What is hormone replacement therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment where medication is used to replace hormones a woman's body does not create naturally. Women are prescribed either estrogen alone or a mix of estrogen and progesterone. The former is given to women who've had hysterectomies, while the latter is for postmenopausal women. HRT used to be a common treatment, but doctors have prescribed it less often in recent years, as concerns of negative side effects increased.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where uterine tissue (endometrium) grows in areas outside the uterus. This can cause extreme pain, especially around menstruation and during sex. Other symptoms include infertility, chronic fatigue, and painful urination or bowel movements during menstruation. In addition, many women with endometriosis also have allergies, frequent yeast infections, or sensitivity to certain chemicals.

What causes morning sickness?

Morning sickness is a common pregnancy symptom that includes nausea and occasional vomiting. Despite its name, morning sickness can occur at any time of day. The exact reason for this condition isn't clear, although most believe it results from hormone changes affecting muscle contraction and relaxation in the stomach and intestines. Another theory suggests morning sickness is caused by an abundance of intestinal bacteria in pregnant woman.

What types of birth control can an OB/GYN prescribe?

OBGYNs can prescribe or perform the following types of birth control:

Contraceptive pills
Birth control shots
Implants
Diaphragms
Vaginal rings
Cervical caps
Intrauterine devices
Tubal ligation
Hysterectomies

Women do not need to see an OBGYN to obtain over-the-counter forms of birth control such as male condoms, female condoms, or sponges.

I called to make an appointment. First thing that was asked, before my name even, was what insurance I had. Then my name, date of birth and why I needed an appointment. They put me on hold then came back, took my number and said they would give me a call by the end of the day. I never got a call. I called back 3 days later and explained I never got a call back. I was asked the same information then told that the Dr looks over calls and decides which new patients she will see. Then was told even if she saw me it would not be until early November. I felt I was begging to be seen and felt very unimportant. I will never recommend this Dr ever!! I decided to call another Dr. Was greeted with an update beat attitude and got an appointment in a week. I saw this Dr many many years ago. So long ago I was told I would be listed as a new patient. The second Dr was Dr John Kemph.

I've seen several doctors since I hit puberty due to female and fertility issues and I must say Doc is the best! When I first seen her I was in my late teens and I wasn't sure how I would feel having woman doctor as my OBGYN even though having a male doctor is also uncomfortable for a young adult but from the minute she walked into the exam room I have never felt more comfortable or received the kindness, compassion, and was able to relax and speak to a doctor as easy and understanding as Dr. Jurgelsky. When she moved out of the town I lived in I followed her to Lafayette, then for a short period she moved out of state but returned but it was few years before I found out she was back in Lafayette and after those few years of not seeing her when I did go back to her it was like she had never left and she always remembers the smallest things about her patients such as my hobbies, and that I wore green contact lens for a wedding I was serving in and asked me about it, etc. I just can't find the words or say enough to describe how wonderful she is as a doctor and a human being. I recommend her to anyone especially to all young adults/teenage girls when it's your first time seeing a OBGYN! You will not be disappointed.

horrible 1st. Dr visit

From the staff on up to the dr. Robinson was rude. I will never recommend anyone to go there. He just handed me a prescription without even letting me know what was it or what was it for, I had to ask the pharmacist. I never even went back for my second appt I found a much better and caring doctor. My second pregnancy and I refuse to deal wit a rude dr. OR his rude staff.
