different doctor/vet would appear. Each new one would have no clue what the last one did. Example: One Doc says, " Your dogs teeth are beautiful". Month later... A different Doc says, " OH MY GOSH, your dogs teeth are rotten, we must pull them!" That was the last time I went!.

Caring and Compassionate Clinic

While living in Leesville, Louisiana my Chihuahua suffered a slipped disc in her C-spine. My local veterinarian had known Dr. Lofton for years and strongly recommended University Animal Clinic to care for my Chihuahua's dire medical condition.

After arriving at the clinic EARLY on a Monday morning from the animal emergency room, Dr. Lofton immediately examined my Chihuahua. He clearly explained her ailment and possible courses of action for her care. I chose surgery and a chance for my pup to live. Dr. Lofton made no promises and did not pressure me to choose surgical intervention. He operated on her that very morning.

My Chihuahua recovered in the clinic for almost two weeks. The clinic called and updated me every day and I was able to call and check on her overnight.

Three years later, she is a happy and healthy Chihuahua. Dr. Lofton took over my Chihuahua's routine care and later cared for both of my Chihuahuas.

I cannot thank Dr. Lofton and his staff enough for their compassion and exceptional care of both of my pups. If you are looking for a loving and professional veterinarian clinic, look no further than University Animal Clinic.

No Better Care Available

My dogs have been patients of Drs. Lofton and Woodard for over 25 years - I can assure you there is no better veterinary care available anywhere. The first time I took my little Maltese to them, they saved her life, after a Moss Bluff vet told me she had distemper and wanted to put her down right then and there. When I got her to Dr. Lofton, I think the whole staff was assisting with getting her iced down and started on IV's. (She had a temp of 108, and Dr. Lofton suspected poison.) I now live near Dallas, TX, 275 miles away, but I still take my dog (a Rottie) to Dr. Lofton for health problems that local vets are unable to solve. Drs. Lofton and Woodard are top-notch vets, and have never let me down.

Fantastic Care

I have taken both of my Chihuahuas to for care w/ Dr. Lofton at this clinic. Dr. Lofton specializes in surgery for small/toy dogs. There is no doubt my little Dubie would not be here today w/o the compassion shown by Dr Lofton and staff. The facility is clean, the staff courteous and the doctor top notch. I would recommend this clinic to everyone!
