Cryotherapy
Occasionally when the vitreous gel separates from the retina, it will pull on the retina, causing a retinal tear.Â Retinal tears can lead to a retinal detachment if fluid passes under the tear and separates the retina from the wall of the eye.Â Retinal tears can often be treated in the office with laser or cryotherapy (freezing).

As retinal vein occlusions are typically associated with high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure, monitoring and treating these medical conditions are important in those patients with venous occlusive disease.Â Thus, following up with your primary care doctor is imperative.

Eyes with retinal venous occlusive disease may develop macular edema (retinal swelling), or growths of fragile, abnormal blood vessels on the retinaâ€™s surface. These growths can cause bleeding into the vitreous gel. This bleeding is typically associated with the sudden appearance of floaters or severe loss of vision. Â Patients with central retinal vein occlusions may also develop abnormal blood vessels on the iris. These blood vessels can cause a severe form of glaucoma known as neovascular glaucoma.

If it is not immediately treated, it can advance quickly and can lead to permanently affected vision. However, surgical procedures can treat retinal detachments so that vision is restored. Eye surgery must be done in the early stages of a retinal detachment to have the highest chances of success. Diabetic Retinopathy
If you have diabetic retinopathy, you should speak with Santa Ana retina consultants. The eye condition is common among diabetic patients and results when high blood sugar levels damage blood vessels in the retina. Patients with diabetic retinopathy may experience blurry vision, floaters and poor night vision.

Ultrasound
The actual procedure time is between 15 and 30 minutes. The clouded lens is removed using a high-frequency ultrasound device that uses vibrational force to break up the clouded lens into smaller, extractable fragments. This process is called phacoemulsification, or â€œphacoâ€ for short. Once the clouded lens has been removed, it is replaced with a synthetic intraocular lens, with specific parameters based on the diagnostic results from the pre-operative eye exam.
